James Malone of Bunker Hill was airlifted to St. Louis University Hospital after his truck struck a tractor trailer on Route 159 between Renken and Seiler roads. The accident happened around 10:00 am on Tuesday, and the Dorsey Fire Department used extrication equipment to get him out of his pickup truck.

Malone’s pickup crossed the center line, hitting the front end of a tractor trailer, according to Illinois State Police. Three witnesses reported Malone was at fault, and he was cited for improper lane usage. The driver of the tractor trailer refused treatment at the scene. Malone is now in fair condition, according to St. Louis University Hospital Media Relations Director Laura Keller.
