Hi Laurie. This sounds like a lot of confusion and double-talking on the part of ARA Inc. I'd like to help you get the calls to stop, though. Please give me a call at 312-224-4695 and we can talk. Thanks, Mike

Hi Stephanie. Debt collectors will use any methods they can to get ahold of the person they're looking for, including harassing friends and family members. They cannot harass you or threaten you, if they do so they could be breaking the law. I'd like to discuss this with you in more detail. I'll give you a call. Thanks, Mike

Hi Benjamin. It is common for debt collectors to use various local zip codes to trick you into answering the phone. A debt that old sounds suspicious, I would be hesitant to send any type of payment to them without some proof and discussing this with an attorney. If you need assistance, please give me a call. 312-224-4695 Thanks, Mike

Hi Rochel. If they're threatening you, they could be breaking the law. There may also be some question about the statute of limitations on the debt. Let's talk more about this. Give me a call at 312-224-4695 and I will check in with you as well. Thanks, Mike

Hello. I received a call from a collector today about a debit that is 15 years old and I havent heard anything on 10 years. They stated at first that I didnt respond to a settlement offer sent to old address. They said they had a federal affidavit and would levy my account unless I pay the 2999 by the end of the month. I said I didnt live there so they transferred me. The gentleman who got on the phone was worse. Said that he knew I had credit cards. I wouldnt be able to use anymore he would levy my bank account and ruin my credit. Said I had to pay 699 today. When I said I needed something in writing about this he said he would email it. He never did but when I said I need to review this he said I was stalling and he would proceed with legal action. Im not sure what my rights are or if Im in the wrong or what to do!

This ARA company called me yesterday afternoon and suckered me into agreeing to make monthly payments to settlement a very old debt. I can't possibly do this. They threatened to file a suit for the debt, saying it would then cost me over $10k. I don't own anything except my clothes, and household items. I'm already deeply in debt for the low income I have. My credit rating is in the pits. I'm 64 yrs. old and live on disability social security!

ARA had contacted my husband's cellphone number this morning and I called them back on mine identifying me as his wife and they explained that we owe $15,106.28 by Washington Mutual. He has never had an account with Washington Mutual and Logan Scott stated that it could have been an old credit card and that it dates from 2005. They have just called his cell phone again this afternoon and it looks like they will continue to call after he said that I will mark this as a refusal to pay after I stated I would check with my attorney to validate this debt. Do we have a case of harrassment yet or do they need to call a few more times? They did threaten legal action from St. Louis County and mentioned something about a petition of judgement but when asked if they sue he avoided the question and the debt is 13 years old!

I have been receiving call's from one of the number's you have listed. They made it sound very official with the message they left me. They said it was in reference to Discover Car. That information is form the 1980's,and it was cleared from my Credit report. I did not return any phone calls, yet I suspect that they are cloning zip codes in order to try to get me to answer my phone!

They called my phone # looking for my mom. When I explained to them that this is my phone #. Then they wanted my moms # to which I explained I will not give it out unless I know what this is in regards to. The gentleman told me no that he wouldn’t give me any information so I told him ok then I will not be providing you with that phone #. Then he said “ok. We’ll just keep calling until we get ahold of her and I told him well you won’t because this is my phone. I then said if he continues to call after knowing this is my phone #, I will report him for harassment and he kept telling me I need to stop. Then said that if my mom gets in any trouble, it’s my fault.

I don’t know that I have any specific questions yet, this just began. The thing is, if may continue. I’ve gotten phone calls from ARA regarding a debt owed to a bank I’ve never heard of, for an amount that I’d never have qualified during the supposed debt time to begin with. I returned the call today, they verified my social, but nothing else matches. After that, the nice lady sent me to Legal and a bad man. He was violating FDCPA the entire time. I called back and asked for a supervisor in Legal, and got the same guy. I wanted to request a copy of my file, but and date of last payment which is when he called me a liar and. IDK something else. I don’t know where the contract would have been signed (if one has). The First Lady i spoke with said it was from the early 2000s as for date of either contract or last payment or something!

Hi Martin, the collection agency calling you is ARA. The number 888-686-9475 is from ARA. When a collection agency leaves you a message, the caller has to identify the company name (here ARA, Inc., or Asset Recovery Associates) and tell you they are collecting a debt. Here, this message did neither. It appears ARA incorporated violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I can help you stop these calls. Thanks, Mike.

This company keeps calling me claiming I have a Bank Of America Visa credit card with a past due balance. I have no such card and never had one and i was in bank of America recently and received no indication from them directly. This alleged account does not show up on my credit report. I'm very concerned because they provided me my full name, address and even social security number.

Hi Whitney, You came to the right place. I can help you stop the calls from ARA, Inc, to you, your fiance, and your former employer. ARA incorporated should not be harassing these third parties. You are protected under a federal law called the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I'll call you so we can discuss your rights on the phone. Thanks, Mike.

I received a call last Thursday, stating I owed $25,000 from sometime back in 2001 for a Bank of America credit card. They called me at work with all of my personal information and threatened to attach a levy on my social security, stating they had a signed affidavit etc. They also informed me they were going to put it on my credit report. I told them to send me information regarding any debt they think I owe and I would look it over. They of course did not. Today I received another phone call at my place of business, which I did not actually receive, but they left a message to call back. Any credit card debt I had was from around that time, as I lost my job and started a business. The only other debt I had was from 2009 when I did lose my house to B of A due to an unfair forclusure (they actually foreclosed without putting the notification on the house. I only found out when people came to look at the house and informed me it was at auction the next day). I am sure these are past the SOL as they are 6 years here in Arizona. I would just like some help to not have them calling me at work. Thank you.

Hi Robert, we can help you. ARA does not have an affidavit and will not levy your account. ARA also will not ruin your credit or take legal action against you. These are all empty threats geared towards scaring you into making a payment. You have rights under the law and we will help you enforce those rights. You should never pay a debt on the phone without first seeing something in writing. You were smart to ask for something in writing and not to make a payment on the phone. We'll go over your rights on the phone. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Anthony, You made the right decision not to reply back to this message. ARA's "case number" is scare tactic to think ARA filed a lawsuit against you. There's no lawsuit filed against you--don't worry. 630-835-0674 is one of ARA's numbers. I will help you stop these calls from ARA. I will also help you assert your rights under the law. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Rochelle, Yes, you and your husband do have a case against ARA, Inc., for violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Before doing anything regarding this debt, let's discuss your options on the phone. Please check your credit report in the meantime. I will help you figure this out. ARA cannot, and will not, sue you. Thanks, Mike.

Hi L.A., ARA will not sue you. I will help you stop this payment plan. Making threats to scare consumers into payment plans violates the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Fortunately, you find my firm. We help consumers go after ARA, Inc., for violating the FDCPA. Under the law, you're entitled to money damages and ARA will have to pay my firm's fees and costs. I'll discuss your rights with you further on the phone. Thanks, Mike.

I agree with you that this debt is a tad past the SOL. This is what ARA, Inc., does--collects debt WAY BEYOND the statute of limitations. ARA, Inc., does not have a pending case against you. I'm glad you realized this and did not fall for ARA's scare tactics. I can help you stop the calls. Please contact me at 888-572-0176 or at [email protected] Thanks, Mike.

Hi Douglas, ARA will not sue you, levy your bank, freeze your account, garnish your wife's wages, etc. These are all of the scare tactics ARA uses to get consumers, like yourself, to pay debt. Have you received anything in writing? Is this debt on your credit report. Let's discuss these type of issues on the phone. Thanks, Mike.
