I have several messages from a Robert Collins saying he was coming to my house or place of work to serve me papers. Telling me to be home or he was coming to my work. The second time I called the number he left. It went to Regal or Berkeley regal. It was in regards to a $600 loan from Boost Financial I believe was paid off already. I let the person on the phone who sounded like the man who left the message that this debt had been paid and I know that making threats to come to my home or place of work is not legal. If I am right and this is not ok I want them to be stopped. I get tons of ro i calls that I just ignore. I would like to hold them accountable and stop the harassment. I have the voicemails that were left saved. It comes from an unknown number.

HI Kathryn. Unfortunately, it is quite common for debt collectors to go to any lengths to pursue someone who owes them, including contacting friends and family. I'm sorry that you're dealing with these calls when you're already dealing with so much health-wise. You can make the calls stop, however. Please consider calling my office at 312-224-4695 and we will discuss how to get the calls to stop and determine if you're entitled to compensation for this behavior. Thanks, Mike

Hi Dana. Under the FDCPA, debt collectors are not permitted to harass or threaten anyone. I would like to talk more about the threats you're receiving from Regal Collections. You are also correct that a debt collector must provide you with a debt validation. Please contact me at 312-224-4695 and I will also reach out to you as well. Thanks, Mike

Regal calling multiple times stating they are coming to my residence or place of employment. How can I stop them from calling
Michael Agruss

Hello Latisha. If you want to stop a debt collector from calling, you can first inform them to stop calling you. However, many debt collectors do not stop or state that they don't have to. I would recommend that you send Regal Collections a certified cease and desist letter. This informs them that they cannot call you any further (except once more to inform you that they're going to stop calling). This doesn't stop them from contacting you in other ways, though. If you have already told them to stop calling you at work and they have continued, they could be violating the law. If they continue to call you after receiving your letter, they could also be violating your rights and you could be entitled to compensation. I would like to talk with you about this and I can also help with the letter if you require assistance. Please reach out and we can chat. Thanks, Mike
