Every day, says NIOSH, approximately 100 farmworkers suffer a lost-work-time injury. In 2014, 12,000 youths were injured on the farm, with 4,000 of these injuries directly related to agricultural work.
In 2017, there were 416 deaths to farmers and farmworkers due to a work-related injury, or a death rate of 20.4 fatalities per 100,000 workers. The leading cause of death for these farmers and farm workers was transportation incidents including tractor overturns.
