The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 gives employees the right to file complaints about safety at the workplace and health hazards that may exist. This act also allows these complaints to be filed anonymously and all complaints are taken seriously.

If you have a concern about hazards at your workplace, or you feel you have been discriminated against on the basis of health and/or safety issues, you can file a complaint in one of five (5) ways. These include:

  • File an online complaint – Workers who would like to file an online complaint with OSHA can do so through the Department of Labor here. If you are worried about anonymity, make sure to file your complaint through your own personal computer or a library computer.
  • Mail in a complaint – If you prefer, you can print out a complaint form and mail it to your regional office, or contact your local office for a form. Please note: your computer must have Adobe Acrobat to view and print the form.
  • Call your OSHA regional office – They can listen to your complaint and answer any questions you may have.
  • File a discrimination report – If your employer has discriminated against you for refusing to work in an unsafe environment or for exercising your employee rights, you have the right to file a report with local and/or federal OSHA offices.

In the event of an immediate emergency, call 1-800-321-OSHA.
