I have received two loans for school from Navient, at one point I was unable to pay for my loans because I was not employed immediately. As soon as I became able, I have made every attempt to pay my loans. In the summer of 2011 I set up to have my two loans be paid monthly (automatic withdrawal) with one payment. We agreed to the payment amount that would cover both loans and started making payments, 13 payments were set up. We began to receive late notices and past due notices. Me or my wife would call to inquire and were repeatedly told, we were up to date on our payments, everything was in order. I called multiple times and received the same response. We eventually made all 13 payments and set up another 13 payments for the same amount and still continued to receive the late notices. I called on in November of 2012 to see about the late notice and again was told to ignore it, everything is up to date. I called again in December after receiving another notice only to find out that whomever set up the payment amount had made a mistake and it wasn’t for the correct amount. Every time we had called previously, they were giving us incorrect information causing us to spend numerous hours for our time, frustration for the confusion, unneeded stress regarding our financials. We were being proactive to see what was going on and every time told nothing was wrong. Now, we are finally getting this straightened out, but not without incurring more interest and being further behind in our payments causing us to have to pay more in the future. We also believe this has negatively effected our credit report as a recent decline in our credit was experienced for student loan delinquency.
