My online loan account is erroneously linked with another customer’s account, because of our similar Social Security numbers. I am able to see his loan documents and personal information. He likely has access to my account given that his co-signer was able to change my account settings. The disclosure of my credit information without my authorization violates the United States Fair Credit Reporting Act, the United States Right to Financial Privacy Act, the New York Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the New York Security Breach and Notification Act. I initiated contact with Sallie Mae representatives on October 1, 2012. Since then, I have called Sallie Mae repeatedly to follow up on the issue, only to find that no action was taken despite assurances that a work order was activated. I spoke with two supervisors: John, ID# C40209, on November 20, 2012, and Alex, ID# C355669, on December 11, 2012. Both indicated that they would provide me with a progress report within 48 hours but failed to do so. Most recently, I spoke to Kim, ID #C49214, on December 17, 2012. She informed me that the research team was looking into the problem. The problem has remained unresolved for over 75 days.
