Natasha Dilinger Identified as Victim of Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Alton, IL
Police have identified 27-year-old Natasha J. Dillinger of Bethalto as the motorcycle passenger who died after a collision involving a suspected drunk driver in Alton, IL, on Labor Day.
According to the Alton Police Department, the fatal collision occurred on September 7 at the parking lot of a business on 700 W. Broadway. A vehicle driven by a suspected drunk driver was pulling out of the parking lot when it struck a motorcycle, police said.
Dillinger was a passenger on the motorcycle. She was taken to an area hospital, where she died on September 9 from injuries she sustained in the collision. The driver of the motorcycle, who hasn’t been identified, was also injured in the crash and remains hospitalized, sources indicate. No other injuries were reported.
Prosecutors in Madison County have announced DUI charges against the driver responsible for the crash, who was identified as Erin L. Arras of Belleville. She was charged with aggravated driving under the influence causing death.
“Today we are sad to report the loss of a 27-year-old woman who had a full life ahead of her. This is yet another example of the continued action needed to bring attention to motorcyclists and invoke harsher penalties for those who choose to drive intoxicated,” First Assistant State’s Attorney Crystal Uhe told the press. “My thoughts and prayers go to the loved ones of Ms. Dillinger.”
Since preliminary reports indicate that Arras was responsible for the fatal collision, Natasha Dilinger’s family may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Retaining an attorney to file a lawsuit will ensure the party responsible for the wrongful death is legally held accountable for their negligence. The survivors of wrongful death victims may also receive compensation for loss of companionship, funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and more.
