Who is Credit One Bank?

Credit One Bank specializes in credit cards and is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, after relocating in 1998. The bank serves over 7 million card members in the United States and claims to be the country’s “fastest-growing credit card issuer.” Founded in 1984 in San Rafael, California, Credit One Bank has been accredited with the Better Business Bureau since 2011, but has received over 1,100 consumer complaints via the BBB in the past three years, nearly 800 of which are for billing/collection problems.

Credit One Bank Lawsuits

If you want to know just how unhappy consumers are with Credit One Bank, take a look at the number of complaints consumers have made online. Nowadays, most original creditors, credit card companies, etc. have arbitration clauses, which means that if you have a complaint against that company, you must file your claim in arbitration. Arbitration limits discovery, is not public, has a limited appellate process, and, most importantly, is funded primarily by the banks and big businesses. While it can be difficult to get a fair chance in arbitration, the good news is we have filed hundreds of credit harassment cases in arbitration, and we know how to aggressively fight these cases against the big banks and businesses even when arbitration is necessary.

Credit One Bank Complaints

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) protects you from robocalls, which are those annoying, automated, recorded calls that computers make all day long. You can tell it’s a robocall because either no one responds on the other end of the line, or there is a delay when you pick up the phone before a live person responds. You can receive $500 per call if Credit One Bank violates the TCPA. Have you received a message from this agency that sounds pre-recorded or cut-off at the beginning or end? These are tell-tale signs that the message is pre-recorded, and if you have these messages on your cell phone, you may have a TCPA case against the agency.

The Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA) protects electronic payments that are deducted from bank accounts. If Credit One Bank took unauthorized deductions from your bank account, you may have an EFTA claim against the agency. Credit One Bank, like most collection agencies, wants to set up recurring payments from consumers; imagine how much money it can earn if hundreds, even thousands, of consumers electronically pay them $50 – $100 or more per month. If you agreed to this type of reoccurring payment, the agency must follow certain steps to comply with the EFTA. Did Credit One Bank continue to take electronic payments after you told them to stop? Did they take more money from your checking account than you agreed to?  If so, we can discuss your rights and potential case under the EFTA.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) works to ensure that no information reported to your credit report is false. In essence, it gives you the right to dispute those inaccuracies that you find on your credit report. We’ve handled many cases in which a debt collection agency reported debt on a consumer’s credit report to obtain leverage over the consumer. If Credit One Bank is on your credit report, they may tell you that they’ll remove the debt from your credit report if you pay it; this is commonly known as “pay for delete.” If the original creditor is on your report rather than the debt collector, and you pay off the debt, both entities should accurately report this on your credit report.

Several states also have laws to provide its citizens an additional layer of protection. For example, if you live in California, Florida, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, or Wisconsin, you may be able to add a state-law claim to your federal law claim above.  North Carolina, for example, has one of the most consumer-friendly statutes in the country: if you live in NC and are harassed over a debt, you may receive $500 – $4,000 in damages per violation. We work with a local counsel in NC and our NC clients have received some great results in debt collection harassment cases. If you live in North Carolina and are being harassed by a debt collector, you have leverage to obtain a great settlement.

How can we Use the Law to Help You?

We will use state and federal laws to immediately stop Credit One Bank’s debt collection. We will send a cease-and-desist letter to stop the harassment today, and if Credit One Bank violates the FDCPA, EFTA, FCRA, or any state law, you may be entitled to money damages. For example, under the FDCPA, you may receive up to $1,000 in damages plus actual damages. The FDCPA also has a fee-shift provision, which means the debt collector will pay your attorneys’ fees and costs. If you have a TCPA case against the agency, we will handle it based on a contingency fee and you won’t pay us a dime unless you win.

THAT’S NOT ALL…

We have helped hundreds of consumers stop phone calls from Credit One Bank and we know how to stop the harassment and get you money damages. Once again: you will not pay us a dime for our services. We will help you based on a fee-shift provision and/or contingency fee, and the debt collector will pay your attorneys’ fees and costs.

What if Credit One Bank is on My Credit Report?

Based on our experience, some debt collectors may credit-report, which means one may mark your credit report with the debt they are trying to collect. In addition to or instead of the debt collector, the original creditor may also be on your credit report in a separate entry, and it’s important to properly identify these entities because you will want both to update your credit report if or when you pay off the debt.

THE GOOD NEWS IS…

The good news is that if Credit One Bank is on your credit report, we can help you dispute it. Mistakes on your credit report can be very costly: along with causing you to pay higher interest rates, you may be denied credit, insurance, a rental home, a loan, or even a job because of these mistakes. Some mistakes may include someone else’s information on your credit report, inaccurate public records, stale collection accounts, or even being a victim of identity theft. If you have a mistake on your credit report, there is a process to dispute it, and my office will help you obtain your credit report and dispute any inaccurate information.

