Who is Nationstar Mortgage?

Nationstar Mortgage Holdings is a company based in Dallas, Texas, and its mortgage service was rebranded as “Mr. Cooper” in August 2017; at that time, it had over 3 million customers and a servicing portfolio of about $500 billion, making it one of the country’s largest mortgage servicers. Nationstar, which is also now recognized as “Mr. Cooper” by the Better Business Bureau, is not accredited by the BBB and has received over 1,700 BBB complaints in the past three years, primarily for product/service problems (800+) and billing/collection problems (700+).

Nationstar’s Address, Phone Number, and Contact Information

Nationstar is headquartered at 8950 Cypress Waters Boulevard, Coppell, TX 75019. The customer service number is (888)-480-2432 and the main website is www.nationstarholdings.com/ for Nationstar and www.mrcooper.com/ for Mr. Cooper.

Phone Numbers Used by Nationstar

Like many creditors, Nationstar may use many different phone numbers to contact debtors. Here are additional number Nationstar may be calling you from:

  • 210-996-2296
  • 612-808-8170

  • 855-313-0994

Nationstar Lawsuits

If you want to know just how unhappy consumers are with Nationstar, take a look at the number of complaints consumers have made online. Nowadays, most original creditors, credit card companies, etc. have arbitration clauses, which means that if you have a complaint against that company, you must file your claim in arbitration. Arbitration limits discovery, is not public, has a limited appellate process, and, most importantly, is funded primarily by banks and big businesses. While it can be difficult to get a fair chance in arbitration, the good news is we have filed hundreds of credit harassment cases in arbitration, and we know how to aggressively fight these cases against the big banks and businesses even when arbitration is necessary.

Nationstar Complaints

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) protects you from robocalls, which are those annoying, automated, recorded calls that computers make all day long. You can tell it’s a robocall because either no one responds on the other end of the line, or there is a delay when you pick up the phone before a live person responds. You can receive $500 per call if Nationstar violates the TCPA. Have you received a message from this agency that sounds pre-recorded or cut-off at the beginning or end? These are tell-tale signs that the message is pre-recorded, and if you have these messages on your cell phone, you may have a TCPA case against the agency.

The Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA) protects electronic payments that are deducted from bank accounts. If Nationstar took unauthorized deductions from your bank account, you may have an EFTA claim against the agency. Nationstar, like most collection agencies, wants to set up recurring payments from consumers; imagine how much money it can earn if hundreds, even thousands, of consumers electronically pay them $50 – $100 or more per month. If you agree to this type of reoccurring payment, the agency must follow certain steps to comply with the EFTA. Did Nationstar continue to take electronic payments after you told them to stop? Did they take more money from your checking account than you agreed to?  If so, we can discuss your rights and a potential case under the EFTA.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) works to ensure that no information reported to your credit report is false. In essence, it gives you the right to dispute those inaccuracies that you find on your credit report. We’ve handled many cases in which a debt collection agency reported debt on a consumer’s credit report to obtain leverage over the consumer. If Nationstar is on your credit report, they may tell you that they’ll remove the debt from your credit report if you pay it; this is commonly known as “pay for delete.” If the original creditor is on your report rather than the debt collector, and you pay off the debt, both entities should accurately report this on your credit report.

Several states also have laws to provide their citizens with an additional layer of protection. For example, if you live in California, Florida, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, or Wisconsin, you may be able to add a state-law claim to your federal law claim above. North Carolina, for example, has one of the most consumer-friendly statutes in the country: if you live in NC and are harassed over a debt, you may receive $500 – $4,000 in damages per violation. We work with a local counsel in NC and our NC clients have received some great results in debt collection harassment cases. If you live in North Carolina and are being harassed by a debt collector, you have the leverage to obtain a great settlement.

How do we Use the Law to Help You?

