A vehicle is a machine that transports people or cargo. They need not be powered by any type of technology, necessarily, as bicycles and wagons fall into the category of vehicles also. However, it is necessary that a vehicle has some type of energy to drive it. For instance, a car is typically powered by fuel, a bicycle is powered by human power, and a streetcar is powered by overhead lines.

To operate a vehicle, one must have a valid license or certification corresponding to the type of vehicle, such as a driver’s license. Vehicles also must be registered with the police department, secretary of state, or similar type of official agency. In the case of an accident, this also helps officials or insurance companies to identify the parties involved and take notice of the accident.
