Deck and porch collapses are most common in residential buildings. Some decks or porches are built with weak foundations or flaws which cause them to cave in and collapse on itself. And when residents are on that property, they have the right to sue the property owner, and possibly the deck or porch manufacturer.

What types of injuries can you get?

When these structures collapse, there are many positions that you can end up in that can cause major injury. A victim can get internal injuries, broken bones, concussions or traumatic brain injuries, crushing injuries if caught underneath, lacerations upon impact, or even death from complications or especially severe conditions. These types of injuries can be debilitating and life-changing, which is why you should get the compensation that you deserve from the various losses incurred by this accident.

These injuries may be as a result of a weak foundation, loose screws or building components, rotting wood becoming weaker, or a weight overload. There are regulations that property owners must follow for the safety of their residents. Perhaps, they chose to not follow these at all for money’s sake or for ease. You can sue the property owner and/or the manufacturer of the deck or porch, all depending on the circumstances of your accident.
