How do you wrap a broken rib?

If you or a loved one has fractured a bone from an accident, contact America’s Consumer Lawyer for a free consultation so we can help you recover from this experience and get fairly compensated.

A broken rib occurs when one or more ribs are cracked or broken due to a strong impact to the chest or stomach. In the past, doctors would recommend wrapping the broken rib to immobilize it and keep the area together. However, this standard of treatment is no longer recommended.

The reason wrapping ribs is no longer recommended is that it increases the risk of the injured individual from catching pneumonia or a lung infection. It restricts breathing and can put the person in additional danger. Doctors no longer recommend this and they suggest rather to ice the area, take pain medications, and rest.
