Can someone fully recover from a TBI?
A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is generally caused by a strong impact or blow to the head. Though this type of injury can cause some debilitating effects, it is certainly possible to fully recover from it. If you or a loved one has sustained a TBI from a car accident, contact Agruss Law Firm, LLC for a free consultation so we can help you recover from this experience and get fairly compensated.
A TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe. A mild TBI is when the loss of consciousness following the accident lasts under 30 minutes. A moderate to severe TBI is when the loss of consciousness following the accidents lasts over 30 minutes. A mild TBI also generally does not result in an open TBI where the skull is broken or penetrated. This makes recovery much easier, but still an obstacle to overcome.
Victims can certainly fully recover from a mild TBI with enough time and treatment. Moderate to severe TBIs do depend on the severity of the injury and the areas affected to determine when they may or may not recover. If someone falls into a coma following the accident, the longer that they are in the coma, the more likely they will be disabled. But also, the more physical therapy that one receives soon after an accident causing harsh physical disabilities, the more fully they can recover. Some people can stay in an impaired state for months or years, while others may experience the effects of some form lasting a lifetime. But, with the right treatment and therapies, people can certainly improve their condition and get closer to how they were prior to the accident.