We will use state and federal laws to immediately stop Nationstar’s debt collection. We will send a cease-and-desist letter to stop the harassment today, and if Nationstar violates the FDCPA, EFTA, FCRA, or any state law, you may be entitled to money damages. For example, under the FDCPA, you may receive up to $1,000 in damages plus actual damages. The FDCPA also has a fee-shift provision, which means the debt collector will pay your attorneys’ fees and costs. If you have a TCPA case against the agency, we will handle it based on a contingency fee and you won’t pay us a dime unless you win.

THAT’S NOT ALL…

We have helped thousands of consumers stop phone calls.  We know how to stop the harassment and get you money damages. Once again: you will not pay us a dime for our services. We will help you based on a fee-shift provision and/or contingency fee, and the debt collector will pay your attorneys’ fees and costs.

What if Nationstar is on My Credit Report?

Based on our experience, some debt collectors may credit-report, which means one may mark your credit report with the debt they are trying to collect. In addition to or instead of the debt collector, the original creditor may also be on your credit report in a separate entry, and it’s important to properly identify these entities because you will want both to update your credit report if or when you pay off the debt.

THE GOOD NEWS IS…

If Nationstar is on your credit report, we can help you dispute it. Mistakes on your credit report can be very costly: along with causing you to pay higher interest rates, you may be denied credit, insurance, a rental home, a loan, or even a job because of these mistakes. Some mistakes may include someone else’s information on your credit report, inaccurate public records, stale collection accounts, or even being a victim of identity theft. If you have a mistake on your credit report, there is a process to dispute it, and my office will help you obtain your credit report and dispute any inaccurate information.

REMEMBER…

If a credit reporting agency violates its obligations under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you may be entitled to statutory damages up to $1,000, and the credit reporting agency will be required to fix the error. The FCRA also has a fee-shift provision, which means the credit reporting agency will pay your attorneys’ fees and costs. You won’t owe us a dime for our services. We have helped hundreds of consumers fix inaccurate information on their credit reports, and we’re ready to help you, too.

Complaints against Nationstar

If you’re on this page, chances are you are just like the hundreds of consumers out there being harassed by Nationstar. Here are some of the BBB reviews and complaints against Nationstar:

  1. “White-collar thieves…so be warned… don’t use this company, they are shady to deal with. They will add on mysterious loan servicing fees, which they refuse to give detailed information on. These outrageous fees added up to $6000+ and appeared in my bill in January 2018. I still haven’t found a competent, manager or service rep that can assist me or get back to me with the right information. Every emailed report that you ask for has a FEE of $25. They have the worst customer service.”

  2. “BEWARE** This is the worst company. I have never been so dissatisfied with a company. My loan was sold to them. My loan has been on semi-monthly auto-draft since the inception of the loan in 2013. Mr. Cooper does not offer auto-draft (how is this possible), I tried for 3 months making multiple phone calls for weeks trying to get it on auto-draft. They finally told me I had to go through a 3rd party vendor, and they charged me $495 to set up a loan on auto-draft. I sold my home called to get the payoff balance, they wouldn’t give it to me, said it would cost $25 to get it. Their customer service is the absolute worst. Stay away!!!”

  3. “Don’t use this company (Mr. Cooper). This company is awful to deal with. Bank of America sold my loan to Mr.Cooper/Nationstar. They have the worst customer service. You get a different story each time you call. Reps have no clue what they are talking about and will give you the runaround. I am so happy to be done with my loan and I will make sure to never use this company again. I will also make sure others know just how awful and shady this company is. They should have an F rating just by looking at some of these reviews and complaints. Mr. Cooper is a JOKE!”

Can Nationstar Sue Me?

Yes, Nationstar can sue you. Nationstar can hire a lawyer to file a breach of contract lawsuit against you for the underlying debt, fees, and costs. If you’ve been sued by Nationstar, do not ignore the lawsuit; you may have defenses. If you ignore the lawsuit, the default will be entered and the agency may seek to garnish your wages. If you receive notice of a lawsuit, contact an experienced attorney as soon as possible, even if you intend to represent yourself pro se. If Nationstar has threatened to sue you, contact Mike Agruss Law as soon as possible; we’re here to help.

Can Nationstar Garnish My Wages?