REMEMBER…

If a credit reporting agency violates its obligations under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you may be entitled to statutory damages up to $1,000, and the credit reporting agency will be required to fix the error. The FCRA also has a fee-shift provision, which means the credit reporting agency will pay your attorneys’ fees and costs. You won’t owe us a dime for our services. We have helped hundreds of consumers fix inaccurate information on their credit reports, and we’re ready to help you, too.

Complaints against Credit One Bank

If you’re on this page, chances are you are just like the hundreds of consumers out there being harassed by Credit One Bank. Here are some of the BBB reviews and complaints against Credit One Bank:

  1. “I do not have a signed contract nor any contract with Credit One Bank. I have never done business with this company. I am not liable for collection from this debt from Credit One Bank. I am not responsible for this debt with Credit One Bank. I have a letter stated from them saying I am not liable for any account or balance, yet they are reporting to the credit bureaus that I have failed to pay…”
  2. “This company assesses fraudulent charges, even though the card is not used. Did not close my account as requested. They charge fees and finances charges on fees even though the credit card is not used. I called in on 12/11/16 to close my credit card account, I was told it was closed. But until today they are still charging monthly fees, finance charges and now added late fees. I have never used this credit card in years. They are also taking automatic payments from my bank account without my permission.”
  3. “Credit One was paid in full yet they reported on my credit report as a delinquent account. In April 2016 I closed my credit card account with Credit One. I made a phone call and paid the full amount due over the phone by giving them my routing and account number. In June 2016 they reported to the credit bureaus that my account was delinquent and past due which is not true.”

Based on 180 reviews on Yelp, Credit One Bank receives only a 1.5-out-of-5 rating. Here are some of the reviews on Yelp:

  1. “Beware of this credit card. When you make a payment the bank will not credit your account for 7 days unless you pay a $9 rush fee extra…meaning if you pay 3-5 days before your due date and your bank releases payment the next day, they won’t credit your account until 7 days later often then charging you a late fee when you paid on-time or before the due date. They nickel and dime you to death. Horrible customer service. It’s nearly impossible to get anyone human…they do not even give you the option of talking to a human representative. In short…STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! Wish I had.”
  2. “I am sorry I signed up for their credit card. They do not process payments on time, deliberately I presume, so they can charge a very heavy late fee. A payment by mail does not take 7 days from a 40 miles customer to payment center. The USPS is not that incompetent. I will complain to regulators and others and make sure this Yelp is noted.”
  3. “Scammiest credit card I’ve ever had.  They’re always trying to get you to hit the wrong button on their site to buy some garbage you don’t need, extra card, credit monitoring, etc. Scheduled a payment for payday, instead they debited my checking account immediately.  This caused an NSF fee from my bank.  I called customer service, just keep pressing zero by the way, and they have the rudest most combative Indian call center employees I’ve ever talked to.  They can’t actually help you with anything and will just keep raising their voice and talk over you as they recite their script. I went back to the website and now it’s completely different and doesn’t allow you to schedule payments.  I had to wait until my payment was returned to them to pay it off again, which was on payday.  Now their site has been broken for a week.  All the fields are just lines of code. This is the absolute last resort credit card.”

I opened an account with them about 6 months ago, I ended up having fraud on all of my accounts to where I had to change my checking account and other credit cards, one day after letting them know I was called and told that I needed to pay the amount on the account. I told them I wasnt even sure about the charges so why would I pay for charges I didnt make. They continue to not work with me and they call about 5 to 10 times a day, if I dont answer they wont even leave me a message. I have picked up and after they told me who they were, I have told about 5 different people from countless phone numbers to stop calling me. To this day I am harassed every day including the weekend.

They have tried calling me from 4 different numbers. I tell them to stop calling and they just hang up on me and continue to call. It's only 12 pm here and I've already received over 6 calls from them. I have to keep my phone on silent so I don't hear it ringing every 30 minutes. This should be illegal

I am receiving numerous calls from this company. I am late on my credit card bill and they are calling me every 30 minutes to 1 hour. They do not leave a message when they call and they always call me from different numbers. The calls start at 8 a.m. and end close to 9 p.m.

Hello Sarah, I am sorry to hear of this constant harassment. They are clearly outside of their legal boundaries regardless of whether they are using an auto-dialing system and we will help determine if you have a case at your convenience. Thanks - Mike.

Mike Agruss

Hello Robert, it is possible that you have a case against them, as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) prohibits "the threat to take any action that cannot be legally be taken or that is not intended to be taken." We can certainly evaluate your claim further. Thanks, Mike.

I got a call from credit one about my payment. It's only been 3 days since past the due date and I received a harrasing phone call while I was at work. I told them I merely forgot since I move to a different state and will pay the bill. The person that called me keeps insisting to pay over the phone and I told him that I use my savings to pay my card. He wanted to access my savings account online to pay the whole balance, I told him no and I informed him I was at work, but would not get off the phone so I hanged up.

