Who is OneMain Financial?

OneMain Financial is a personal loan installment provider based in Evansville, Indiana. Founded as “Commercial Credit” back in 1912, it was eventually acquired by Citigroup and then acquired by Springleaf Holdings from Citigroup in May 2015. The company has 1,700+ branches in 44 states and has been accredited with the Better Business Bureau since 1985, but has received over 700 BBB complaints in the past three years, primarily for product/service problems, advertising/sales problems, and billing/collection problems.

OneMain Financial’s Address, Phone Number, and Contact Information

OneMain Financial’s headquarters is located at 601 NW Second St., Evansville, IN 47708. OneMain’s main number according to the BBB is 812-424-8031 and the main website is www.onemainfinancial.com/.

Phone Numbers Used by OneMain Financial

OneMain Financial likely uses hundreds of different phone numbers to call consumers. Here are some phone numbers OneMain Financial may be calling you from:

OneMain Financial Lawsuits

If you want to know just how unhappy consumers are with OneMain Financial, take a look at the number of complaints consumers have made online. Nowadays, most original creditors, credit card companies, etc. have arbitration clauses, which means that if you have a complaint against that company, you must file your claim in arbitration. Arbitration limits discovery, is not public, has a limited appellate process, and, most importantly, is funded primarily by the banks and big businesses. While it can be difficult to get a fair chance in arbitration, the good news is we have filed hundreds of credit harassment cases in arbitration, and we know how to aggressively fight these cases against the big banks and businesses even when arbitration is necessary.

OneMain Financial Complaints

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) protects you from robocalls, which are those annoying, automated, recorded calls that computers make all day long. You can tell it’s a robocall because either no one responds on the other end of the line, or there is a delay when you pick up the phone before a live person responds. You can receive $500 per call if OneMain Financial violates the TCPA. Have you received a message from this agency that sounds pre-recorded or cut-off at the beginning or end? These are tell-tale signs that the message is pre-recorded, and if you have these messages on your cell phone, you may have a TCPA case against the agency.

The Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA) protects electronic payments that are deducted from bank accounts. If OneMain Financial took unauthorized deductions from your bank account, you may have an EFTA claim against the agency. OneMain Financial, like most collection agencies, wants to set up recurring payments from consumers; imagine how much money it can earn if hundreds, even thousands, of consumers electronically pay them $50 – $100 or more per month. If you agreed to this type of reoccurring payment, the agency must follow certain steps to comply with the EFTA. Did OneMain Financial continue to take electronic payments after you told them to stop? Did they take more money from your checking account than you agreed to?  If so, we can discuss your rights and potential case under the EFTA.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) works to ensure that no information reported to your credit report is false. In essence, it gives you the right to dispute those inaccuracies that you find on your credit report. We’ve handled many cases in which a debt collection agency reported debt on a consumer’s credit report to obtain leverage over the consumer. If OneMain Financial is on your credit report, they may tell you that they’ll remove the debt from your credit report if you pay it; this is commonly known as “pay for delete.” If the original creditor is on your report rather than the debt collector, and you pay off the debt, both entities should accurately report this on your credit report.

Several states also have laws to provide its citizens an additional layer of protection. For example, if you live in California, Florida, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, or Wisconsin, you may be able to add a state-law claim to your federal law claim above.  North Carolina, for example, has one of the most consumer-friendly statutes in the country: if you live in NC and are harassed over a debt, you may receive $500 – $4,000 in damages per violation. We work with a local counsel in NC and our NC clients have received some great results in debt collection harassment cases. If you live in North Carolina and are being harassed by a debt collector, you have leverage to obtain a great settlement.

How can we Use the Law to Help You?

We will use state and federal laws to immediately stop OneMain Financial’s debt collection. We will send a cease-and-desist letter to stop the harassment today, and if OneMain Financial violates the FDCPA, EFTA, FCRA, or any state law, you may be entitled to money damages. For example, under the FDCPA, you may receive up to $1,000 in damages plus actual damages. The FDCPA also has a fee-shift provision, which means the debt collector will pay your attorneys’ fees and costs. If you have a TCPA case against the agency, we will handle it based on a contingency fee and you won’t pay us a dime unless you win.

THAT’S NOT ALL…

We have helped hundreds of consumers stop phone calls from OneMain Financial and we know how to stop the harassment and get you money damages. Once again: you will not pay us a dime for our services. We will help you based on a fee-shift provision and/or contingency fee, and the debt collector will pay your attorneys’ fees and costs.

What if OneMain Financial is on My Credit Report?

Based on our experience, some debt collectors may credit-report, which means one may mark your credit report with the debt they are trying to collect. In addition to or instead of the debt collector, the original creditor may also be on your credit report in a separate entry, and it’s important to properly identify these entities because you will want both to update your credit report if or when you pay off the debt.

THE GOOD NEWS IS…

If OneMain Financial is on your credit report, we can help you dispute it. Mistakes on your credit report can be very costly: along with causing you to pay higher interest rates, you may be denied credit, insurance, a rental home, a loan, or even a job because of these mistakes. Some mistakes may include someone else’s information on your credit report, inaccurate public records, stale collection accounts, or even being a victim of identity theft. If you have a mistake on your credit report, there is a process to dispute it, and my office will help you obtain your credit report and dispute any inaccurate information.

REMEMBER…

If a credit reporting agency violates its obligations under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you may be entitled to statutory damages up to $1,000, and the credit reporting agency will be required to fix the error. The FCRA also has a fee-shift provision, which means the credit reporting agency will pay your attorneys’ fees and costs. You won’t owe us a dime for our services. We have helped hundreds of consumers fix inaccurate information on their credit reports, and we’re ready to help you, too.

Complaints against OneMain Financial

I THINK YOU’LL AGREE WITH ME WHEN I SAY…

A lot of people are complaining about OneMain’s conduct.  If you’re on this page, chances are you are just like the hundreds of consumers out there being harassed by OneMain Financial. Here are some of the BBB reviews and complaints against OneMain Financial:

  1. “The rep who signed me up lied to me. I applied for a regular loan and she came back with a vehicle title loan. I told her it doesn’t make sense since the car will be paid off in 1 year and she promised me after a year I can call up and have them release the title. I have called numerous times and reps tell me they have to have a manager call me. A manager never called and I literally called over 10x’s. I finally got a call form a rep relaying a message for the manager saying they can’t release the title. Poor Customer service and horrible management. Wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.”
  2. “This company is a pure waste of time. I currently have a $2,000 loan that is being reported to Experian that I owe $3,200. I never heard of any company doing this. it makes no sense. I couldn’t get an increase because they assume I own my vehicle never initially asked me this before one representative told me I was approved and another representative said it was denied(A couple of hours later). I will never do business or refer anyone to this company once this loan is paid. A total waste on my credit report and unnecessary inquires.”
  3. “I took out an $8,000 loan and this company is reporting the loan amount of $14,985. When I contacted the company they said the reported amount is what I would pay during the course of my loan. My mortgage is $240,000 and they don’t even report the $400,000 I’d pay over time. That is bad and hurts my credit score. This company needs to report what my real loan amount is for.”

Here are some other complaints and reviews of OneMain Financial on the internet:

  1. “I have a personal loan with [OneMain Financial]. I missed a payment or two. Yes, that is wrong. However, when I pay them, I pay several months in advance. When I tell you they call non-stop; all day, all evening, weekend mornings. NON STOP!! They call your cell phone. They call your job. ALL DAY. It is so annoying! From all different telephone numbers. Once I pay this loan, I will NEVER EVER EVER get a personal loan from them again. They literally HARASS you. I totally understand they want their money but it goes beyond. I have never encountered such annoyance like this before. I so regret borrowing from them. I will also let my friends know not to borrow from them. Not to mention the high interest rate. You can’t even pay towards the principal. Just not right at all.”
  2. “OneMain Financial is a total rip-off. You pay your bill and they keep adding fees. It seems as if you can never pay off the loan. Also, they tell you you’re approved for a certain amount online after your credit is pulled but once you get in the office it’s a different story. Terrible service.”
  3. “Horrible experience with this company. They acquire your account and operate like loan sharks in late fees and adding on charges. Payment arrangements must be recorded to ensure they don’t set you up to their advantage. They prefer to hurt your credit rather than work with you to get current when times are hard.”

Can OneMain Financial Sue Me?

Yes, OneMain Financial can sue you. OneMain Financial can hire a lawyer to file a breach of contract lawsuit against you for the underlying debt, fees, and costs. If you’ve been sued by OneMain Financial, do not ignore the lawsuit; you may have defenses. If you ignore the lawsuit, default will be entered and OneMain Financial may seek to garnish your wages. If you receive notice of a lawsuit, contact an experienced attorney as soon as possible, even if you intend to represent yourself pro se. If OneMain Financial has threatened to sue you, contact Mike Agruss Law as soon as possible; we’re here to help.

Can OneMain Financial Garnish My Wages?

