Kevin T. Lawlor of Romeoville, IL, Killed in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash

Romeoville police have identified Kevin T. Lawlor as the man who was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Monday.

According to the Romeoville Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 12:10 p.m. June 29 in the area of Independence Boulevard and Material Road. Lawlor, 46, was southbound on Independence Boulevard when, for reasons that are unclear, he collided into a northbound semi-tractor with a trailer at Material Road.

Lawlor was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-tractor, only identified as a 58-year-old North Aurora resident, suffered minor injuries. No other injuries were reported at the scene.

The crash is being investigated by the Romeoville Police Traffic Unit. No charges or citations have been filed at this time.

Car accidents of this type are sadly not uncommon in the US. There are more than 220 million licensed drivers, and on average, 40,000 Americans are killed in road accidents every year. In Illinois alone, 319,146 crashes were recorded in 2018. 21.1 percent (67,453) of those crashes resulted in injuries, while 951 were fatal crashes.

As the investigation into Monday’s crash continues, Kevin Lawlor’s family may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. A “wrongful death” is one that occurs due to the fault of another party. With the help of an attorney, the family of wrongful death victims can seek compensation for loss of companionship, funeral expenses, and pain and suffering following an accident.