Credit One bank has been contacting me constantly with credit card offers and bullshit 'last chance to act' calls. Im absolutely sick of them and Ive asked repeatedly to be removed from their harassment but it keeps happening. I don't owe them any money because I'm not stupid enough to ever do business with them, I just want them to leave me alone.

They keep calling me even after I make the payment, they keep pushing me to pay my balance in full even after I tell them I can't or don't want to and one representative said "we won't stop until we convince you to pay it in full so good luck", they still call with a different phone number even after I told them to stop.

Hi Paul, What a pain! I've helped thousands of people just like you who've been receiving harassing phone calls. I'll stop the calls right away. Hi Ricky, The collector wanted access to your savings account?! That's crazy. I'm glad you said no. I always tell people to never pay on the phone unless you are 100% confident you know who you are giving your bank account information to. Although you owe the debt, you do not have to deal with this type of harassment by Credit One Bank. If you'd like me to, I can send Credit One Bank a cease and desist letter to get the calls to stop. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Natalie, Have you told Credit One Bank to stop calling your cell phone? If so, Credit One should not be leaving you automated voicemail messages. Once you tell Credit One Bank to stop calling your cell, they cannot place robocalls to you anymore. Let's discuss your rights and options further on the phone. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Michaela, You are correct. This type of conduct is illegal under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act ("TCPA"). Under the TCPA, once you tell a company like Credit One Bank to stop calling your cell phone, Credit One Bank must stop the robocalls immediately. I can help you stop the calls. I may also be able to help you under the TCPA. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Kyle, Based on what you described, I think you have a case under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act ("TCPA"). The TCPA prohibits robocalls to people without their consent. Even if you have Credit One Bank your cell phone when you opened an account, once you tell Credit One Bank to stop calling, they cannot place robocalls to you anymore. You may be entitled to $500 per call. I'll let you know more about the law, your rights, and what I can do for you to help stop these annoying calls. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Thomas, You are not the first person on this page who says Credit One Bank wants more money than what's owed. That's frustrating. I'm not surprised Credit One Bank is calling you 10 times a day. Based on what others have experienced, this does not surprise me. I will help you stop the calls and figure out your monthly payments. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Laura, I never understand original creditors that keep harassing clients after payment is made. Do you remember the collectors name that said, "we won’t stop until we convince you to pay it in full so good luck.” You should file a complaint with Credit One Bank, the BBB, or the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau over this collector's conduct. When Credit One Bank calls you, do they call on your cell phone? If so, and you've told them to stop, you could get $500 per phone call under the law. I'll call you to discuss your rights and options. Thanks, Mike.

I'm late paying my bill and have numerous calls a day from credit one bank. I've answered and told them I could pay on September 1st, and they still call me, at least 5 times a day, from different numbers all over the US. It's definitely beyond harasment at this point. It's extremely disrespectful, and has forced me to block calls, and not answer the phone for any number I don't recognize. I've explained my hardship to them numerous times, and they repeatedly ask if I can pay this much or that much and won't even let me get off the phone until I finally hang up on them, after very quickly repeating what I've told them throughout the call and saying thank you. I *can* pay them September 1st. And plan on it, but these calls are beyond ridiculous, and it seems like they're trying to annoy me, or trick me with all the different phone numbers they call from.

Recently I have gone through some financial hardships...needless to say I have been falling behind on some bills...but still paying them. Credit One is the worst...they call my cell phone 7 times a day while I'm at work...trying to start a new job. When I do pick up it takes a second then I get connected to someone. They never leave a message...they have even called me before the bill is due. This is all on my cell phone so I can track each call. What should I do?

I am in between employment, hoping to be working again soon. I called Credit One and told them my situation. They said they would put it in my file. The phone calls will not stop. They call Sunday mornings during church, on Holidays... And furthermore, they do not leave voicemails. I know I am in debt. I will pay once I get another job. Just want the calls to stop.

Credit One Bank has been harassing me since I got their card in 2014. They call 10+ times a day BEFORE my bill is even due. Today(Sunday) they have called me 7 times. The calls start at 8 am and don't stop until 9 pm. I am not past due. Please help.

Hi Luis, I agree with you. 15 calls a day is ludicrous. Even if you owe the debt, Credit One Bank should have stopped calling you after you said stop. If Credit One Bank placed robocalls to your cell phone after you told them to stop calling, you have a TCPA case against them. I will let you know about your rights on the phone. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Sara, I will help you stop the calls. I'm not sure why Credit One Bank harasses you 10+ times a day before your bill is due. That makes zero sense to me. We'll stop the calls for you. We'll also discuss your TCPA rights with you. Credit One Bank should not be harassing you year after year from 8am until 9pm when your bill is not even due. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Timothy, It's crazy that Credit One Bank would harass you like this after you explained your situation to them. It's not like you're working and not paying your bills. You'd think Credit One would have some sympathy, and common sense, and let you find another job, and then start paying your bill. I'll get the calls to stop for you. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Victoria, You should tell Credit One Bank to stop calling you. If the robocalls continue to your cell phone, you can go over Credit One Bank for violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. I'm helped 100s of people with TCPA cases. In fact, I just filed a TCPA case against Credit One Bank today. I'll call you to let you know about your rights and options under the law. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Jack, Do you have a balance on your card? If your card is paid off, I'm not sure why Credit One Bank would still be sending you a statement. Does Credit One call you, too? If you don't have a balance on your card, and you've cancelled it, I would send Credit One Bank a letter asking them to stop sending you statements. I can help you send the letter, too. Thanks, Mike.