Yes, if OneMain Financial has a judgment entered against you. If OneMain Financial is currently garnishing your wages or threatening to do so, contact our office as soon as possible.

OneMain Financial Settlement

If you want to settle a debt with OneMain Financial, ask yourself these questions first:

  1. Do I really owe this debt?
  2. Is this debt within the statute of limitations?
  3. Is this debt on my credit report?
  4. If I pay this debt, will OneMain Financial remove it from my credit report?
  5. If I pay this debt, will the third-party debt collector remove it from my credit report?
  6. If I pay this debt, will I receive written confirmation from OneMain Financial confirming the payment and settlement terms?

These are not the only things to consider when dealing with debt collectors. We are here to help you answer the questions above, and much more. Whether it’s harassment, settlement, pay-for-delete, or any other legal issue with OneMain Financial, we at Mike Agruss Law are here to help you.

Good Afternoon, I have been a customer, in good standing, of OneMain Financial since April of 2014. Over the past year, I have experienced several difficulties in relation to my dealings with this company, such as their refusal to provide me with requested documents pertaining to my personal loan account. However, in recent weeks, I have been experiencing issues of a far more serious – and, it appears, quite likely even unlawful – nature. These issues include: * Harassing phone calls; * Phone calls to my place of employment (at specific times that representatives of OneMain Financial know that I will not be present, to personally answer these calls); * Threatening letters from the company that demand inaccurate and varying sums of money (even when no amount is owed, as per agreement(s) with the company); * And the false reporting of information to the credit bureaus. Thus, I was wondering if your firm might, perhaps, be able to assist me in resolving this matter. My situation is as follows: This past summer, I established new payment arrangements with OneMain Financial, in relation to a personal loan. (I have tangible supporting evidence of this, in the form of contract(s), phone records, my personal credit reports, and other documentation.) To this date, I have been paying as agreed. In fact, I have even paid more than the agreed upon amount, just to ensure that my account with them remained in good standing. Yet, approximately 4 weeks ago, I began to receive numerous “hang-up” calls from OneMain Financial, in which they rang my cell phone throughout the day but did not leave voicemail messages. (I work from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m., often 7 days a week, so it’s necessary that I try to sleep during the day. I have informed the representatives of OneMain Financial of this fact every time that I have spoken with them, as well.) In addition, OneMain Financial also began calling my place of employment specifically at times at which they knew that I would not be there, and spoke with at least 3 of my co-workers about my loan – including the day shift supervisor. They even contacted a private number, at my place of employment, that I had not provided to them. Just prior to this time, I was checking both my account on OneMain Financial’s official website and my credit reports, and everything appeared to be fine. I had also previously had conversations with representatives who assured me that everything was up to date, as well. On October 20, 2016, though, OneMain Financial mailed to me a letter which stated that I still owed them “$1.00”. (To be clear, that is not a typo; the letter literally states that I owe “$1.00”.) The day that I received this letter, I checked my account on their website, again, and it suddenly showed that I owed “$632.17”. Then, in a threatening, unsigned letter from a “Branch Manager” at OneMain Financial (which contained no disclosure statements), dated November 2, 2016, the company stated that I owed “$376.15”, and that – contrary to my previous agreement with them – they had reported my account as past due with the credit bureaus. At this point, I honestly do not understand why OneMain Financial reneged on their agreement with me or how they are calculating the

I have a loan with One Main and am a little over 30 days late. I've told them I'll pay them when I get out of the bind I'm in. But I still receive about 8 to 10 calls a day.

Hi I have an account with OneMain Financial last summer I had lost my job for a month and I became 30 days late on one payment since then I've been making payments on that 30-day payment and in November I tried to reconsolidated loan to fix that payment since I was late on two or three payments because of that job loss they went out of prove me for a guaranteed RI structure loan so I had to tell them I will continue to make small payments on that late payment and November since then I've got between 30 to 50 calls a month and in February it's already above 60 calls I believe I'm being harassed I've never dealt with a company like this before even credit collector debit companies are not as bad as OneMain Financial!

One Main Financial calling me 30 times in 10 days in Jan. even before payment was due. I called them I lost my job. Then they went absolutely nuts, calling. I didn't have any money to pay. Then last two week of February, threatening me with turn over to attorney because I was 3 months behind. Only two but sending and calling saying I owed them March payment before it was due and adding it to the amount due. That is illegal. At this point, If there is any legal action I want to do so. Harassing me with up to 8 calls a day. Hanging up, leaving messages, all day long. Do I have any rights and as Of today my March payment is due. I have borrowed money to pay January payment without late fees...all I can get. Should I pay this or let them turn over? I am losing hope of work and paying bills, but would like to know if I have a chance to get some of this taken care of under the law that protects me the consumer???

I had taken a small loan with them some time ago and was making every payment on time until last October when I lost 1 of my 3 jobs and could no longer afford to pay the payment and had to pay the critical ones (Home, Car, Gas, Utilities, food etc..) and they relentlessly call me several times a day sometimes in threat to pay the balance or lawsuits would be filed to seize my checking accounts or levy my wages. They use several numbers and most of them I have now blocked!

One Main calls me several times a day. No matter how many times I talk to them they continue to call me. Last month I talked to them during one week and promised to pay at the end of the month. However, they continued to call my job so many times that week that I was reprimanded by my supervisor. I've asked them not to call me at my job as I am not able to take any personal calls but they continue to call. I've noticed that a lot of the time when I give them a date that I can pay they agree to make a note of it in my account but they never do. The next call will be from another representative asking when I am going to pay and telling me the notes do not say anything about the date I agreed to pay. Currently, I have a payment scheduled to be debited out of my account but I am still receiving at least 4 calls a day. I talked to the mgr who said he is aware that there is a scheduled payment but I am still receiving calls. Also, after reading the other complaints I realize that they may have added my car as collateral when I specifically applied for and thought I was signing for a uncollateralized personal loan. Once I got to there location to sign I was presented with an offer for more money but after reading the complaints I am now putting two and two together!

My wife and I took out a loan with household finance. They went through a few changes and now are one main. The 15 year loan is going into its 17th year. They say that accrued interest is still due plus $7k in principal. I am one month behind but the payment is schedule for this Wednesday. We are getting 15 or more calls a day from area codes all over the country and no one is there when we answer. Suspicious. This only happens when late with this company. I am just really upset that they say I still owe $25k and they say we borrowed $37k but we thought it was $19k. Can you help us?!

I have a debt with one main financial and have fallen behind. They are threatening charge off and haven't given me any good option. I have had this account and have been paying for over 14. Sorry, 15 years. I feel I have paid original amounts borrowed at least three times over. They are rude and not helpful. Any advice?!

OneMain Financial has violated the Telephone Consumer Protect Act. They have also engaged in deceptive lending practices. They wanted me to refinance both my cars with them - telling me I'd have a lower monthly payment - I did the math and sure enough it would have been much, much more - not less. I did not accept that loan. I am currently still paying on a very large loan. They call all the time, called me starting at 6 am multiple times a day, even after they had an updated address reflecting that I had moved to a different time zone. I arraigned to make payments and they called me the day before the agreed upon payment date. I asked to have the loan transferred to a OneMain location in my new state - they refused. They have damaged my credit by saying they would do a soft pull on my credit, of course that was a lie too. They think I owe them $13K! Please help!

One Main (previously CitiFinancial) harassed me to the point that I avoided them at all cost because I felt psychologically abused. In the midst of this, one representative followed me to my car yelling at me, on-site. This caused me to avoid them, ultimately leading to a court case and default!

Onemain is harrasing me. I am about 15 days late and they call me about 10 to 15 times a day and is threatening to send me to court over a 15 day late payment. Took a 3500 dollar installment loan with onemain about a year ago. I recently have had to shift when i pay my bills around. So I pay them a few days late sometimes. They call me upwards to 20 times a day and they recently sent me a threat certified mail. Threating to take me to court!

One main calls me about my loan about 5-10 times a day even if I’m a single day behind. I recently had a baby and surgery right after and I let them know that I’m currently not working and I need help on what to do about my loan and they pretty much told me they couldn’t help me that I needed to pay or they’d take my vehicle. This is the first time I’ve gotten behind on this loan and I’ve had it over a year. Principle never goes down either. Don’t know what to do. I can’t afford the loan anymore until I can work again and they Harass me nonstop.

Hi Ashley, this must be very stressful for you. Have you told them to stop calling you? If they continued, then they would be violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and you can be compensated for their violations. Give us a call if you have any questions. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Lawanna. Do you know if these calls that you are receiving are automated messages or a live person? One Main may be violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) if they are using an automated dialer. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding how we can help. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Robert, I would be very frustrated if I were in your position. There are federal laws, such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), that try to prevent such harassment from creditors. If they are violating the TCPA, you may be entitled to compensation for the damages - and we can help. Please give us a call if you have any questions. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Amanda. There are certainly laws protecting you, the consumer from these predatory practices that some creditors partake in. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) are both meant to protect consumers from harassment and violating privacy. It sounds like they may have violated one or both of these laws in what they have done, but I would like to get some more details of your experiences so that I can see how we can help. You can be compensated for the damages that they have caused in each violation. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Mike.

