Single car crash in Jacksonville, Illinois

On August 29, 2013, a fatal car accident occurred on Old Jacksonville Road in Jacksonville, Illinois. Sydell P. Nelson, 21, was riding in the front seat of a 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driving east at a high rate of speed, which went off the road around midnight; the car struck and severed several trees, and Nelson was ejected from the car. The driver, Jordan Branch, 21, was seriously injured—he was extricated from the wreckage and taken to St. John’s Hospital. The single car crash was not discovered until about 6:30 a.m., because it was obscured by a grove of evergreen trees.