CreditOne bank calls many many times a day every day of the week both before my bill is due and if I have a past due bill. I have told them we are struggling financially and asked for a delayed payment plan. I only owe them $50 past due and $296 total. I would pay the thing if I had the money to. They spend more on resources to collect the $50 than the actual bill. The constant calling feels like a form of harassment to me. They never leave a message and do not idenitfy them selves unless I identify myself first. They will hang up if I do not answer "yes" when they ask my name. Just today they have called 5 times from 610-347-8299, 580-271-9112, 312-982-0734, 312-637-1580. I would like to make a point and get them to pay for every one of these multiple call days.

Hi Paul, I'm sorry to hear you are going through this type of harassment with Credit One Bank. It makes zero sense that they call you before your bill is even due. Plus, if you've told them you're financially struggling, Credit One Bank should back off of the calls until you get back on your feet again. I can help you stop the calls today, and figure out a payment plan with Credit One Bank. We can discuss your options on the phone. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Tammy, once you tell a company to stop calling, they have to stop. Otherwise, they run the risk of violating several federal and state laws set up to protect consumers like yourself. Here, if Credit One Bank continues to blow up your cell phone after you sent them a cease and desist letter, they have violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act ("TCPA"). The TCPA restricts robocalls to cell phones. Under the TCPA, you can get $500 in damages per call. Two days ago, I sent my client a check for over $18,000.00 in a TCPA case against another credit card company. Let's discuss your rights and options on the phone. Thanks, Mike.

I initiated litigation for phone harassment against them, and now over past week they're emailing me every day about account updates even though my attorney at your firm sent them a cease and desist letter Dec. 4th. Can they do this even though they're barred from contacting me?

I have been trying for over a month to pay off my credit one credit card online. Their website will not allow me to access my account, yet they call 10-15 times a day EVERY DAY. They want me to make a payment by phone & when I explain that I do NOT feel comfortable making a payment by phone they keep talking over m & will NOT listen. They call on Sundays & Holidays and call as early as 8 am.

I've had credit one card since November and it's been turned off twice, not re-ordered when asked and then added $538 and reported to my credit reports that I owe either $486 or $838

That's the same thing they are doing to me. I owe them 90.00 which led to a figure of 328.00 in their calculations. Which conveniently goes up every month while they don't allow us to pay online.

So i take it this isn't the credit card to build my credit with?? Funny thing is, I'm never excepted for credit cards anywhere .. ever... so I'm a little reserved on activating a card with a 25% interest rate after reading all the reviews and complaints about not being able to pay online and a million phone calls to follow... I pay a lot of stuff online, sometimes on the phone but that's car ins ... but I was wondering if it was a scam to begin with. I planned on only buying stuff that i have money for, so i was wondering if I'm going to have problems paying , and not build my credit because I'll have cash on hand for all my purchases. I originally just wanted to know if i get hit with interest if i pay it before the bill comes. Every time. But with issues with paying online on their part makes me question it even more. 25% is very high rate I'm not turning a $300 limit into a $2000 bill when i have the money on hand...

I tried to sign into my account and saw a notice that access to my account was suspended, I called and after talking with a lot of people from India? I was asked if I authorized a payment of $429 to my account I told them I did not so they turned me over to payment investigations? and they said they would send me a new card which if I accept will probably incur new fees. I think it is a way of scamming me into paying more fees. When they start billing me for the balance on the original card I will pay them the smallest amount possible per month. They can't say I'm not paying.

I am receiving calls from several numbers, atleast 5 times a day. I applied for the card less than a year ago. I entered my debit card information online, so that it would be automatic pay. The 1st month and each month following, I would receive a phone call from Credit One, stating that my payment was late. I ask why are you calling me, my payment info was entered in your system. I am informed that, they don't have the ability to do automatic pay. Mind you, each month the would try to tack on a late fee. Then they cancelled my card, I cant even access the account to make a payment. A bunch of bs, Help!

I have had a Credit One Bank card for a few years and have had numerous problems with their website being down which then prevented me from making my payments on time several months. It is difficult to reach a customer service agent and they do not have an email to send anything to for faster responses. They have robo-calls harassing me nonstop from documented at least 11 different phone numbers. They claim when I make a payment that if I dont pay the $9.95 express pay fee that my payment won't actually post for 7-10bus days which then has put me up for years of late fees because it almost always would post late. Just is another deliberate attempt to force someone to pay extra $10 everytime you want your payment to go through when you make the payment or you are doomed with their late fees that have varied between $25-$35 on top of their "annual fee" of $8.25 even though its not "ANNUAL". They keep charging that $8.25 fee every single month! My card is now over the limit with so many fees and I can't close the card out or reach anyone when I try calling!

