In 1998, I started a relationship with Citibank student loans. I have multiple loans roughly about 6-8 individual loans, but I consolidated those loans into making 1 monthly payments addressing each individual loan. Throughout the course of 6 1/2 years I have NEVER defaulted on my loans, I have paid my loans on a monthly basis as I get paper statements from Citibank. As of today I continue to make payments in such manner. I do have documentation from Citibank regarding every month of payment for the last 6 1/2 years as proof of never defaulting. Based on information given to me at this present time thru various sources, I was informed that Citibank sold a portion of my loans to a company named SALLIE MAE as of July 1st 2011. At this point here is were everything went WRONG. I have NEVER received any correspondence from Sallie Mae via mail. After further review once I was aware Sallie Mae had taken over my account they informed me that Citibank had informed them(Sallie Mae) this was an online/email account, therefore statements were going to go to my email account on file. On my part that cannot be true because Citibank never has never sent me paper statements via email they have always sent me actual bill statements even at the present time, hence that is why I have never defaulted with my student loans. Sallie Mae was sending me email bill statements since day 1, those emails were going to my Spam Mail. I was never aware of the bills. Then I called Sallie Mae once I found all this out, and I asked why if they have sent me bills and I was not paying after 30 days what was the next course of action what was there policy and procedures, I asked did you(Sallie Mae) send me notification of my deliquesce after 30 days they said yes thru my email address, but I asked if I was not responding with payments for bills because they were sent via email then why would you send me the notification in that same method if i have not responded. Sallie Mae they could not do anything about that because they will always fall back on the excuse that when they purchased my acct from Citibank it was sold as an email acct, Sallie Mae allowed this to happen and continue for 271 days. Sallie Mae now they no longer have my account, they have sent me to collections which is the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation. I now have to pay about 2,800 in collections fees, as well as my credit score has been affected in a very bad way, interest has incurred throughout this whole time, late fees etc. I NEED HELP, this is not right, now nobody like Citibank or Sallie Mae is willing to help me, they have said they washed there hands with me and now I have to deal with the collection agency. This is so wrong.