Yes, if Nationstar has a judgment entered against you. If Nationstar is currently garnishing your wages or threatening to do so, contact our office as soon as possible.

Nationstar Settlement

If you want to settle a debt with Nationstar, ask yourself these questions first:

  1. Do I really owe this debt?
  2. Is this debt within the statute of limitations?
  3. Is this debt on my credit report?
  4. If I pay this debt, will Nationstar remove it from my credit report?
  5. If I pay this debt, will the third-party debt collector remove it from my credit report?
  6. If I pay this debt, will I receive written confirmation from Nationstar confirming the payment and settlement terms?

These are not the only things to consider when dealing with debt collectors. We are here to help you answer the questions above, and much more. Whether it’s harassment, settlement, pay-for-delete, or any other legal issue with Nationstar, we at Mike Agruss Law are here to help you.

Top Debt Collection Violations

Debt collection laws provided a laundry list of what collectors can and cannot do while collecting a debt.  Based on our years of experience handling thousands of debt collection harassment cases, here’s what collection agencies most often do to violate the law.

  1. Called you about a debt you do not owe.
  2. Called you at work after you told them you cannot receive calls at work.
  3. Left you a message without identifying the company’s name.
  4. Left you a message without disclosing that the call is from a debt collector.
  5. Called third parties (family, friends, coworkers, or neighbors) even though the collection agency knows your contact information.
  6. Disclosed to a third party (family, friends, coworkers, or neighbors) that you owe a debt.
  7. Contacted you after you said stop calling.
  8. Threatened you with legal action (such as a lawsuit or wage garnishment).
  9. Called you before 8:00 AM or after 9:00 PM.
  10. Continued to call you after you have told the collector you cannot pay the debt.
  11. Communicated (phone or letter) with you after you filed for bankruptcy.
  12. Failed to mark the debt on your credit report as disputed after you disputed the debt.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I have to pay your fees and costs for helping me with my consumer rights case? No. We handle consumer rights cases based on a fee-shift provision and/or a contingency fee.  That means, either the other side pays your fees and costs, or we take a percentage of your recovery.  Whether it’s a fee-shift case or a contingency-fee case, we don’t get paid unless you get paid, and you’ll never owe us a penny for our time.

  2. What are the damages under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act? You can get $500 per robocall, or $1,500 per robocall if the robocalls were willful.  In any type of settlement, oftentimes Defendants pay much less than $500 per call. However, if there are 50 calls at issue, even at $250 per call, your case could settle for $12,500.00.

  3. Are there state laws that protect me from original creditors? Yes! Several states also have laws that provide their citizens with an additional layer of protection. For example, if you live in California, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Nevada, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin, you have additional state-law rights.

  4. What type of debt is covered under state laws that protect me from original creditors? Only consumer debt, such as personal, family, and household debts. For example, the money you owe on a personal credit card, an auto loan, a medical bill, or a utility bill.  State laws usually do not cover debts you incurred to run a business, or debts regarding unpaid taxes, or traffic tickets.

  5. Does the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act apply to banks or credit card companies? No. Only third-party debt collectors are bound by the FDCPA.  That is, original creditors, such as credit card companies and banks are not bound by the FDCPA.

  6. Are mistakes on credit reports common? Yes!  Are you one of the 40 million Americans that have a mistake on their credit report?  Mistakes on your credit report can be very costly. Along with causing you to pay higher interest rates, you may be denied credit, insurance, a rental home, a loan, or even a job because of these mistakes. Some mistakes may include someone else’s information on your credit report, inaccurate public records, stale collection accounts, or maybe you were a victim of identity theft.

  7. What do I do if I have a mistake on my credit report? If you have a mistake on your credit report, there is a process to dispute them.  My office will help you pull your credit report and dispute any inaccurate information. If a credit reporting agency violates its obligations under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), you may be entitled to statutory damages up to $1,000.00, plus the credit reporting agency will be required to fix the error. The FCRA also has a fee-shift provision. This means the credit reporting agency pays your attorney’s fees and costs. Therefore, you will not pay me a penny for my time. To speed up the process, please get a free copy of your credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com. You can also learn more about the FCRA and your rights at http://www.agrussconsumerlaw.com/practices/common-credit-report-errors/.