I received a credit card on February 20,2018 they promised me $300. When I activated it it said $300 but once I purchased something for under $100 I had less then $200 left on my card. I called them (CREDIT ONE) and asked them where was the rest of my money they said they took out $75 which would have left me $225 but it didn't. By the time I purchased 2 things I had less then $100 left on my card. They have been calling like crazy several times a day. I'm only 7 days passed my card's due date and now they are saying I owe them more then what I spent! Which is $330.66 and I never got the full amount of $300 or $225!! I have told them to stop calling as of 3-28-18 Wednesday they said they would stop and that they apologized!

I just recently opened a credit card with Credit One. I am late with my payment and have talked to someone from credit one explaining I’m unable to make a payment until next week. Needless to say the continue to call me AT LEAST 10 times a day From all different numbers. When I received the card I had an initial $400 limit. After my first purchase using the card (under $20) my account tells me I have $200 of credit. They took a $75 fee but it didn’t add up at all!

I spoke earlier with the online chat. Ashley. I wanted to add that I did not link this credit card to any bank account so they have no way to take money that way nor do they know my place of employment to my knowledge. My credit one balance is around $616. I intend to pay it off but I want the card cancelled so once I start paying down and money is available that I won't use it. I may be making a payment soon. I am a little worried that they could pull funds from my account but I have seen no suspicious withdrawals yet. Credit One has called me too much-over 15 times in one week!

I believe this is a misleading and fraudulent charge in my acct. I talked to call center the reason why they charge $8.25 credit report agency which is not disclose to my Monthly statement.

I want my case looked into because I can never make a payment because the website is always closed. I don't feel comfortable with the person I talk to on the phone. They never can answer your questions. When you ask to speak to someone else, they act as if they are the only person you can talk too. looking at this situation I would like my fines to be dropped due to the fact costomer service skills were poor which cost me a lowered credit score. I also feel that the credit score process is not being properly tracked correctly for the minority consumers. Thanks for looking at my case!

This company harasses it’s customers with rude phone calls if you fall behind on just one debit payment. They called me 16 times in 2 hours and left no voice mail. They also will call from different numbers if you block the original one they called from. All this is after speaking to them and informing them of your situation. They will not input the information you tell them or guarantees they made and everyone there has no idea what was said to the previous employee. Each representative I’ve spoken with, even so called supervisors, tell me something different, and make will statements the other supervisors will contradict, claim I misunderstood, or state they are not allowed to do what other supervisors have said. They refuse to pull up previous phone calls which they state are recorded for quality assurance if you request them to or try to file a complaint against an employee due to repeated misinformation. After being called repeatedly everyday Ive been hung up on, and even put on hold and forgotten about, or waited for 10 to 20 min to be transferred. Absolutely horrible company I cannot wait until next month when I can pay off the $380 dollars I owe them. In one year I’ve fallen behind on just one payment due to hospitalization and do not deserve to be treated this way.

I applied for a Credit one bank card w/o/ reading the fine print. I received the card in the mail within a few days, with a 300 dollar spending limit. I decided then, that I really don't need the card, cut it up and did not activate it. Within in a few days I got a letter saying that, upon their review, my card had not been activated. The NEXT day, I received a bill for 75 dollars with a due date. The part in the fine print that I did not read, was that it would cost me 75 dollars to open the account! My credit is not bad and I am not that dumb. Apparently there are many people who are. Thank you for listening!

Good Afternoon, Recently Credit one bank closed my account with no notice. The account was in good standing and had a balance. When I called to find out why they told me they have to verify my last transaction and demanded my routing number and checking account number to my bank. I see no reason to do so and feel like I'm being scammed. How can they close my account WITH a balance and why on earth should I have to give them my checking account over the phone they should already have it I never missed a payment!

I obtained a credit card from Credit One Bank mid-September 2018. I paid a $75 annual fee to use the card. During this time, my credit union (Bullseye in Wiscsonsin) merged with the Connexus credit union. They are saying that my payments were declined 3 times and have subsequently dissolved my account. Yet, my payments must have gone through because I've maintained an interest free balance every month because I pay off my balance. In fact, they owe me an additional $.87 in cash back fees. I'm okay with not having this card and account, but I want at least a portion of my $75 annual fee refunded as well as my cash back fee!

I had previously received a card from credit one and I cancelled the card and noticed that my credit score dropped like 40+points how does this happen? just for cancelling a card. I then ordered another with a $75. fee so I decided to keep this one because the limit was higher. I paid the $75. before the due date, and then made a purchase and again they dropped my credit score. So now I paid the whole balance off and my score remains the same because they did'nt report it to the credit bureaus so my issue is why can't they report good standing to better my score?

