Skull fractures can be very traumatizing and/or life-altering injuries. They occur when some type of strong force breaks the cranial bone (skull). These fractures can also be accompanied by some type of brain damage if the broken bones expose the brain or touch the brain in an abnormal manner.

For the most part, all skull fractures are caused by an impact to the head that is strong enough to break the skull. Specifically, this is most often after a car accident and your head bangs against the pavement or some part of the car, a harsh fall causing you to fall on your head, being hit with an object like a hammer or a ball during a sports game, or any other type of trauma. It is important that people that have been in any type of accident seek medical attention immediately so that they can prevent any further damage and diagnose whatever the issues might be following the accident.
