Your insurer, however, may only replace your vehicle as long as: 1) the replacement is comparable to your stolen or damaged vehicle. This means that it’s from the same manufacturer and is the same model year, style, price range, and is in as good or better condition. And, 2) it’s from a licensed dealer from that is within a reasonable distance from your home and is available for your inspection. If the vehicle is four years or newer, your insurer is required to buy the replacement from a licensed dealer unless you waive this in writing.
