Brush trucks, also known as wildfire trucks, are used to control fires and come to a scene of a fire. Although they do plenty of good, they also hold the potential to cause an accident. If you or a loved one has been injured in a brush truck accident, contact us for a free consultation to see if you may be entitled to compensation.

What kinds of accidents and injuries can occur?

A brush truck can get into an accident when they are rushing to a scene and a car fails to pull over as they approach. This can cause the truck to make a risky maneuver to try and avoid the car, which can cause an accident with them or other cars. This can result in bruises, concussions, whiplash, neck and back injuries, and more. Also, any negligent driving, such as speeding or following universal rules of the road, can cause an accident just like any other car. The only thing is that it may cause more damage since the brush truck weighs so much more than the average car. Brush trucks also have lots of equipment attached to bring to a scene of a fire, such as hoses and ladders. If this equipment is improperly secured, it can fall out and injure another driver and damage their car.

Who is liable?

These lawsuits are based on negligence, which is when one breaches the duty of care owed to another and it directly causes their injuries. Brush trucks can be owned by a government entity, such as the local or state government. These entities often have a strong legal team and can be immune to legal action in some cases. In this case, it is best to contact an experienced attorney to assess the situation and how you can proceed to get justice. Otherwise, if the brush truck is owned by a company, the company can be liable for negligent drivers. This is because they negligently hired someone who could not properly do the job of handling the vehicle. The company can also be held liable for not securing the equipment properly if that causes an accident. If the equipment falls due to an inherent defect in the truck, then the truck manufacturer can be held liable. In any collision accident, it is best to speak to an attorney so that they can investigate the accident and determine liability based on how it occurred.
