I am a co-signor on my daughter’s college loans which are with Navient. My daughter is married and has been making her payments. This past summer she closed out her checking account that she held in her maiden name and notified Salle Mae of the new checking account with her husband. It was confirmed that the change took effect. Well it appears that Sallie Mae does not know what they are doing. They have put my daughter through such turmoil by using her old checking account to extract her monthly payment when they are fully aware of the checking account change. She has been on the phone with them and so have I explaining over and over again what THEY did wrong. Each time we were given excuse after excuse, first it was that it takes 30 to 45 days for the change to process which is ridiculious, no where at the website does it state this. In these times of technology you are going to tell me that they cannot process a checking account change? That’s absurd. This has been going on for months and now they have her account as being deliquent. They even have the Higher Education Dept contacting her and she had to explain the mess that Sallie Mae created. She spoke with them on Friday and was told that they had all her documentation that was faxed but nothing was done with it, she was very upset with then and got to speak with a manager. She was told they would credit back her old checking account so that she could move the money into her new checking. Well that did not happen today, they had all weekend to this and only deposited one payment which still leaves her short. She is a teacher and does not have time during the day to be on the phone with Sallie Mae. They also call me and now this is bordering on harressment. I have explained to them that they are the ones that screwed up, not my daughter. If they would have done what was requested and took payments from the correct checking account none of this would have happened. I do not want this effecting my credit history or my daughter. This is ludicrous, to put us through of all this is unacceptable. When you try calling at night you get customer service overseas which I am not going to get into here, they can’t help you at all. I want them to own up to their mistake and correct their error. My daughter has increwed charges on her account and this is giving her an ulcer. I am done with Sallie Mae and they need to make amends on this ASAP. I will go to a public forum if I have to and report them consumer reporting on local TV News channels. I can’t imagine how many other people they have screwed up on their accounts. They are disgusting and should be ashamed of themselves for putting people through this.
