Man Dragged from Vehicle and Beaten After Striking 2 Pedestrians on South Side

A man was dragged from his vehicle and beaten by a crowd after he struck two pedestrians with his car Friday night on the South Side, according to police. The man was driving at 7:15 pm in the 9300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when he hit two men, one of whom sustained serious injuries.

Paramedics arrived on the scene and called for police backup after a crowd of angry pedestrians gathered at the scene and pulled the driver from the car and beat him, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

One of the men hit by the car was in critical condition, and the other man and driver were taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition. Police have not said if any arrests will be made as a result of the accident.
