I find myself entangled in a challenging debt collection situation with Eastern Account System attempting to collect $408 from Freight Center. The saga began with the reception of a letter specifying the amount and company name, prompting my sending of a dispute by mail. Subsequent to a phone conversation, I adhered to their instructions and submitted documentation via email on jun 29th, conclusively demonstrating that the charges had been disputed and resolved in my favor by my credit card company. The disputed amounts, totaling $162.27 and $180.70, were duly refunded to me. Despite the resolution with my credit card company, Freight center proceeded to send the refunded amount to collections. Notably, this occurred after a 30-day credit card dispute period, during which there was no indication of any outstanding owed charges. It\'s crucial to highlight that there was never an owed charge for any amount, and there is a glaring lack of clear information about how they arrived at the total of $408. The two refunded charges amounted to $349 in total and were initially paid on my credit card before being refunded post-dispute. Adding to the complexity, the original communication I received, which initiated the dispute, is the same one they used to move forward with collections. All my shipment receipts clearly show a paid status on my credit card, and I vehemently contested the charges as fraudulent due to overcharging concerns. Despite my persistent efforts, Eastern claims they sent a validation on March 9, 2023 and that is what i sent back with a dispute in the mail and acknowledge receiving my mailed dispute on June 10, 2023. During a recent conversation, I sought detailed information about the charges. Unfortunately, the company could only provide the original bill without a breakdown. This lack of transparency intensifies my skepticism about the validity of the debt, particularly considering that all my receipts unequivocally demonstrate that the charges were paid. Moreover, the fact that my credit card company refunded the disputed amounts after the dispute further strengthens my argument that labeling this as a debt owed is inaccurate and demands a swift resolution. The unresolved dispute has taken a toll on my credit report, underscoring the urgency for rectification to ensure an accurate representation of my financial standing.
