A nursing home in Orlando, Florida, is currently under investigation for elder neglect; Clermont Health and Rehabilitation Center is now being investigated by Clermont police and the state Department of Children and Families.
On Monday, January 14, police were called to South Lake Hospital, in response to an elderly rehab patient’s hospitalization with third-degree ulcers on his buttocks, the result of neglect. The patient’s daughter reported to police she’d been having problems with the facility for two months; besides the advanced bed sores, she said her father was also enduring mouth sores, a side effect of his dentures not being removed.
A spokesman for Clermont Health and Rehabilitation Center said the facility is cooperating with the DCF and local authorities.