Hi John. There seems to be a lot of stress caused by One Main in all that you have experienced. Luckily, we can help you resolve your issue, just as we have helped several other consumers. I would like to speak with you on the phone to get more details and see what evidence you can provide us with. Please give us a call so we can speak in further detail and if you have any questions. Thanks, Mike.

Onemain has ripped me off since day one. I originally had loan in 2013 and refinanced in 2016 . I have since payed over 10k to them and still owe them the same amount i took out. Yes i had a few ups and downs with payments but even with the amount. Its a trap and the loan never ends. Now i fell behind since november with payments duento medical and financial issues and they herrass me with calls every day as early as 8 am as late as 8 pm from different branches and nbrs. They took advantage when i got the loan because they knew i had no clue how it works. Not sure what to do but it now Went in to collection

One main took an unauthorized payment from my account. I had auto payments stopped back in September of 2019 so this payment was not authorized. I have decided to do a credit relief program and was behind on my payment from January 2020.

my husband and I had got a loan from one main financial back in 2017. We never been late, never missed a payment, and we always paid on time..Back in October we stopped paying them because our balance was not going anywhere. They paid themselves in interest and very little on our principle. I contacted the corporate office back in October to return our vehicles that we used as collateral. I was told that they will not accept our vehicles and if we wanted out of the loan we needed to pay it off or refinance for another with them. I had spoke to someone from the branch in Seaford, DE and I asked about voluntarily repossession and was told that they will not take the cars and that they would take us to court and garnish our wages. I just received a letter in the mail stating that if we dont bring our account current, they will take us to court and use all legal measures.

Paid off Onemain financial. Onemain reported the account paid off on my credit report under account #, but reported a different account # reporting that I owe 247.00. I called to dispute this, Onemain stated it was interest I owed and the actual amount owed was approximately 950.00!

I was paying off my one main loan through a debt agency but the agency stopped charging me. I don’t know if one main is going to try to sue me or not. I stopped paying them when they harassed me and told me to pay more than the past due balance and the guy was rude.

Hi Alexander. OneMain has been known to violate the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) in the past for countless other consumers. This is when they use an automated dialing system to contact you. Do you know if these are robocalls or if a live person is on the line? Please give us a call so we can discuss how we can help you and the details of your experience. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Trista. There are certain debt collection practices that the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) forbids collectors from utilizing for the privacy and peace of the consumer. If they have violated some of these practices in harassing you, they could be liable for your monetary damages. Please give us a call so that we can discuss how we can help you and answer any of your questions. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Shannon. OneMain, or any company, is certainly not permitted to take any unauthorized payment from your account. This is considered harassment and violates the Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA). We can help you under this law and ensure that you receive the compensation that you deserve after such an event. Please give us a call so that we can discuss any questions that you may have. in December I got a 6,000.00 dollar loan through one main for debt consolidation. I paid my payment for January before January and then called and let them know my window in my car broke so I would be behind in my payment. I missed February payment and since the day I owed my payment tell today I have gotten so many calls i had to turn my voicemail off. I have to answer and hang up so It wont go to Voicemail and Monday they started to call my work. they gave my information to the person that picked up the phone and when i called i told them I had to call on my cell phone. I went outside and explained that I couldnt speak at work as it is a recorded line. Lisa the rep who spoke with me then asked me why I was past due a payment and late on the next I told her I understand I am behind but I just picked up a second job and hopefully will be cought up by the end of this month. Mind you I DO KNOW BEING LATE ON A BILL IS BAD. however at this point I am less then 60 days past due. She then said I either have to make my minimum payment of 230.00 or set it up for my next pay period or she will send paperwork to my work. her words exactly were " I knowwhere you work I will just have them garnish 25% of your paycheck if your not willing to pay your bills. we just gave you this money and you are defualting on your loan so i suggest if you dont want leagal action taken against you and embarssment at work you pay what is due NOW." I told her I couldnt do that and i do not like to set up payments because my car and rent need to come fist and i do not want to default on anything and am working really hard on trying to take care of this even going as far as trying to withdraw from my 401K. she then stated " well then i suggest you start pawning stuff or take out a payday loan because it doesnt sound like you have your prioritys straight." when i told her she didnt have to be rude she just said "wow" and then told me fine she will just send this in to legal and go through the courts. This is not my first loan i have ever got but this IS the worst i have EVER been called or harrased on a loan AND the if you want a payment why would you bully someone? I am disguested I even turned to this place and sad that i am now getting up to ten calls a day to my cell twice to work and my mom and uncle as well. i am not even two months past due!!!

I have had a title loan with One main since it was spring leaf. I pay my payments every month sometimes late but I paid the amount I owe keeps changing and going up. They are taking advantage of me my loan should have been paid off a long time ago. Different Reps tell me different things. They harass me call me from different numbers every month trying to say they want to help me but I’m the end they just want me to extend. I need my title back my car is now falling apart I need to trade it in but I want to out of this loan. If you can help me I would truly appreciate it.

Hi Natalie, I'm sorry that you were treated like this by One Main. That is unacceptable and collectors should be working with you to pay off your debts. Please give us a call if you have any more questions. Thanks, Mike.

I had a secured loan through a lender when I received a call from One Main stating they would pay off my current loan and I would receive an additional $1,200. At the time it sounded too good to be true. I was trying to leave an abusive relationship, lost my job and was being evicted. With three young boys to care for, a poor credit score and no hope in sight I had no other choice than to accept their offer. I had no idea that I just signed a deal with the devil himself. My loan was originally right over $6,500 with my monthly payments being $245.00. Due to the eviction, I found myself homeless and sleeping in my car. The same car that was used as collateral on my loan was now at risk as I began to fall behind on my payments. To make matters worse, the clutch went out of my car which left me stranded without a way to obtain employment. I contacted One Main to see if there was any way they could work with me as I could not risk losing my vehicle. They agreed to lower my monthly payments to $119.00 a month for three months but even that was difficult to pay. I tried to explain that I only had a little over $500 a month in SSI and believe it or not, being homeless is expensive. I admit that I was late on every payment and even knowing my situation they continued to repeatedly call my phone from several unknown numbers. It was to the point that I just blocked every number that they called from, however, it did not stop them from leaving enough messages to completely fill my mailbox. This was a daily occurrence. I would call only when I had the money to pay and would ask if there was any other assistance they could offer but the branch manager stated, "I know you get SSI so you should have the money to make your payment." I felt ashamed, manipulated and taken advantage of; I still do. With my finances in turmoil, I sat down to review my debt and make a plan to try and rectify this situation that I am in. It was only then that I began looking over my statements from One Main and couldn't believe what I was reading. Out of a $245 monthly payment, only $2.26 was going toward the principal. Yes, you read it right, $2.26. Not to mention that since my loan date in August of 2019, I now owe more than what my original loan amount and my early payoff amount is in upwards of $7,700!! It is sickening and I am furious that they could do this. Now I am on the verge of losing my only means of transportation and having what little credit I have decline at a rapid rate. One Main disgusts me and they need to stop being allowed to take advantage of people that are facing difficulties to begin with.

My wife and I have been paying my One Main Financial loan for 8 years and are still 50% there. Now, I will take fault in that part as I was "young and dumb" as far as knowing loan terms, interest, etc. However, in addition to what I owe we have "deferred interest" of $3,824.XX. This is expected to be paid in addition to the current principal balance with accruing interest. When I asked about this they said it was due to refinancing and late payments several years back. They never disclosed that information with me when making those agreements. They simply said we know how to bring your account "back to current." Is there a way to dispute the deferred interest?

We have a loan with a 36% interest rate . One main supposed to take ($6.83) per day. After checking loan statements we notice that for 7 -10 months of payments (more than $2,000) only about $20 dollars went to our loan principal. they have put most of it (about 98% ) of our payments on interest. and to pay it off we will have to pay about $200 more. We feel this is wrong. I have never see anything like this., One main loan company in Decatur IL. My husband can give you more details about this. We need help !

I currently have a One Main Liam that I took out in April 2018 for $13k. Today’s balance is STILL over $10k because they apply over 90% of my $500 monthly on time payments to interest! During Covid they reduced the interest to 6% and applied my total payment to interest only! When I demanded to know what metric they use to deny applying more to the balance than principal the guy went OFF on me and never gave a reason and then hung up! They have now increased the interest rate to 39% when my credit has NEVER been bad and I have a 715 score now and was at a 680 when I took out the loan. I have paid over $13k to this loan and to still have a $10k balance is quite shady! I need your HELP

I have been harassed by one main financial for several weeks now. I paid the fees for disability insurance when I took out the loan on my car. They were making the payments for me up till may then stopped. I calmed til ask why and they told me to fill out another claim form with my doctor and submit it, but now they are denying the new disability claim. They say that there is a waiting period of 7 days. Im confused. I explained that this is the same disability from the first claim that my disability never ended but keep getting the same response. I need my car for doctors appointments and I am worried that they will repossess it if I can't get this resolved. I don't have an income to pay them. I took the insurance so if I became disabled I wouldn't have to worry about a situation like this. I don't know what til do. They have calmed me 45 times I over the past few weeks from 2 or 3 different numbers.

