Product recalls occur every day and the vast majority of these recalls, 42%, are children’s products. What may be surprising is that 80% of all U.S. toys are made in China and few of these toys are inspected. Each year, over 220,000 children in the United States are treated in emergency rooms for toy-related injuries even with new rules set forth by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) regarding lead and phthalate levels.