Nationstar has called, emailed, and mailed for months about refinancing mortgage. Today they called and left a message ( I have recording saved) saying they were the IRS and I had to call today or a lawsuit would be filed against me. They called several more times times and hung up on message. I called nationstar customer service and they wouldn't give me any answer why I'm being called repeatedly or why they are misrepresenting themselves. They only would say that they would add me to do not call list on refinances. What legal action can be taken against this co? My mortgage was sold to them right after we bought our house in Aug 2014. I feel very uncomfortable and distressed to be stuck with this mortgage co that lies about who they are and the purpose for contact.

I have been getting robo calls for over 3 months and I called nationstar over six times to complain. I am within my grace period and have never missed a payment. I am getting up to 4-6 calls a day. They finally stopped the robots now I am getting reps calling me as a "courtesy" like I don't know what day of the month it is. I always pay by the grace period. I have two personal phone lines and one phone associated to work and they are calling all three phone lines at least 3 days a week multiple times a day. I am being harrassed and it is interfering with work.

my loan originated with countrywide and then to bank of America, then nationstar. I tried to get a loan modification, which they had me resubmit ten times, claiming lost or insufficient documents. after ten months they sent me a letter of denial stating the owner did not participate in doing loan modification and "we have to abide by their wishes" I wrote to the owner, bank of new York, mellon and asked them, "why not"? to which they replied, in writing that "we do not own your loan and are trustee of a pass through certificate holder of a CWMBS and as such, had no right to modify or dispose of my loan" So nationstar outright lied, dragged me along for ten months for a modification they never intended to give me!!!! they are collecting on unowned, unsecured debt, committing RICO violations, mail and wire fraud and a host of other violations for which I intend to sue them. as if that were not bad enough they recently sold my loan to US bank and completely removed any sign of bank of new York mellon in the county recorders office, even back dating assignments, what they do not realize is that I have certified copies from the county recorders office with bank of new York mellons assignment. which no longer exists in the county recorders office. I would like to know how they were able to change documents in a county office, anyone care to enlighten me or tell me more about your experiences with these thieves???

In 2015 our mortgage was transferred from Cenlar Mortgage to Nationstar Mortgage. At that time our payment was paid 2 months in advance. The discrepancy came to our attention when we received the first statement from Nationstar which showed our account to be in arrears for the current month's payment. After numerous telephone calls (every month upon receipt of the late notice) and a full accounting sent to Nationstar to include the final statement from Cenlar, confirmation from the credit union of all the payments sent to Nationstar, our payment history printout from Nationstar and now a letter stating we owe $83.00 in late fees. Nationstar says "don't worry about it, we do not report to the credit bureau"....true that is a concern since we have FICO scores in the upper 700's low 800's. But of most concern is them next trying throw us into foreclosure. At our age we should not have to stress over anything that is not a problem except we cannot get the lender to fix it. After having read this, please let us know you can help us.

I'm bidding on a house at auction. I thought it was clear and I would not be assuming anyone's liens but now I'm seeing Nationstar Mortgage LLC associated with past loans to the property and some of the information I've seen on the web greatly concern me. Under the Judgment and Lien section of the foreclosure report is states: Foreclosure Judgment, filed on 09/17/2015 in Case No. 09C15022669 and in the Amount of $25,000.00. So I thought I was good. There are 2 security instruments - 1 - $20k; 2-132k. I thought the foreclosure judgment meant it was clear. Have I just ruined my life?

