In 1970, Congress enacted the OSH Act which promised workers the right to a safe job. Since the passing of the OSH Act, approximately 579,000 workers’ lives have been saved because of improved working conditions and workplace safety. However, many workplace hazards keep employees at-risk for serious injuries and death, including falls, electrocution, being struck by an object, and being caught in/between objects at the worksite, dubbed the “Fatal Four” by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), among other hazards.

Each day in the U.S., an average of 14 workers die because of job injuries. This amounts to over 5,000 worker deaths every year. This does not include workers who die from occupational diseases, which are estimated to be between 50,000-60,000 deaths every year. Chronic diseases often receive less exposure in the media because they take longer to develop and are often misdiagnosed and poorly tracked. On average, this takes the total daily occupational deaths to 150 workers in the United States.

Many of these deaths could have been prevented. If you or a loved one has suffered injuries due to negligence on the job site or a defective product, an experienced personal injury lawyer can review your claim and determine if there were unsafe working conditions, potential OSHA violations, and other hazards that may have existed at the time of your accident. They will also determine who may be liable for your injuries and damages and what compensation you may be entitled to.
