Healing a fractured bone can be a long and frustrating process for some people. It may be painful to deal with for certain periods of time, but the healing process is necessary to overcome this injury. If you or a loved one has fractured a bone from an accident, contact Mike Agruss Law for a free consultation so we can help you recover from this experience and get fairly compensated.

A fractured bone obviously hurts at the time of the accident, but it is reassuring to know that this moment is almost certainly the time of the most pain that this injury will cause you. During the healing process, you will not feel the same pain or nearly that amount of pain. The only pain that you may feel includes when you move or position yourself in ways that put pressure or weight on the fractured area. You can avoid this by listening to your doctor’s prescribed treatment and behaving accordingly.

The healing process for any bone comes in three stages. First, the stage of inflammation, which is right after the accident and may last for several days. The resulting bleeding and minor blood clots in the area can cause inflammation near the bone. Then, in the reparative phase, these blood clots form a small callus which is later replaced with actual hard bone. This is the bone beginning to form into its natural place. The last phase is the remodeling phase, which continues for several months depending on the severity of the injury. This is when the bone continues to form as it previously was and hardens to the bone’s toughness so that it can respond to functional activity and weight. Blood begins to circulate as normal in the area as well. The healing time varies depending on the location and type of fracture, but at no point in this time should it noticeably and irritatingly cause pain. If so, you may want to consult your doctor.