Hi Gary, I'm helped out others in your shoes with disputes against Nationstar over nominal fees. It's crazy to me to think how often Nationstar drives its customers nuts over petty late fees that are often inaccurate. We can help you like we've helped our other clients against Nationstar. Is Nationstar calling you, too? Either way, we'll help you fix this late fee, and stop the calls, if Nationstar is calling you. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Heidi, Thanks for sharing your experience with robocalls and Nationstar. You have rights under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act ("TCPA"). Even if you owe the debt, once you tell Nationtsar to stop calling, Nationstar cannot place robocalls to your cell phone anymore. We will help you stop the calls, and get you money damages if Nationstar violated the TCPA. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Dianna, You can sue Nationstar for violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act ("TCPA"). Under the TCPA, even Nationstar has your permission to call your cell phone, once you say stop calling, Nationstar MUST stop placing robocalls to you. The TCPA allows for $500 in damages PER CALL. I will discuss your rights with you further on the phone. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Eloy, Have you told Nationstar to stop calling? If not, we can send them a cease and desist letter. Once Nationstar gets out letter, the calls will stop. If the calls do not stop, the we can go over Nationstar for violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act ("TCPA"). The TCPA protects consumers from robocalls against companies like Nationstar. I'll call you to discuss your rights with you on the phone. Thanks, Mike.

Hi i went into pre forclousure about 5yrs ago. But before that i was trying to pay and catch up on payments. So i would mail in the amount they wanted and since it was already in the prosess which i wasn't aware they would mail me back my check and send greater amount with an additional late fee. Finally i paid the full amout which included my mortgage late payments attorneys fees and late fees which amounted to 9,500.to stop the forclosure process. Than after this horable experience for months Nation star added more attorneys fees of over 2,000 dollars stating i had to pay. I went back and forth for months with them on the phone stating my case that i paid in full what i needed to pay to reinstate my mortgage. They wouldn't budge. Finally i just got so done with it i just paid the extra attorney fees. Than over the last couple years i would get phone calls from Nation star somtimes 3 times a day with a stupid half recording to call them back! Then just this past year january 2016 my statement never came in the mail. I called them and they stated oh you can may online an oh now you have a late fee of 29.00. I said i want a mailed statement like for the last 9yrs every month. They said ok but you need to pay the late fee in your next payment. Febuary came and no statement called again, March came and no statment called, April came around and again no statement had to call them again. Finally May statement did come in the mail. I have had it with them and want them to pay me for all this harassment phone calls pre forclosure which i tried and did what they told me lump sum of 9,500. And trying there best to make me go paperless and pay online. Thank you!

Hi Janis, Nationstar should not have been contacting you during your bankruptcy. Nationstar should have communicated directly with your lawyer. Now that your bankruptcy has been discharged, is Nationstar calling you on your cell phone? If so, I'll help you stop the calls. You also may have a case under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Jill, 3 calls a day for a couple years sure sounds annoying to me. Did you ever tell Nationstar to stop calling? If so, Nationstar could be on the hook for $500 in damages per call to you for the robocalls it made to your cell phone after you said stop calling. I've helped dozens of people stop the calls from mortgage servicers. I know exactly how annoying they can be. I'll help you stop the calls and get back on track with Nationstar. Thanks, Mike.

i filed chapter 11 bankruptcy on June 4, 2012 and just received my discharge about one month ago. I am trying to pay off a mortgage owned Nationstar Mortgage that was originated and Bank of America. Principal Balance is about $35,700 and I made payments of $602.01 monthly including about $250 a month in escrow and actually paid ahead a couple of months since December 1, 2012 as directed b y the cramdown order. I can provide proof of all paid checks. The last payment I made was $611.50 due to increased escrow. I am overpaying escrow by about $80 a month. I applied for a payoff statement and just got it today. It says i owe them over $64,000 including $12,500 in accumulated interest, $6400 in fees, $7500 in escrow they advanced for me $1,500 in legal fees, etc. It knocked me off my feet. I called Nationstar today and after spending 20 minutes on the phone with a rep she told me she could not help me and I had to speak to the bankruptcy department which was not open due to it being Saturday. The bankruptcy department never answers the phone so I am at a dead stop. They are committing outragious fraud. How much in damages can I sue for? I am dead serious. They are trying to strong arm me because they think they can get away with it. How would you handle a law suit and what damages can I seek.

