Hello Victoria. I'm very sorry to hear about your brother and I'm also sorry that you're dealing with these calls during a difficult time. When someone is sick and isn't expected to recover, their debts don't automatically get written off. Typically, the estate will be responsible for those debts after the debtor passes away. That does not mean you would be responsible for his debts, unless you were a cosigner on any of them. The law is complex and it is a good idea to discuss this with a lawyer. I'm POA for my brother who went on Medicaid June 1, 2021. He is also on Hospice and bedridden in a nursing home. I informed all his creditors of this and the fact he could not pay his bills. JC Penney/Synchrony has been the worst at continually calling (until phone # removed), emailing or sending certified letters wanting payment. His other cards are: PayPay/Synchrony, Discover, Capital One (he has 2 cards), Merrick Bank and First Premier. My brother's life expectancy per the doctor is 6 months or less. I need these credit card companies to leave me alone! I have even sent a letter signed by the doctor stating as much asking them to close these accounts and write them off or whatever they do, with no luck! Help!!

I am currently on a call with 9725123475 for a duration of 4 min 27 sec. Nobody on the other end will speak. Since they are the ones who contacted me, this is a blatant form of harassment and I will be calling local authorities about these calls. FYI call is at 5 min 40 sec now with absolutely no response.
