I was just looking for information about Genesys National on the internet and found this page. They have been calling me regarding a fitness club debt. Yesterday they told me that they were going to proceed to court with my case and that it could qualify for salary garnishment and that they were going to contact my employer because of the debt!

The collection agency Genesys National Recovery has been threatening me for the last few days. They are collecting a debt from the HCOA gym for a contract that I have been trying to cancel for months. They offer me payment options, I ask them for them and they refuse to tell me the options. They contradict themselves on the amount of money they claim I owe. They say they are sending me documents which I have never received. They send me a document that says I have 5 days to contact them and then they call me and tell me that I have to pay them right away because they will report it to my credit. Days later they call me saying that it is from the Department of Justice of Puerto Rico telling me that I have a claim for more than 60 days and that the amount of money I owe is more than what they had already told me. Besides that I have to pay thousands of dollars for their lawyers. This person transfers me to a representative of Genesys National Recovery. This representative named Mayra Portillo tells me to make the payment for $277.95. She then tells me that I have to sign the receipt and send it back to confirm the transfer. I called my bank and told them that I wanted to cancel this payment because the number they called me from was a fraud and that this lawyer does not exist. They told me that only the company can do this. I call the company again and tell them that I want to cancel the payment and because I have not confirmed the payment under their processes, I do not authorize the payment. The person that attends me transfers me back to the previous attorney who now tells me that he is talking to me about legal services in ponce puerto rico. I explain the situation and he tells me that there is nothing to do, that I have to talk to the gymnasium to which I respond that the same agency had already told me that the gymnasium no longer had anything to do with the case. He transfers me to a person who claims to be his manager. She first tells me that she can't cancel the payment because it doesn't exist and that I should talk to my bank. I told her that I had already spoken to my bank and they told me that they are the ones who have to cancel the payment. The person tells me that they cannot return the amount of $277.95 to which I responded that I knew the amount because she had told me that she did not see the transaction. After many attempts to cancel the person refused completely. I ask him who was the attorney I had spoken to earlier and he first tells me that he is their legal representative and then tells me that he is from the collection department to which I reply that this person impersonated the justice department to which his voice trails off and he says that he does not know about that. Then he starts telling me that they are about 20 people and that he was not going to help me.

Hello Kanisha. This sounds like Genesys National Recovery is giving you the runaround and not helping you to get this resolved. Gym memberships are often one of the hardest contracts to get out of, which you've dealt with. I would like to see how I can help you--please give me a call at 312 300 5996. Thanks, Mike

My whole family has been harassed by Genesys Recovery Inc. They have been making multiples calls per day and even providing contract and personal information to people that has not been authorized. I have tried to make multiple attempts to make a payment but every time they come with a different amount. I don\'t feel this is even real.
