Table saws, also known as bench saws, is typically a woodworking tool consisting of a circular blade that protrudes from the top of the table and is powered by an electric motor. While a table saw is designed to cut through wood, sheet plastic, aluminum, and brass with ease, it can be dangerous and deadly to the human body, with thousands of people losing digits and limbs every year.

If you have been injured in a table saw accident, contact Mike Agruss Law for a free consultation. We are a Chicago-based injury law firm representing individuals (and their families) who have suffered an injury in an accident. We will handle your case quickly and advise you every step of the way, and we will not hesitate to go to trial for you. Lastly, Mike Agruss Law is not paid attorneys’ fees unless we win your case. Our no-fee promise is that simple. You have nothing to risk when you hire us – only the opportunity to seek justice.

SawStop Technology

Created in 2003, SawStop was designed to sense electrical conductivity and would stop the movement of the blade within 1/200th of a second of detection. Because wood is a poor conductor of electricity and the human body conducts electricity much easier when SawStop senses that human flesh has made contact with the blade, it will stop the blade before more extensive damage can occur.

This technology has the potential to prevent serious injuries and save limbs, but many tables saw manufacturers do not use SawStop in the production of its products because it would increase the cost by $100 per unit.

While workers bear a measure of responsibility for taking the proper precautions to keep themselves safe, when a table saw manufacturer refuses to make their products safe, they may be held responsible for their negligence.

Loss of a limb is extremely painful and can be life-altering. A victim of a table saw accident may be unable to return to work and could receive compensation for lost wages, disability, disfigurement, pain and suffering, and loss of enjoyment of normal life, to name a few.

If you or a loved one has suffered injuries due to negligence on the job site, an experienced personal injury lawyer can review your claim and determine if there were unsafe working conditions, potential OSHA violations, and other hazards that may have existed at the time of your accident. They will also determine who may be liable for your injuries and damages and what compensation you may be entitled to.

We at Mike Agruss Law are proud to serve our fellow citizens in personal injury cases, especially when you or a loved one has been injured, and we are fully committed to protecting your rights and ensuring that the other party is held legally accountable when negligence occurs. We will fight until the very end to ensure that you are fully compensated for all injuries and losses resulting from the accident, including medical expenses, property damage, lost wages, and pain and suffering, and you won’t owe us a dime for our services.