This will be my second complaint as I lost the information to the last woman that handled my last case. Credit one keeps harassing me and I had to block their toll free number because they’d call me 3 times in the morning and now there’s a number that’s coming from my city calling me to be making minimum payments telling me I can ask my mom to help, or giving them my banking and routing numbers and they keep pushing it. I just had surgery and money is very tight right now as I just started working TWO days ago, but I will be paying off that card and will never be a member with them again after that. Please help. I made a card payment to my Credit One Bank account on December 19, 2018, however, Credit One Bank schemed to defraud me with LVNV as the co-conspirator by alleging I defaulted on the account on January 18, 2019 which was less than a month later. Credit One Bank retaliated against me when I filed a complaint against them with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for Fraud in the Factum, Negligence, Defamation/Libel, and Fraudulent charges on my card account. Credit One Bank retaliated against me by accelerating the closing of the account creating an indebtedness in violation of Regulation Z 1026.13(d)(3). Credit One Bank gave the account to LVNV who is an affiliated of Credit One Bank under common beneficial ownership by the Sherman Financial Group LLC. Consequently, LVNV and Credit One Bank defrauded me by reporting damaging information to the credit reporting agencies, defamation/libel, common law fraud, violations of the FDCPA and the Florida Consumer Collection Protection Act, as well as, other violations such as negligence, etc. I have a major case here in Florida and I wish I could get legal representation. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Delemas C. Warren, M.Ed.

In December 2019, the hardest of times befell me and I didn't have enough money to pay even the minimum balance of $30 towards my Credit One credit card. They began calling in January, before the month was out, I asked them very kindly and specifically to stop calling because I didn't know when I would be able to make the payment. To this day, they have not stopped calling. 3-13 times per business day, from January first to the present day. I have saved my call logs and highlighted every instance they've called.

I had a cc with Credit One. I fell on some really hard times but still wanted to make payment arrangements. At this point due to fee card went over credit limit now being charge crazy fees and nothing I was paying was helping. I call numerous times to try and make arrangements and was denied. Told just pay it plus there was a huge language barrier with customer service. When I would ask if there was anyone available that could communicate with me clearer in my language, they explained that they were a call center from the Philippines and that was the best I was going to get. It was so hard to get customer service and information I could understand. Now years later they sold it to LVNV funding and just put in a law suit against me in my current city. What can I do?

I sent a general letter, they closed the account and Zi continued to pay. Went to pay this month and found my account is showing as Charged off, bad debt, sever delinquency. I found this out from my credit report! I have not been late on 1 payment! I cannot pay now or access any if my statements online, which do prove all paid in time. I have pulls on my credit report that shows all payments made on time, then suddenly, from Aug forward they all say delinquent! I never received any letter of closure, just a letter from Resurgent Collections. How can this happen? Can you help? I can prove all of this, which will take a bit if time, but this is ridiculous! My credit score dropped 129 pots and I was denied a ccfrom Target because of it. I was at 700-749 score prior. :/Now it’s down to 579. This isn’t right. Thanks for any help. Emmy aka Mary

Hi Cherri. Credit One Bank is definitely notorious for doing everything in their power to collect on debts. What types of third parties are sending mail to your home? Typically under the law, if you have a contract with one company, that contract states what you agree to, which may include those types of mailings. We can talk more about that in a no obligation consultation when I give you a call. Thanks, Mike.

I have 3 active credit cards to my name, two from Capital One both with 100% payment history and a Credit One card which has been a nightmare. When I received the first months statement, and with it being a different due date than my other two cards, I missed the payment by one day. That day, I promptly called them up, explained the mishap. Mind you this was about 8 hours past the due date. They were unwilling to budge or make a one-time exception for a new customer even after telling them I have a 100% on time history with both my Capital One cards. They didn't want to hear this and tacked on about $100 in fees. Told them I would like to close the account, which they still have not done. With Covid, payments have been tough but I'm still trying to make the minimum monthly. With all the fees they have tacked on, I'm now over the limit, adding in more fees and I am no longer able to keep my head above water, which I feel is exactly what they want. Well now, they call my phone from 8am-9pm every 20 minutes! They spoof their numbers but it's coming from the same bank of telephone numbers and this is the only debt I am behind on so I know its them calling incessantly. I picked up the phone last month when they did this, told them I'd pay the account when I had the funds but to stop calling as it is affecting my work. The calls stopped for about 2 weeks. I brought the account current. Fell behind this month and again, every 20 minutes, they will call my phone, 7 days a week. I have a clear call history on my cell phone showing as such. As a previous commenter stated, my credit score too was about 700 and now is in the low 5's because of this company. I wish there was a way to show them that calling every 20 minutes can actually do them more harm than good. If they were in jeopardy of losing the ability to collect the debt due to excessive calls and harassment, perhaps the 20-30 calls per day would stop. What they're doing is absurd. Thanks is advance, Tom

"I got a letter from this company this summer, i ignored it after i opened because it had say i was pre-qualified for their card. I never signed up and threw it in the trash. A second mail came and it was a statement saying i owed 75 in annual fees for a card i never got or used. I would have paid off the debt but then i thought that made no sense and i didn't want to give them any of my info or money. So, going on a gut feeling, i decided to do some research on this company and i saw that a lot of people had issues with them and decided to share my story.