Hi I have a loan with One Main Financial and my car is collateral for the loan. I had a hardship due to COVID and I asked for help. They messed up the paperwork and ask me to come in and resign for deferment. Interest never goes down and I pay $272 every 2 weeks. Meanwhile my car is broke down and I am unsure what to do. I have to get a different car. I am afraid they will try to garnish my wages if I can’t pay. I would lose my job. What can I do? Thank you

Electronic Transfers that were not agreed to costs me over $1,200 in fees, and they promised to make it right. Of course, they never did. I also asked for a manager to contact me about it, and they promised they would, and never did. They call many times on my business line after being told not too, and sometimes many times per day.

First of all I was not aware that I have $11,000 loan at 35% interest-rate have a never sign for that they didn’t restructure when I missed a payment to medical reasons and they said through contract in rehab they had to redo things from other words he used. Applied for a loan is still a need a cosigner and I had a cosigner if I try to score of 800+ she said her guarantee me a lower interest rate which is false in room. I believe your break and usually laws and it’s predatory loan

I had a title loan on my car that was free and clear. Covid 19 came, I was no longer working. They offered to work with payments but I had no money and I was sick. I voluntary surrendered the care because that was the contact if I was to default. They had the car and I would speak with the manager to assured me not to worry they would take care of the car. Now Im told they don't have the car and their repossession department says the car is not worth anything and they wont take it back. Why did they give me a title loan if upon default I could not use it as colladral? Now they want the full payment and the car is somewhere is storage. I did go to the DMV and filled out release of liability, notice of transfer. The car is not even in my name

Hi Jennifer, thanks for contacting me. I can understand your frustration and would like to help. Have you been making more than the minimum payments? Have they all been made on time? Two reasons that debt don't go down is due to fees that the debt collector or credit issuer tack on or only small payments are made. We can discuss this further, feel free to contact my office and I can review your payments and determine more accurately why your debt isn't going down. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Gwendolyn. I'm sorry to hear that you've been sent to collections during the pandemic, it just makes an already stressful time even more stressful. Have you contacted One Main Financial to see if they could work with you? Often lenders have a hardship program or relief program, although not every company is willing to be that flexible, unfortunately. Also, you should remember that some of these programs have terms that you must follow to continue to receive the relief they provide. I can discuss this further with you, as well as determine if they are overcharging you on interest. Please feel free to reach out to my office at Phone: 312-224-4695. Thanks, Mike.

I was scammed by one main financial. I originally applied for a 5000 dollar loan. The girl Mandy asst mger at the office I contacted because I applied online and called them to help me get the loan approved. She never gave me a full list of things I needed. She just very fast went through items on the phone. Not everything I neede according to her. Then I went to the office with my brother to cosign with me to help to get the loan approved. Mandy said we need this and that to get the loan approved. Not explaining what is for just that we have to have thatto approve the loan. We had to leave their office and drive to go get the items. Then after getting everything she asked for she was going over everything on a computer screen just telling us that this that and this this not really explaining what they really were and what is really was. Then when she was done with that bambouzal she hands me a check for 3000 dollars. She used my brothers car for collateral and sent a check to pay it off and never even ask me or him if she could do that. The loan total is 15000, not the exact figure but in that range for a 5000 dollar loan request. Now there car payment went from 200 something to 0ver 400. My payment for the 3000 is embedded in that somewhere. A total scam and bambouzal to me and him. That is a rough story of what happened. My phone is not working at the moment but will be soon. Please email me a response back if you can help me out. It would be greatly appreciated!

I did an online app and it wasfor 3 years, I then got a call, they had me come in and as I was signing papers, I say this is 3 years right and she says 5 years I’m like OMG!! But at the time I needed it and I was pretty much all signed my bad. I got $10,000 loan, in January 2019, I pay $342 a month I called a bit ago and again two days ago they said I still owe $9,000 I said how is that possible, I have paid you $7,440 and I still owe $9,000 if I paid today. She said I have 35 more payments, so $13,020 left how am I paying this loan twice??? They tell me well its interest bearing, and technically you got an $11,000 loan because of some fee I forgot what she called it. This juat seems criminal and like they prey on desperate people with not so great credit.

I’ve had an account with one main financial for a few years now. At first it was secured with my truck title. I was then able to refinance the loan unsecured so I could get my title back. I’ve never missed a payment until this past few months. I’ve called and spoke to them. And all they want to know is when they are getting their money. After losing my job in July, I told them I wasn’t 100% sure. That I had to pay other bills that took precedence over a loan payment. Obviously I wasn’t so blunt and worded it more respectfully. I took auto pay off my account and yet today, when I have $63 in my bank account and no income coming in. They went in and took $158.75 out of my account. Now I’m negative over $80. They know my situation and still they do not care. They call constantly. I ha e vm saved from a few of the calls. Can you do something with this. I have owed them over $8000 for it seems over a year now because of their high interest rates. Please help if you can. Thank you so much.

So my father had a loan with them for something like 7500-10000 while he got a much needed surgery to try and offset some bills. Well as it turns out the surgery was not a success and thus my father spoke with his representative at Onemain and they said okay no problem we can up the loan to 25000. Which was fine because it would get paid after the surgery. My father got a pension and was working another job. Making decent income but the problems he had kept him out of work obviously. So when they told him they could up the loan , because he was not currently working(still receiving pension though) he needed collateral AND a co-signer. This is where I come into the picture. A young man with a new family trying to establish myself and provide for my own fiancé and newborn.I don’t trust it so I go with my father and speak to the man. He tells us and reassured us many times that myself as a co-borrower, and my fathers vehicle are just needed to approve the loan and after a few payments we can call and they can remove myself and the vehicle. Well come a few payments later and this never happened. This piece of crap guy apparently doesn’t even work there anymore. My fathers surgery was not a success as they expected and now he cannot work and so here I am. With a $722 payment PER MONTH. For a loan I never saw a penny for and I cannot pay at all. My father is ready to throw in the towel and go 6 feet under and here I am stuck on a loan that I can never pay that we were promised we would be able to get me taken off of. His vehicle isn’t worth nearly even half of the loan amount. And if they take that then he cannot make his doctors visits. At the very least I’d be able to take him if they take the car but this crazy $722 payment holds back a lot. I get at least 4-5 calls a day. Never on sundays though. And I’m scared to answer because I don’t know what will happen. Granted yes. My father needs to pay his loan. And he will, in due time, or god forbid he kicks the bucket he’s capable of squiring a relief for that. But in the mean time now I cannot start my own life or provide for my newborn because of this. Maybe it’s my own fault, maybe it’s my fathers fault. I get it, I signed and it’s my neglect. But this piece of shut representative that doesn’t even work there any more should have never promised he could remove me from it.

I was laid off almost two months after getting my loan. I purchased the insurance to protect me; they said it did not go into effect; I had a couple of days longer before it would. I tried making payments, but I could not afford to on unemployment. Then COVID kicked in. I could not find work, and my husband was laid off. These people call NONE STOP all day EVERYDAY. First thing in the morning all the way to 8:58 PM from their Arizona location. It is insane how much they harass me. I have no problem with paying what I borrowed. However, I have a HUGE problem with being harassed. I also think something is shady when it comes to the insurance I purchased.

Well. They sent one of those fake checks in the mail back in 2017, that if you signed it, you were approved for 5000$ right away, no questions asked. I was a stay at home mom, So these folks knew it wasn’t me making the payments, my husband and I were fighting for custody of his daughter and our truck was broken, he made good money and the payment would be 150/month. Didn’t sound bad, so we agreed to do it. After a year, we decided to file for divorce, and I had just started my job and he had stopped paying for anything including our mortgage and car payment. I found out that despite having paid over 2000, that we had barely made a dent in the loan. I went to see if I could lower the payments and she basically told me that I couldn’t, but I could sign for a new loan with a lower interest. A goddamned joke. It put it back to over 5000 and the payments were still the same. Tried to pay it as long as I could, but I had a family to support first and an attorney to pay for during the divorce. After their non stop calling for two+ months, I tried again to speak with them and get everything settled and they asked if I could catch the payments up with a few that interest would not be taken out of, I agreed and did. Nothing changed. The account was still over 4500 after two years. I eventually stopped trying to work with them and Christ, they called at least six times a day for eight months. I just received a letter from an attorney threatening legal action and stating I owe over 5100$. The bank is a scam and awful.

I owe one main financial I recently had to resigned from my job due to Covid-19 related issues and I can’t pay them anymore. I have missed a couple of payments but caught up to date but when I miss these payments they would harass and call my job I had to ask them to not call where I was working before . They would call none stop and call when I told them I was paying off from previous months the girl called me and was asking me about a payment I had already talked to her about. They call nonstop and it feel uncomfortable they harass. I understand they want their money back.

