Shane Bradford of Chatham Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash Near Springfield, IL

Authorities in Springfield, IL, have identified 38-year-old Shane Bradford of Chatham as the driver who was injured in a three-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon.

According to Illinois State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 1:17 p.m. on August 2 on Interstate 55 near Springfield. A green 2017 Subaru driven by 18-year-old Justin Misialik of Chatham was merging onto the southbound lanes near Toronto Road when it struck Bradford’s gray 2012 Kia. The impact caused Bradford’s vehicle to flip and crash into the rear of a Freightliner semi-truck.

Bradford was injured in the collision and was transported to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. His current condition is unknown. No other injuries were reported.

The accident tied up traffic on I-55 for several hours on Sunday. State police said Misialik was cited for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

Car accidents of this kind occur for a variety of reasons. Some involve drivers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, fatigued, or angry, while others occur because of a lack of focus and other avoidable mental mistakes associated with distraction.

Pending the outcome of the investigation in Sunday’s crash, Shane Bradford may be entitled to a personal injury claim. With the assistance of an attorney, personal injury victims can legally seek compensation for medical expenses, future medical care, and pain and suffering following an accident.