Hello I did have a credit card with credit one bank and they most definitely are in violation of the (FDCPA) and/ or (TCPA). I have saved on my phone proof of them calling a ridiculous amount of times. Sometimes before 8. Am and after 9. P.m which is violating I know. Also, I have blocked them over and over and over and they continue to call and hurrass me with new numbers everyday. They have called me 67 times in one single day. And I have screenshots of all their calls and different numbers. Can someone please help me handle this. Thank you in advance! Sincerely, Kelcy O.

Credit one made me a one time deal to be able to close my account which was the amount of $343 which I took, the representative told me the date which the payments where going to come out the first 2 payments came out but the last payment of $93 never did, now I receive 15+ calls a day. I talked to another representative and told him about the issue but he preceded to tell me that there’s not a way that they can take the payments automatically that I had to call or log in to make the payment (I never called or logged in for the first 2 payments) the first guy told me the dates they were supposed to take out the payments and because they fail to take it out now I have to pay the whole balance. I kept telling him that was not my fault but they don’t care.

I opened a credit card back in 2016 from Credit One. I tried to make a payment online and by phone and couldn’t and was transferred to multiple people. I ended up never paying on my account. It was then sent to a collections agency and they are suing me. They obtained the account 7/20/2017 and sued me 7/20/2021, but was signed by the Clerk of the Court 7/21/2021. I opened the credit card California where I have lived all my life, but last year I moved to Idaho. The SOL in California is 4 years while in Idaho it is 5 years. My last purchase or payment would have been made on July or August of 2016. I don’t have my paperwork anymore, but currently they state in their contacts “Governing Law: This Agreement is governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws applicable to national banks, and, where no such laws apply, by the laws of the State of Nevada, excluding the conflicts of law provisions thereof, regardless of your state of residence.” Nevada also has a SOL of 4 years. Do I have legal grounds to file a statue of limitations?
Michael Agruss
Hi Kaila. While the statute of limitations prevents a lawsuit/judgment against a consumer, it does not mean that the debt goes away and isn't required to be paid. Debt collectors can pursue a debt for as long as they wish and the debt is often sold many times over, meaning that new debt collectors/debt collection agencies can continue to pursue you. If you'd like to discuss the law and your options, give me a call at my office and we can chat. Thanks, Mike

Credit One has called me non-stop Monday-Friday, with some days calling back to back. If I do not answer on any given day I can have 10 missed calls easily. Hi Candice. It is common for debt collectors to use many different phone numbers to get you to try and answer their calls. Sometimes these numbers even look like they're local. Blocking doesn't always work as they have so many numbers at their disposal. Fortunately, the law protects consumers from harassment from debt collectors and you have options in getting these calls to stop, especially if they are calling you at work and you're not permitted to get calls there. I am going to give you a call to discuss this in more detail. Thanks, Mike

Hi Ceilia. You are correct that Credit One Bank has hundreds of different phone numbers and they will often use numbers with an area code local to you as a way to get you to answer the calls. While the BBB does its best to assist consumers, it doesn't always get the solution that you are hoping for. Also, it isn't illegal for a debt collector to call you seven days a week, there are no rules against calling on a weekend. The law does state that debt collectors must abide by the calling time frame of 8am-9pm. It is also important to know that when Credit One Bank is the original creditor, they don't have to follow all the rules of the FDCPA. However, we can talk about this in a free, no-obligation consultation--give me a call at 888 572 0176. Thanks, Mike

I receive harnessing phone calls from Credit One Bank, I have informed them twice not to contact me via phone. they continue to call from different numbers. They call my phone an average of 8 times a day from different numbers. they have even contacted me by cloning my own phone #, When I asked them how they were calling me from my own number they disconnected the call. I receive calls from them Monday - Monday even on Sundays as early as 7:45 am. I know they have violated several different laws as I was a debt collector for over 15 years.

I have a debt with credit one bank. I have not been able to make a payment but I get over 10 calls a day from different phone numbers. I constantly block the phone numbers. I even get private calls from them. They try to force me into paying something even when I am telling them I don’t have the funds. Please please please help me. It’s to much!

My husband and I are receiving calls 5 or more times daily starting at 8am and up until 9pm from various phone numbers belonging to credit one. We have over 100 different phone numbers from them saved in our phone. We have repeatedly informed them to stop harassing us to no avail. We are hoping someone might be able to assist us.