Hi Krystal. I'm sorry that you're dealing with so many phone calls from OneMain Financial. Debt collectors often think that consumers are trying to get out of paying on their debts, which I've found just isn't true; most people want to pay, they just can't. I would be happy to discuss the calls you're receiving, their reluctance to stop calling even after being told to, and what options you have under the law. I will call you or you can reach me at a time convenient for you at 312-224-4695. Thanks, Mike

I am tired of paying overcharge interest on my loan. I paid them on time and sometimes I made early payment as I’m hoping I would pay less on interest and put more on principal loan. I got behind on payments for 3 months last year, they sent me a repossesion letter if I don’t make payment and so I did ask my family to help me and made up the total fee of $1400+++ ( 3months payment plus late fee charge) it just ended up paying $1.40 on principal and the rest were interest. Please help, O don’t know how to get out of debt from them if my payments will only goes to interest.

I just recently found out that One Main Financial is suing me. The only reason I found out is because my dad said he had gotten some of my mail to his home and when I went to visit him it was from an attorney offering me their services because they said I was being sued. I looked it up on Indiana public cases and sure enough it said that I had been served 10/27/20, but I've never received anything. What are my options?

I can’t afford the high monthly payment but I also can’t afford to be sued

OneMain has harassed us for years. Now they’re threatening to sue. Random men and now a random woman - unmarked no ID - keep coming to our house. I don’t know if they’re here to serve me papers for a lawsuit but we don’t answer the door out of fear. The woman has also been caught on camera hitting our black lives matter flag in front of our home and also cursing at a sign that says not to knock and that we are isolating due to COVID. I feel unsafe in my home with my family. Please help us.

Hi, I've recently contacted your firm about One Main Financial suing me. I'm guessing you all are probably busy this time of year, as I am only able to leave a message with the lady that answers the phones and haven't gotten a call back yet. I'm just wondering am I able to get some advice on how to deal with this. I wasn't aware that they were suing me until I started receiving information from other law firms wanting to represent me, so I looked it up and saw I was indeed being sued. Do you all have any advice about how to proceed in court? Thanks in advance, I appreciate it!

I have this problem with Onemain Financial: I obtained a $5000 loan with them. Being a person who often sends more than thevrequired payment amount, and who pays on or before the due date, I found it peculiar that my balance wasn't moving. I pulled up all the statements, and much to my horror, I can see where each month, they are applying much more of tge payment to the interest as opposed to tge principal. I have dealt with them at leadt twice in the past 7 or 8 years and never had this problem. I called to find out why this was the case, and was insulted with double-talk, and nonsensical answers. I need someone to help me look into this. I printed out all my statements so I have a place to start. I look forward to your response. Sincerely, J. Sherman

I have been having a dispute with one main financial for several months regarding a disability insurance claim.  I filed a disability claim with them after I became disabled in November 1018. They approved it for 12 months and said we could review it again in November if I was still disabled.  Since I continued to be disabled, I asked them when they stopped the payments what to do.  I was told to have my doctor fill out another claim form by one of their insurance representatives.  I did as I was told and it was denied.  I asked them why since this is what I was told to do.  They said the doctor at the practice put down incorrect dates on the form  to have them correct the dates so that it showed I was continuously disabled from November 2018 and we did what they said. After this I got another denial saying I was released to go back to work ( I have not)  and was only partially disabled (I am not) and could work.  I don't know what to do since they keep changing the reason for the denial after my doctor and I explain and do what they said to do.  They have called me literally hundreds of times up to 5 times a day after being told to stop on July 1st of this year.  They claimed I needed to call a different number to have the calls stopped although they called me from several different numbers several times a day.  Please help.  I paid their outrageous interest rate and fees for the insurance so I would be covered if disabled.  I was never told of any limitations on it or that I would be harassed when disabled.  All I want is the remainder of this loan covered which is a little over a thousand dollars and the harassment to stop. They are threatening me with a lawsuit.

I'm not behind on my loan, but I do have a car I need to junk as collateral. I've tried working with them and they keep giving me promises and steps to take to remove lien, only to transfer me to another person that says something different. My vehicle was vandalized and no longer worth fixing. It has over 315000 miles on it. I can't even plate it any longer because it is no longer road worthy. I was told I could send over police report and they would take off lien, so I did and got a call back saying I would have to purchase another vehicle or get a loan through them for repairs. The gentleman who vandalized my vehicle stabbed himself in the throat and honestly I don't want to get into that vehicle again. It was a random act, not anyone I know, but still. I was also told I could sign an agreement to give whatever amount a junk yard would give me over to them and they would remove the lien to do so, but again when I did my steps, they recanted. I requested the pay off amount and it's more than my online app says. It's also more than if I just pay monthly dues, but the contract said there's no early payoff charges. Is there anything I can do?

So they have taken numerous payments I have requested them not to take. They have lied over & over since I lost my job and refuse to process my unemployment insurance as I’m waiting for my state agency to catch up from Covid. My entire state has over 10K people waiting and have been for months. Now they sent a letter saying they are closing my claim until I can make unemployment complete their form! Hi Rachael. How much discrepancy was there between what you thought you owed them and what they were claiming? Have you asked them for a written validation of the debt you owe? Debt collectors are not permitted to fabricate the amount of the debt that you owe, doing so is a violation of the law. Let's talk about your situation and I can help determine if you may have a case against them. Thanks, Mike

I've been threatened by the manager, I've been talked down to and harassed so many times. I was even told to just come drop off my car because that is what was going to happen anyways.

I obtained a loan from One Main Financial and put my car up for collateral. I can no longer afford the payments and I want to surrender the vehicle. I am not behind in payments but, I would like to know how my credit will be impacted. I am unable to trade the car in because I'm upside down. One Main appraised it at a higher rate so I can get the loan.

Years of ruthless harassment from One Main Financial and a debt consolidation loan and fear for several years to come. Constant calls, voicemail email and I couldn't be reached, I was in jail. 62 years old and first for me due to a scam and I'm not sure that one main financial was a part of the scam. I pretty sure I still have their voicemail in my phone. My life went crashing downhill from that point on. My dignity lost in my home town community. I kept in contact told them what had happened to me, lost my job because I was marked as a felon and jailed for something I didn't do. The manager knew I couldn't afford a criminal defense attorney and a civil defense attorney needed both. Alot of court hearings and restitution paid plus covid has financial hardship and ruined my life. At 65 years old today near foreclosure on my home my realtor sold my home within a day to help me avoid a loss. One Main Financial has a judgement lien and delaying the closing. My credit report shows that they wrote off, charged off the remaining balance of the loan. How can they obtain judgement on a loan they no longer possess. I assume that is what charged off implies. I don't recognize other collections company's so don't know what is going on with my Experian credit report and One Main Financials derogatory entry's. Unnecessary inquiries my complaints of one main financial could be several pages in length. Please can you help? These people have haunted me for years. I have complained to the corporate office in Indiana as well, disputed on credit report, now this judgement line against my property. My only income is Social Security and they couldn't garnish there, thank goodness. Please help Janet

I got laid off, already had their unemployment insurance, but was never explained how it worked. I was not sure if I was going to file for unemployment, I told them that I needed more time to figure things out. I received a notice from unemployment that a claim was filed on my behalf on 3/28/21. I never filed a claim, nor did I give permission to anyone to file a claim on my behalf. I then realized that it was one main who filed the claim. Katie also lied on me stating that I said I was going to make a payment on 4/23/21, which I never said. The manager Daniel is unbelievably rude, very unprofessional and they both should be fired. I will be locating an attorney for violating my rights and for filing false claims on my behalf!

I have a loan with OneMain Financial, and I fell victim to an ongoing Data Breach and my personal information was compromised. The Hacker emailed me fake loan documents that looked just like my real ones, so I emailed the documents from the hacker to One main financial in West Sacramento, Ca where my loan is, and the office manager told me that the documents were fake because the logo looked a little bit different. I told the Branch manager that the person had been calling me and said that he was from OneMain financial in West Sacramento and he needed to verify my banking information, but he already knew my social, first and last name, street address my self employment information, banking information which included the routing number and the account number. Then he took it upon himself to go online and change the entire profile of my Bank of the West account and requested that all deposits of $25 or more be redeposited to a Zelle account and venmo. If I had known that OneMain financial had a data breach I would have never taken out a loan and because of them I had to freeze my credit. I constantly receive emails for someone trying to apply for loans in my name. I need help, and I believe that I am no longer obligated to repay them because of the data breach

Hi Jessica. When a lender repossesses a car, they typically sell it to try and recoup the money that you still owe. If they don't get the entire amount, they are left with a deficiency. It is common for the lender to then sue the consumer for that deficiency. Did you surrender the car in exchange for no deficiency? If you had that agreement, they are in violation of it. If you didn't have that agreement, they can still come after you for the difference. I would be happy to speak more about this. Please give me a call and I will also reach out to you as well. Onemain Financial continued to take payments from me after I told them to stop. They even extended the original payment set up for six months until the debt was paid off without my permission. They reneged on a payment settlement after taking money from me and refused to send in writing how they calculated my balance from the entire time I had it. Then their debt collection agency sued me in court and I missed my court date. They won by a default. I attempted to have the default vacated but to no avail.