I am a month behind with my mortgage. We have called them sometimes July 2016 and they made arrangements with us that we can spread out 4 months of $300.00 each month to pay my one month behind payment. They call me at least 2-3 times a day to still ask for my one month behind mortgage payment. However they already received August and September $300.00 each plus my monthly mortgage payment. They harassed me over the phone and called and sent me letters and emails.

They told me that they had the right to call and that it was automatic dialed calls and nothing they could to stop the auto dialer This was a monthly problem and repeatedly told by me to stop calling my cell phone unless they were going to pay my bill. On average of 2 to 3 calls a day. That would last about 10 days.

In 2014 NATIONSTAR MORTGAGE credited another customer account with my payment in January. I have received numerous foreclosure letters from them saying we were months behind. I reached out to our bank and forwarded them 6 checks they stamped endorsed. Because of his issue for six months I have emailed them numerous times to repair my credit for the that time frame. Still not repaired. Every time I call I reach a person from another country and Everytime I get a different story. Tired of calls everyday when I am days behind and trying to make ends meet.

My house was sold at auction in Jan 2013 for unpaid hOA dues i was also behind on my mortgage. In december 2012.when nationstar contacted me about the matter. I informed them about the proposed sale and they told me that they would refinance my loan, pay off the lean amount and tack it on to my mortgage. I sent them the information they requested concerning the foreclosure. I was never able to talk with the lawyer who was handling the foreclosure to let them know about this arrangement, although i called him numerous times and left messages but he never returned my calls. After the home was auctioned nationstar contacted me again and I told them that the house was sold and it was no longer mine. they said they had no information on the house being sold so I gave them the information for the people who bought the house. this was in february 2013. I didn't hear from them for a couple of months so I thought they had handled things. about six months later nationstar sent me an email concerning refinancing to catch up on late payments.. I responded to them reminding them of what had transpired, During 2014-2016 they have sent me paperwork numerous times about refinancing and i've responded that I was no longer in the house. In the meantime I have been recorded as having over three years of late payments on my credit report. Why have the not foreclosed on this property in all this time? My credit is rated as very poor because of these reports.

Loan in default paid off. Nationstar's attorney gave us a pay off amount. It was paid in full. May 2015 Jan 2016 I received, without warning, a 1099, saying they wrote off an amount (about $3,200). they also filed a credit report saying debt no paid in full. I wrote to Nationstar, they said they would answer but did not. I complaint to Equifax who just answered with some meaningless text. Bank of america sent me to these people and refuse to accept any responsibility for doing so. DOCS available - letter form attorney with pay off amount - HUD statement with same amount re-paid (about $386,000) I think; Nationstar should remove the negative report that they maliciously, or carelessly created, and re-reimburse me for my cost of pursuing them to do so. What do you say?

12/2015 Nationstar bought our mortgage, my husband and I have both been on the mortgage since we purchased our home in 1999. Every since Nationstar bought our mortgage they have not included me in their reporting to the credit bureau. When I called to inquire why they were only reporting to the credit bureau on my husband. I was told that a request for investigation had to be completed and they would give me an answer with 1 wk. After not hearing from them I called to request the results of the investigation. I was told that due to my having a Bankruptcy in 2011, they would not report any credit information on me to the Credit Bureau. I requested that the Credit Bureau be informed that I am a CoSign on the Mortgage and that they include me in their report. I was told that there would be no reporting to the Credit Bureau on my status as a CoSign on the Mortgage. I had attempted to have our home refinanced by another company in my name only because of my husband's low credit score. I have not been able to accomplish the refinancing due to Northstar not reporting my status on the present mortgage to the Credit Bureau.

