Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) have many short term and long term effects, each depending on the area of the brain affected and the severity of the injury. If you or a loved one has sustained a TBI from an accident, contact Mike Agruss Law for a free consultation so we can help you recover from this experience and get fairly compensated.

Generally speaking, the more severe the brain injury is, the more prominent that the chronic effects will likely be. Also, these effects are often the most debilitating. Some physical long term effects may include fatigue, changes in sleeping patterns or appetite, seizures, or paralysis. In terms of one’s sensory effects, one may experience slurred speech, problems with reading comprehension, partial loss of vision, sensitivity to light, blurred vision, decreased hearing, ringing in the ears, sensitivity to noise, and a diminished sense of taste.

Some cognitive long term effects include memory issues, difficulty with attention, focusing, planning, organization, or language processing. In a less tangible form, some social and emotional effects may include depression, mood swings, isolation, irritability, anxiety, impulsiveness, and much more which is, again, dependent on the areas of the brain affected. While some long term effects can be the result of the accident itself, they may also be the result of certain acute injuries or effects, as well.