I had an old account (opened 2014) with Springleaf Financial. Ultimately I defaulted on it approximately 1 year later. Today, my employer advised me that they received a wage garnishment against me for Springleaf. The date of judgement was 11.16.2017! I wasn't even aware that there was a judgement filed. Additionally, the amount is for nearly twice what was owed. I simply cannot afford to have 25% of my wages lost to these people.

I got a loan through One Main almost 3 years ago, at the time I was under the impression is was a 36 month loan and a lower interest rate. It’s a 60 month loan and the amount borrowed was $10,000, I am paying back over $15,000. I feel like paying all this time I barely made a dent. Now due to the pandemic and recent bad weather, I have missed a lot of work without pay. I have fallen behind on the loan and since October at least, I have been receiving multiple calls per day from One Main - always different phone numbers and some sound recorded or pause when I answer, like a delay. They have been relentless with the phone calls and now they sent a document stating I must contact them immediately or they will send my loan to an attorney for collections. I just want to make sure they are doing everything by the law and within fair debt practices within NC. I have never had a company so adamant to call so much and send letters. Please let me know if you can assist or if there is anything that can be done here. Thank you for your time.

One main in Platteville WI and had that loan paid off well now are saying I still owe on loan and won't give me my title back for my car. They called my relatives harassed them about my debt which some weren't even on reference Paige one lady in office told my brother about my business in a bar one night. I was furious about it they call my employer and all times of the day and robo calls. Well I told them anything from that day had to be in writing the calls stopped for a while. Also when I took out loan they mislead me into some kind of insurance if repairs or vehicle breaks down and mislead me told me I wouldn't need any other car insurance well that insurance didn't fly in dubuque Iowa for proof of insurance so I ended up with a $400 ticket no proof of insurance. Also I had disability insurance incase I was injured couldn't make payments they would well now I'm getting sued for a loan that was already paid off once and no title back for my vehicle and seeing me for more than loan amount. They are scammed and they focus on bad credit low income people my husband got sued as well never appeared in court and now has a judgment and that isn't right how they mislead high interest rates and harass you and family members plus tell people who shouldn't know your business unprofessional. I'm appearing in court in February we are going to trial I just pray the judge sees the bs that I have been through Hopefully have enough e evidence plead my innocent. There contract isn't even the contract I have and signed and it has a different date account number its shady how innocent people become there prey and a victim out of it. Needless I can't get loans anywhere because of people I've them. Help me. 16088850806 as time is relatively short before I have trial.

I did a volunteer surrender of the vehicle because I couldn't afford the payments anymore, I qualified for the loan without the vehicle and they still attached the vehicle on there. Then they stated that they couldn't sell the vehicle so maybe I could sell it and pay them? They were all over the place and couldn't give me solid answers on anything, now there stating the loan is over $12k which is absolutely false.

Hi Corey. Debt collectors are not permitted, under the law, to threaten you with legal action unless they fully intend to go through with it. Rarely do they want to take a case to court, it can be much more expensive than the actual debt you owe. However, this doesn't mean they won't pursue a case, which is why a consumer protection attorney can help you with this. If you would like help in dealing with OneMain Financial, reach out. Hi Adam. There are various types of unemployment protection for loans and mortgages, all of which will have variable terms on when and what they will cover. All of them typically have a statement in their contracts stating that the loss of your job must be due to a reason that is "no fault of your own", meaning you cannot use it for a retirement or if you have left your job voluntarily. Do you have the original contract you signed with OneMain Financial for the unemployment protection? If you do, you can send it over to my office at [email protected]. On February 22, I needed a loan of 6k as an emergency. I applied on One Main Financial, and right away we were approved, however, they ran my SSN and realized I had 2 cars under my name, and they wanted one of them to be used as collateral. I have a BMW 2 series with Capital One, and a Volkswagen with Santander Bank. They requested to take the Volkswagen, I did not mind because my interest rate with the Volkswagen is higher than the BMW. They requested: a 15-day pay-off letter from Santander, pictures, proof of insurance, registration, VIN# of the Volkswagen. Then my husband went to their office and signed the contract and only the Volkswagen was listed on the forms to be used as collateral. The next day they called Capital one requested my pay-off amount and paid my BMW without my permission. Now they have the title of a car I did not agree on giving as collateral, I had a very low-interest rate with them. I called them when I receive the congratulation on paying off your loan with capital one, first, they said that wasn't them, they paid the Volkswagen with Santander Bank. Then yesterday they told my husband they made a mistake, but in order to fix it, I have to bring back the 6k for them to change the loans. First I do not have the 6k it was an emergency loan, second, they are the ones who made the mistake, plus I did not give them permission to call Capital One and pay off that car. I need to know what can I do.

One main has taken money from my account twice now on the improper due date. Lack of urgency toward providing a refund. My contract clearly states which date the money should be taken, however the money has been taken 2 weeks earlier twice now. This sounds like a breach of contract

Hi Veronica. It sounds like OneMain Financial really made a mistake and now they want you to pay for it, which is unfortunate and very frustrating. I am going to give you a call to discuss what options you have and what you do and do not have to do under the law in regard to this situation. Thanks, Mike

I recently got a letter in mail from a lawyers office stating they are a debt collector and attempting to collect a debt through one main financial llc. I got a car loan through one main in 2019. Made payments and of course fell behind when COVID hit and I had my daughter and haven’t been back at work due to health issues and unable to afford daycare. Along with my finances being all messed up making sure my child is feed and taken care of, roof over our heads etc. Now I have till April 2nd to respond or the lawyers office will proceed to assume what they have is correct. They haven’t repoed the car but was in repo status so I’m assuming since unable to get car they are passing my debt over to this lawyers office. Please help I need some guidance.

Hi Abby. I'm sorry that you're dealing with such a difficult situation, especially during the pandemic, which has impacted so many people. Debt collection agencies often like to scare consumers, so it isn't surprising to get a letter from a lawyers office about your auto debt with One Main Financial. Fortunately, you do have some options and the law protects consumers--let's talk more about this when I give you a call. Thanks, Mike

Hello, I applied for a loan with One Main Financial in August of 2021. My payments began in September of 2021 and I’ve been making my payments on time each. I’ve been paying on this loan for 8 months and have not seen the balance go down more than $200.00. I do not understand how I can pay on a loan consistently for 8 months and I don’t see any progress. When I started my balance was $5396.32 and 8 months later paying $183.48 each month my balance is still $5224.25. I will never pay this loan off because I don’t think it was ever designed for me to. I need help immediately. Thanks

I just received a complaint from a lawyer representing One Main Financial because I haven't been paying on my loan almost as long as the pandemic hit when I lost my job. I've struggled to find work and tried to talk One Main into letting me pay a lower monthly payment but they were not willing to work with me to lower my payment. Also, when I took out the loan, they tacked on a whole bunch of things that I didn't understand were going to cost me extra money, like life insurance and things. The person who gave me the loan also rushed through the paperwork and just told me whatever the papers said and made me sign rather than giving me time to read over everything. I am wondering if I can counter sue them for predatory lending?

Hi Nathaniel. Debt collectors are permitted to call you seven (7) days a week--there is no "off" day (example, many people believe Sunday's are off-limits; they are not). They cannot call you outside of the legally permissible hours of 8am-9pm and they aren't permitted to harass you. If they are doing so, they may be violating your rights under the FDCPA. We can chat about this when I give you a call, but you can also reach me sooner at 888 572 0176. Thanks, Mike

A manager at one main financial in Paducah, Ky released my payment information with my sister in law without my permission. They call nonstop and when I called them back to ask about why she did that. She said she did not say anything about it to her. But I was sitting right beside her when it happened because my sister in law was calling about her loan and my name showed up on the caller id because she is on my cell phone plan. My sister in law said her name when she got on the phone and the lady said she did not. But even if she didn’t hear her I feel as if they should confirm who they are talking to without going any further in the conversation. My sister in law stopped her when she realized it was not information relating to her account. But at that point she had already released information on my payments.

I've removed direct pay from my account two in May 2022 after the took more than one payment before. Just today June 13, they took another payment from my bank account after i removed my bank account from the account. My car was totaled and USAA gave One Main $7700 on May 27, 2022 to my account and One Main still haven't accredited to my account yet. When i got this loan i was told it was an unsecured loan that didn't needed my car as collateral. Now, I've been told the loan is for the car and they let me over borrow off a car that's not worth the loan I've taken. Also, when they say you can apply for another loan and it will not hurt your credit. They lie everytime. Let me know if you can help.

