I was sent to square two financial after pulling a credit report this past march. I found debt in a large amt for citifinancial. I called them and was told they had no record except that my account was sold to square two financial. I called them and asked when the debt was from, who to and in what amount because I had an old acct with citifinancial but I think I would remember not paying it! I have had the same phone # for 14 years and I'm just now hearing about this? They told me they would submit a request for debt validation and it could take up to 90 days. Its now 90+ days and after sitting on hold again for 20+ min I finally talked to someone who obviously didn't care about a word I said. She said there are no notes about the validation being complete and she is submitting a request to find out what's going on and to call back again in two weeks. I've called multiple times to check along the way and kept being told 90 days. This is putting my getting a mortgage on hold. I'm at a loss. What options do I have and where do I go from here? My credit report says this is from 2007.