Also Have Continuously Registered Mail Daily. All Statements List A Different Amount Due. A Foreclosure Was Issued Back In October 2015 In Which I Sent The Amount Due Of $5,852.33 Which Should Have Made The Account Amount Due $0.00 And Current. The Address Nation Star Provided To Overnight Money Order Was An Old Address For Their Business. The Money Order Was There Two Days And The Address Was An P.O. Box Which Priority Mail Cannot Be Sent Due To Signature Required. My Home Was Being Auctioned Out The Very Next Morning At 8:00 AM. Once My Family And I Got That Situation Taken Care Of Each Statement Sent Every Month After That Was Stating My Account Was Still Delinquent. And Has Continued To Be Delinquent. Hi Sheila, This sounds like a mess. I'm not sure why these mortgage servicing companies do not work with theirs. Are these late payments on your credit report? If so, and they are not your fault, I can help you dispute them. I'll call you to get more details on the phone. Hopefully, I can help you with this situation. Thanks, Mike.

During the housing crash, the mortgage company I had back then went under. I believe HUD managed it for a while until Nationstar came on board. It has been hell from day one with them. I told them their due date of the first of the month presented hardship for me in that my social security check does not arrive until the 11,12, or 13 of the month. I asked them to adjust my due date and they have not done it. They claim I owe over $2000, most likely in late fees. I am constantly harrassed from callers, buried in mail; they even told my house insurance company that my house is vacant! I've been living here since September! They purchased a policy for me and spent $1,120 (approx) when my annual premium is typically $650 on average. And they are holding over $20k in escrow from house insurance claims for damage done by a previous tenant. They have been IMPOSSIBLE to work with: no one knows what they're talking about; lying; taking weeks to "upload" documents; changing requirements for contractor reporting and never submitting what requirements they are changing in writing. Or they are missing the one piece of information, previously sent to them, which is holding back payment. I'm 66 years of age and I have never felt so down and aggravated than by this company. I'd like to talk to an attorney to see what can be done. They should not be in business. Thank you.

Nationstar Mortgage does fraudulent practices in giving modifications. They padd income to make the mortgage amount higher and that makes the payment higher, they add fees in the thousands to the modification, they do not deduct principal on some of the statements. All this is illegal

Is this the firm with the class action against Nationstar? I am about to have my house auctioned. It is a long story, but in a nutshell they dragged out my modification program over years and years until they ate up all my equity. Been here 38 years and had a $250,000 loan with as much equity. Now I have nothing. I was hoping to get a reverse mortgage for my retirement years as I have nothing else, but the house. I could send you the details. Looking for someone who will take a class action suit as there are so many in a similar situation to me!

My name is Georjeanne. My mortgage, admisitered by Nationstar/Mr Cooper, had a balloon payment which was due in September '17. I started working with them in June '17 because I did not have the amount for the balloon. Since then, I have been given false information, changing information, vague instructions which have now led to the threat of foreclosure. I am working with HomeBridge Financial servies (Davis Soleyman), as of Jan 22, 2018, to try to get the balloon refinanced so I do not lose my home of 30 years. When this process started, my credit rating was 798. Since Nationstar has been 'helping' me come to a resolution, they have reported late payments to the credit bureaus causing my credit to drop to the low 600's. The house has been in complete renovation since October 2016, and is not competed!

I am having trouble with my mortgage company saying I still owe $37,744.64 when my original contract with 1010 Tech which was Green Tree should have been paid off in December of 2017. I have the payment breakdown just because my mortgage kept changing names it don't change my payments. I also had the death benefit for if my husband passed away or I passed away that the property would be paid for it and that was in 2006. When Nationstar took it over I sent them the paper stating I had the benefit and they had never done nothing about it they said they didn't receive the paper and so I'm having problems with that also!

First, I'm helping my 48 year old younger brother on his house. We did everything asked by Mr Cooper before deadline, took our money then forclosed and then sent our money back a week later all done both ways by bank wire. Is it legal? Is there help or am I wasting your time? Sorry, we have a mentally challenged adult child in this house also our younger brother!