Complaint for OneMain financial. On June 6th 2022 OneMain attempted to debit my account for the payment of $93.25. The money was not in my account so the payment did not go through. On June 8th I called in and spoke to Stacy. I asked if I could make the payment over the phone. Stacy said I could pay the payment over the phone and there would also be a non sufficient fund charge. I advised that I understood and she processed the payment of $113.25. On June 9th 2022 One main then attempted again to debit my account for $93.25 and because the money was not in my account it caused my account to be over drafted into a negative figure. ($27.50) I called One Main Financial again and spoke to Stacy again and explained that she had just taken my payment over the phone yesterday so another debit should not have gone through my account. Stacy then tells me that their system can pull for the debit up to 3 times and when i called in to pay it she Assumed that the system had already tried the 3 times to debit it. I then explained that I completely understood what she was saying but she should have told me the day before when I asked if I could pay it over then phone. Had I known they were going to debit my account even though the bill was already paid of course I would have just waited for them to debit my account again. Stacy advised that there was nothing they could do so I asked to speak to her manager. She said she would have him call me. She transferred the call to David. The next day I had t heard back so I called back in and spoke to Stacy and asked for a timeframe for my callback. She placed me on hold and then transferred me to David. I explained the same information to David. He said that One Main didn’t re-debit my account on June 9th, that my bank, Community One is responsible for reprocessing the debit for $93.25.. He said he used to work for a bank and it’s the bank that re processes the debits, not the company who is seeking payment. I spoke to my bank. They said that they are not responsible for reprocessing the payment. It’s One main who is requesting the payment again. And that they would be responsible for reimbursing me the $27.50. David from One main said that was not correct so I asked him to speak to his manager/Boss. He said he would have him call me. I asked for his name and he said it was Shawn. I asked if there was a timeframe for the callback and he stated that he could not give me a timeframe because Shawn oversaw multiple stores. It is now June 14th and I have not received any reimbursement nor a callback from Shawn. Originally I wanted to simply be reimbursed for the $27.50. That seemed like an easy enough request. Now, I had to use my $10.88 mileage check from my job to pay a portion of the overdraft fee. And I have a child support payment coming to my bank account for $14.12 that I have to use to get my account out of the negative instead of using it to provide for my children. It’s hard enough to stretch a $14.12 child support payment without having to use it because a company wanted to steal money from myself and my children. I am so sick of big businesses being able to do whatever they want and not have any consequences. So I am seeking legal action against OneMain Financial and I will be sure to let everyone know that this company does not mind taking out of the mouths of children… You were already paid plus a late fee and had no right to charge my account again. For my time and the added stress of not being able to purchase 2 Little Caesars pizzas and some toilet paper for my household, I will be obtaining legal action and requesting at minimum $10,000 reimbursement. (I will also be reviewing my contract because I believe the payment is to be taken out on my actual pay date. That is what I signed up for so this type of thing would not happen. )

I took out a $1,500 loan Jan 2019 after my fiance passed and I needed to move into another home. Paud in time for 10 months and relieved a letter offering a larger loan at the same I needed dental treatment so they consolidated what was left of the loan with my new one for $3,000. They have my car title for collateral. I e paid close to $5,000 total which is already over the $4,500 I borrowed and my account says I still owe $5,900 because it's daily interest so I'll nevernpay it of with my monthly payment of $260. They are conartist that take advantage of emergency situations for us and it's so much paperwork it's impossible to understand. I refuse to over okay by $7,000. I stopped paying on the 15th and they call non stop but I would rather give them a car worth about $4,000 then okay another cent. This should not be legal. I'm more in debt BECAUSE of them and credit score is horrible now. They should be ashamed of there self taking advantage of robbing the peole of already bad circumstances. The elderly that are in fixed income and people that are less fortunate. They feed off of it and someone needs to stop them and they need to be shut down. Faith Hilliard

Have documented over 20 calls daily no joke and text communication with them asking to stop never in my life has this happened and I trace every number that comes to me so they are logged as “one Main 2.0 through 11.0 they use different numbers but searches will confirm the number has called others and it’s one main. I’m past due and want to resolve this I’m interviewing and will land a 6 figure job eventually but in the interim I can’t even pick up the phone have to keep it on DND because I’m called morning to night and they have been warned and even argued with me that they never call more than 3 times a day so they know the law AND blatantly violate it so yeah- I’d love to knock a chunk off my balance owed just for them hammering me all day which serves NO BENEFIT

I receive upwards of 5 calls per day from different reps and different numbers at One Main. They are filling up my vm with the same message over and over again which makes it hard for me because I am simultaneously looking for employment and no one else can leave a message until I delete theirs. They have called me at work twice now and I have told them twice now I cannot talk at work. They send me letters sometimes multiple correspondence in the same week. My payment was less than 24hrs late and they were on the phone calling me. It is like they eagerly waited for the due date to roll into the next day, so they could pounce. Their autopayment option is also sketchy at best. Once I made a payment before the due date and they took a 2nd payment on the due date itself putting me at a negative balance. You cannot cancel an autopayment if you are overdue and there is no other account that does this to me. I asked them to send me an email with any information they wish to discuss with me, but they tell me it must be over the phone which I do not want because they can say one thing on the phone and deny it later without a paper trail. Can you help me? I want to pay the debt but when I have to spend so much of my time asking them to leave me be, it takes away from time I could be spending searching for a better job so I can pay them.

I have a loan with this company I missed three payments and instead of doing a payment over the phone I sent them a money order for the full amount that I am past due. They refused to let me send them a copy of the money order with the number on it and forced me to leave a check on file knowing that it was bad knowing that I had no funds in my account and know that it would bounce. Then the told me that BOFA would reject the payment anyway and the funds would go back into my account in a few days. They told me I had to have a payment posted by the 31st of July first they said my account was already being looked at by the repo team and then said I would come out of the office and go into collection. I also told them that I could not do one time payment of almost 500 seeing I only bring home 600 a week and they told me to bad.

One Main called all day everyday over a bill that I informed them I paid it thru another One Main Company. Also informed Patricia to stop calling my phone because I just had surgery I need rest and answer other phone calls from care giver to see about me, kids school. You see l had to turn off my phone and rerouted my calls to family member because Patricia and One Main Manager calling my phone all day ever second. Also misrepresent about percentage on my account and lied saying that it I make a payment late fees percentages put to the end of the contract. That was a lie over charging and misrepresentation of Auto Service is. Oh us. The company did not cover none of the cost for automobiles that needed repairs. One main stated that Auto Sevice can be use immediately for car repairs, etc. it was a lie but will not remove this off our contract and cancel all fees for not being honest. Why we paying for a service we cannot use.

Opened a loan with Onemain financial in July of 2017... The rep I dealt with 'sold' me the insurance for the loan which included loss of job coverage, illness coverage and even roadside assistance... My problems started shortly thereafter. When I got sick, had multiple surgeries, and lost my job - I contacted Onemain to initiate a claim with the 'insurance' which I had agreed to. Every time I approached Onemain, they would instead offer me a modified payment etc etc - they did not ever send me the forms to initiate a claim etc.. Finally in 2021 I had enough of their shenanigans and told the Onemain manager to that I would make a payment when I received the insurance forms - instead, Onemain filed a lawsuit against me for $3800 + legal fees. I was served by a process server 20 minutes after returning home from a surgery center actually.... nothing like being served and having absolutely no memory of it. These people are not human. The company is dishonest, and their employees are modern day financial pirates.

due to poor services I was injured on their property in my lawn while attempting to fix my garden from which I harvest medicinal herbs and the like, I tripped on a ridge of dirt where they had updated the electric as the former outdated box was replaced (because it burnt out)with a new electric box, i was w/o electric for 105.5hrs. I had a personal generator that I used and I supplied the fuel, I am disabled. I have Breathing issues and a host of other conditions that make the AC in my mobil home a need not just a desire. MY ROTATOR CUFF IS TORN IN MY RIGHT SHOULDER! As a direct result I have gotten behind and have been attempting to \'catch up\'. But w/ the fees they have and the unfounded \"charges\" for \'violations\'. I have had the police called on My boyfriend for unfounded and/ a file was never opened, accusations have been made against his character. They have been removing Old homes from the Park and HAD a CHILD actually A toddler on the site where the mobile home was removed. W/O a visible permit, this is why we believe the police were called. anyhow my shoulder is still in pain and limits my activity further and the Bulling and harassment has made the depression anxiety and bipolar to go crazy. this was also during the pandemic, I am part of the workforce known as the working disabled, I\'ve had so many issues that surgery at the time was not possible and I did NOT believe I was injured this badly, and need it fixed. when the complaint was made there were like 7 inch digs in my lawn which I allowed plenty of time for them to Patch the yard and refill it after the job was completed.

One Main Financial calls me at least 7 times a day from 7 different numbers. I have made payments on time for the most part and have been compliant when they offer a partial relief payment. They are intrusive- want to know all about my home situation, etc. I understand that I took this loan out in good faith, however the harassement needs to stop. Is there anything I can do? thank you

I took out a loan with One Main in May. I have fallen behind in payments due to a job change where I took a huge pay cut. Reps from OneMain call at least 30 times a day and now are texting that my car is secured in the loan, which is false. I made sure to tell the rep I refused a secure loan and would be unsecured as I did not want to refinance my car with OneMain, considering I was almost done paying off car. I tried to log into my account to pull up my contract and they have blocked me from logging into my account. Is there anything I can do?

One main has just issued a breach of contract lawsuit against me, but they issued the loan on illegal pretenses by using my car as collateral, but I still was and am now paying on the vehicle.

OneMain has called me 21 times since Monday of this week. I have no idea what this is regarding, and I’m about at my wits end. No messages are left, no emails sent, no letters sent. Absolutely absurd and should be illegal.

One Main Financial has started a lawsuit against my husband for a personal loan that he took out with them (my name does not appear to be on the loan) in April of 2019. We have fallen into some bad times and were unable to keep up with the payments. We were unable to obtain our original loan documents from their website so we replied to the lawsuit asking for a copy of the loan documents. They have sent them along with a \"Plaintiff\'s First Request for Discovery\" (which I have no idea how to proceed with). I have my own bank account (a business account) that is in my name only. Will they be able to seize my account? Also, he is an independent contractor, will they be able to garnish his wages?

I work in a financial firm and ten years ago, I took out a loan with One Main Financial. I had trouble paying it back as it is a predatory loan. I asked for loan forgiveness in 2015 as I had several surgeries and was out of work. The account was closed. Three years later I got a notice from an attorney named Peter Lake in VA Beach, VA. They told me that the account was never closed and wanted me to sign a payment agreement with them. I told them that I had proof of health issues and that I had asked for the loan to be closed and it was. At the time I spoke with them in 2018, I gave them my current address, phone number, and email address to contact me. Yesterday a policeman showed up at my financial firm with a garnishment summons to garnish my pay. I was humiliated. Researching court records, I realized that they had not only come after me in March 2023, they attempted to garnish me at an old job back in 2019. The court case was closed. Anything and everything on my credit report regarding One Main had been closed and even removed years ago. Now I am humiliated and at risk of losing my job.

I have a loan with OneMain Financial that I have been paying on for over a year with absolutely nothing to show for it coming off the principal balance due to the high interest, also I feel like I\'m being harassed every day multiple times a day by them calling me whenever I get behind on my payments. Just today alone I have received atleast 4 calls from them from different numbers which I obviously can\'t answer in the middle of a weekday because like most people I\'m working.

I have a complaint against One Main Financial Group, LLC., located at 1571 S. Harbor Blvd., in Fullerton, CA. This company has predatory lending practices and have been harassing me with multiple phone calls throughout the day (including Saturdays) and are calling from at least 14 different numbers. On August 1, 2019, I got a loan in the amount of $27,762 for a five-year-term. My monthly payments are $816.42 at and APR of 26.94%. My last payment should be in August 2024. Due to the pandemic I had to quit my part-time job and shortly after had a heart attack. I am disabled and on a fixed income and was late at times, but still managed to make my monthly payments. In addition to their late fees, they charge anywhere from $13 to $15 per day when you\'re late. They apply so much money to the interest and not much to the principal. As an example a couple months ago, I paid over $1300, because I was one month late, and $3.75 was applied to the principal and the rest was paid in interest. I will never pay my car off, because of their deceptive lending practices. As of today, my balance is $21,374.48. How is this going to work if I should only have 14 months to finish off this loan. I initially got the loan to pay off my credit cards, but they held my car as collateral and paid the remaining balance on my car, so the term was longer. The representative told me that this loan was going to work for me. Well, needless to say, it didn\'t and has not worked out for me with their extremely high interest rates. I have been trying to get copies of all my statements to calculate how much I have paid to this company, but they have yet mailed them to me. The only statements that I have are one from 2019 and one from 2020 and the rest from 2021 through May 2023, because they only who two years past statements on their website. I am frustrated with this company harassing me everyday as well as not seeing my remaining balance go down.

I opened up a loan with One Main Financial in 2021, all payments were made as scheduled the first year, I feel behind, and there have been times when they called my phone 4x a day over the course of week which I know is a violation of the FDCPA. I should have made a complaint months ago!

OneMain Financial Collection Harassment. Pay extra for an involuntary loss of income policy and I have provided information in person and online 2 times to get that policy into effect since April. They send snail mail notifications to alert for items they need when I have proven this each time. Each month I have agreed to pay a temporary 50% payment on the amount to keep credit in good standing while the policy takes effect and I\'m no longer able to do that. This doesn\'t stop the collection calls or get one department to cooperate with another.

One Main failed to verify the debt as requested nearly a year ago. They refused to give us a copy of any application that was filed in our names. We were victims of identity theft a few years ago, and this is the last thing on our credit reports that is still fraudulent. In addition, they sent us a letter last year saying that we were trying to defraud them, and they would not comply with our requests for any verification. We need to know who did this, and stop them from harassing and defaming us.

Good morning, I got a $9,000 loan from OneMainFinancial about 2.5 years ago. I have been paying on time within a month, but my loan balance is not going down. I called them they said they charge $8.75 a day if you don\'t pay by the due date. That was the first time I heard about that. I asked them to send me an agreement, but they still haven\'t sent it. I felt like I am getting ripped off.

Questions about my installment loan. I think they are playing games with the way they charge daily interest. My statements show things like $1 of a $300 payment going to principal, and the rest for interest, for multiple months at a time. Also, my car is the underlying asset, and is nondrivable. I have asked them total it out, but they refuse to help, and it sits parked in a less-policed area of NYC, at risk of being towed.

I have a loan with One Main Financial. I pay this loan every month. I have told them mulitiple times that my pay date is the last day of the month, and they will not move the payment date by a couple of days. They call continuously to collect payment the second it is due. I have not paid them this month out of frustration of their harassing behavior. They call at least 4-5 times PER DAY.

I have a loan with OneMain. I have been texting them and they said specifically via text, \"If you pay the settlement amount of $6,259.09, your report would be updated that this charged-off account has been settled in full.\" I asked for clarification and she said yes again, today I get this via email: Your account will be reported to the credit reporting agencies as \"paid in full for less than the full balance owed.\" They lied just to get me to pay. Can we do anything?

I have a personal loan with One Main. Have a 2010 Ford tk as collateral. The truck is not driveable any longer. I have asked them how much i would need to get out of it for them to release title. They told me no less than $8500. NO ONE is going to pay that for a truck with bad motor and flat tires. I have asked them to either work with me and let me sell it for what i can get or for them to come get it. NO RESPONSE at ALL! I am holding my payments til I hear from them

I currently have a loan with Onemain. This month\'s payment is 1 week late and they\'ve already called me at least 15 times. I used to work for a financial company and we weren\'t allowed to call a customer more than once a day, and then that was spaced out into different periods of dates. I\'m just surprised how quickly they call and some days it\'ll be 4 times. I was thankful for the loan but they are kind of annoying to deal with. They tried to sell me additional programs with the loan, but I declined them all.

One Main Financial and them violating the 7 in 7 debit collection law. They violate this every month. My payment date is scheduled for the 18th of every month, however I am paid every 2 weeks so pay day does not always fall on the 18th. As a single mother with one in college, I live paycheck to paycheck and I do log into their website to schedule a payment and sometimes the payment is 10 days or 20 days past due but never 30. Even with me scheduling this payment online on their official website, they begin calling me on the 19th to collect my payment. Just this week I began tracking how many times they call me because their calls are interfering with my daily employment. I use my personal cell phone for work and they constantly call my cell phone several times a day and then immediately call my work number. My boss is becoming annoyed with these calls as they are coming in during my working hours and I have let One Main know that I am not able to accept personal calls on my work phone nor during working hours and they ignore me. So just this week alone, from 12/26/2023 to 12/28/2023, they called me 8 times. See times below: Cell 12/26 3:41 PM Cell 12/26 6:02PM Cell 12/27 12:05PM Cell 12/27 3:40PM Work 12/27 3:47PM Cell 12/28 11:50AM Work 12/28 11:52AM Cell 12/28 12:13PM This is in clear violation of 7 in 7 and I can go back to other months and show the same. These harassing calls to make a payment that one is already scheduled and two not even 30 days late is starting to cause me anxiety when my phone rings, my manager has already made comments to me about these calls interfering with my work day. This needs to stop and One Main needs to understand the laws in place to protect consumer such as myself. FYI, I have other payments in which I am not able to pay on the due date due to my pay schedule and I AM NEVER harassed like this unless I am 30 days past due. I am concerned that these calls from One Main will cost me my employment.

I have told them a total of 5 times to stop calling me and to remove me from their lists. I even block the numbers. They just keep using a number generator to keep calling and harrassing me when I told them I am not interested and to stop calling. I told them the last time they called the next time they call, it will be an attorney contacting them back . I am getting sick of the calls. I do not owe them money they are trying to get me to sign up for a loan due to something to do with covid debt relief.