My loan was sold to Nationstar dba Mr. Cooper. I need to sue them and PNC. PNC cashed my checks month 3 and 4 after the sale and I didn't know anything was wrong. When I found out Nationstar was my new servicer, and PNC had not sent them those payments to them but cashed them, floated the money they had no right to, and then sent checks back to me, I sent the checks and month 5 money to an attorney to escrow the funds. The attorney wrote Nationstar to confirm they were my new lender and included a check for the three months. Nationstar notified the credit bureaus I was 30 days late for 4 months on one bureau, 2 and 3 on another as I recall. Since then they have put on forced insurance when I already had insurance and even noticed them of it, have collected funds for two years I just found out for my own insurance (I believe) and admitted over the phone they should not have done that since the insurance company sent them a check back two years in a row. They also put bogus fees on the account for inspections, etc. My loan did not require impounds for anything, I just chose to have taxes escrowed which PNC passed on to them, but they decided all on their own they should impound my insurance. My personal condo insurance is not even required by the loan, only the HOA provided hazard insurance and flood insurance is required which I provided proof of every year. These mortgage servicers love to say they never got the evidence. I just refinanced to get rid of them, this servicer I never chose, and of course I only qualified for a hard money loan because they ruined my credit. Also Chase gave me a derogatory when I forgot to pay my HELOC because my mother died. Their answer to that? Creditors tell me by law they MUST report late payments but I have read recently the law says they MAY. Apparently, the finance industry has a bent to hurt the consumer. Here is the cherry on top. Nationstar just sent me a letter saying they were giving me an escrow account refund but deducted $560 and change for flood insurance to pay for their policy for the period their insurance was active because they didn't get proof of my HOA's insurance until last month. My understanding is the law doesn't allow them to charge for double coverage because of this very thing, I suspect, they will claim over and over they never got the proof even when we go to the MYCOVERAGE website to send the evidence. But that is only the whipped cream. The cherry is they just reported a 30 day late payment even though the July and August payments were paid when the loan was paid off on August 14th. They just had to bite me in the "arse" on the way out the door, one last time.

Nationstar calls every day starting at 8am. I have asked them repeatedly to not call me because I work at night. Correspondences by mail are fine but I have not received a statement from them in 2 months. I am 1 month behind on my mortgage which is why I don't understand the continuous calling. When you pick up, the phone call drops on the other line. This started May 31 and it is every day like we all are not going through a crisis. Or are they harassing me because I'm a black home owner. I don't know what to think. How can I sleep to go to work at midnight if the phone is ringing all day Nationstar.

When the pandemic happened my daughter miss some work so we did not pay mortgage payments for about six months then we started a modification shortly after that and to this day it’s still isn’t straightened out now they have my credit rating very poorly and my daughter and I had excellent credit because we’re both on the mortgage together I send I’ve been sending the mortgage payments but they’re asking for more money I told him I can’t afford any more money that’s why I’m going through a modification that constantly asking me for paperwork which I’ve been faxing and now emailing and constantly sending me letters and calling me and telling me they’re missing all this documentation? I have all my emails saved so they cannot tell me that because my emails are being transmitted I just have a feeling they want this house to go into foreclosure so they can win but that’s not what’s going to happen I need someone to help us straighten out the situation. Can somebody please call me and advise me what we need to do. I feel this modification is just going to drag out and we’re not going to get anywhere in the end??? Truly ,

Hi Deborah. I'm sorry that dealing with Nationstar has put you in a bad place mentally. I'd be very frustrated as well, especially if they're at fault for bad practices. I would be happy to talk this over with you to determine what options you might have in getting this resolved. 312-224-4695 Give me a call when you have a few moments to chat. Thanks, Mike

I am set up for paperless with Mr. Cooper. They increased the payment for escrow in April. I continued to make the same payment as before and I received emails stating that the payment was posted. I pulled my credit in August to find out that they are reporting my account late. I have not received any notices or phone calls from them regarding the issue. I contacted them to correct the issue but they will not remove this. They are reporting me late and that is not true. They are not taking responsible steps to inform clients and are not responding to requests.

Hi Ron. Getting anything removed from a credit report can feel impossible and sometimes, it truly is. I would be happy to speak with you about your issues with Nationstar Mortgage and Mr. Cooper and we can work together to determine if you can get these reports against you taken care of. I will reach out to you or you can reach me at 888-572-0176. Thanks, Mike