Hi Amy. The times that you're getting these debt collection calls are all within legal limits, but they cannot keep calling if you've informed them to cease and desist. If you would like help in dealing with Credit One Bank--give me a call. 888 572 0176 Thanks, Mike

I got behind on my bill because of slow down of work their fees are outrageous no matter what you pay you're always losing what you pay essentially by these extra bogus fees they call me 10 plus times a day with numbers from different states I'm getting tired of their calls and I'm ready to get a hold of the FTC or write them and tell them I will get a hold of the FTC if they don't stop I thought about changing my number but I don't want to do that.

Hi Kerri. Changing your number to avoid debt collection doesn't always protect you--debt collectors are professionals who can find you, whether it be your new number or they may even call your friends and family. While this isn't illegal (although they must follow the law on the number of calls and what they say), it can be annoying for those that know you if they are being harassed over your debt. You can contact Credit One Bank and inform them that you want them to cease and desist with the calls, which I would suggest you do with a certified letter. If you need help with this, give me a call and we can have a quick chat that is completely free and you will be under no obligation for my services. I look forward to speaking with you. 888 572 0176 Thanks, Mike

Hi Britt. Debt collectors are permitted to call you between the hours of 8am and 9pm in your time zone, but they are not permitted to harass you with calls. The law doesn't state how many calls are excessive, but if the calls are disruptive and bothersome, Credit One Bank may be violating your rights. I will give you a call to discuss this and you can send a log of the calls you're receiving to my office at [email protected]. Thanks, Mike

I get at least four calls a day from Credit One. Sure I owe them money, and I guess they think I'll pay them, but, sometime back I asked them to stop payment on a fraudulent monthly withdrawal from my account I even filed papers with them but they denied me. So I stopped paying the monthly charge cause I did not want a $94.00 fraudulent charge being takin out of my account monthly. They would not help.

Credit one after canceling my card at my request because the numbers were stolen transferred my account to a new card. They said no fraud charges went through, but in doing so wiped out my history and wont let me see what was charged. I now have a balance which I dont think I had before. I had paid off my balance and large charges came thru which they said they denied. But they wont let me see the transactions all of them to sed what was charged. I had a zero balance I believe.

Credit one sent me a check for $150 for "extra cash". I didn't know how to use it, so I called on April 20, 2022 and spoke to a customer service representative. He verified my ID, name, social security, account number, address and phone number. He told me that I simply deposit the check in my checking account and would be charged a $12 fee. The check bounced. My checking account is minus $150 plus a $35 fee. When I called Credit 1 they told me that I could only have deposited the check if I had $150 credit availability in my credit one account. They said they were sorry their CSR misinformed me. !!!!@ I'm a disabled senior and feel I've been scammed.

I was approved for a CreditOne Bank Secured Credit Card. I paid the "initial fees, processing, annual" online and then received my card. In order to activate the card, I was required to pay a $300 security deposit, which I was aware of. However, I never paid the deposit, as I was later approved for an unsecured card. I assumed the Account was never activated. To my unhappy surprise, CreditOne has reported on my credit report that I owe $335, and I have missed 6 payments. Can they report a failure to pay the collateral for the card, as a debt owed and not paid ????? This seems like a FCRA violation.

Hello. I hope you are keeping well. Hate to share this story, but here goes. I began this in the Chat box but after I hit return (prior to finishing) the chat ended. I'll continue here. RECAP: 1. I closed by my accounts, each always on time, each closed WITH balances. At the time I called I was told my account was in good standing, nothing at all noted on my account (I had 4 credit cards and 2 ATM cards stolen in March (verifiable) and all cards were reissued incl. one from Credit One. Unfort. the thief charged thousands of dollars on my ATM (personal and business) cards at Apple.com and my Credit One monthly pmt and all others were returned :( I received a foreboding from Credit One email that if this happened again they would close my acct. Well, all the pmts were re-submitted electronically and again, all were returned. I called Credit One to close my account to cut them off at the pass so to speak b/c as you know an account closed by credit grantor is BAD for FICO. Agent tried to talk me out of it saying, "I don't see any returned items and there is nothing wrong with your account". I knew better and insisted. She read me the disclaimre and account was closed. WHAT DO YOU KNOW? the next day I received an email from Credit One saying THEY were closing my account! Bracing myself for that mess. 2. Made my June pmt. Regardless, the INCESSANT CALLS began. I have OVER 42, FORTY TWO calls over an 8 day period (weekends incl.). I ignored them as the account was NOT delinquent and there was nothing to discuss. They didn't stop. SO, on four occassions I DID answer. AND, I began with "WTF is wrong with you people?" (yes, it's true, I was very aggressive at their psychotic intrusions on my cell phone). BUT, instead of an agent SAYING anything, EACH and EVERY TIME, they hung up. Each time I blocked the numbers but they used different numbers often. 3. I went online to check the status, to assure myself that in fact the accounts (I have two, one Credit One Amex closed prior and the Visa recent closed. To my amazement (I took screen shots) they had SWITCHED my accounts. For example my $1,100 limit Visa was now the Amex and vice-versa. BIZARRE. Logged in a day later, and still the accounts were flipped including recent transactions (i.e. Amex has been closed so used Visa but statements online say and are categorized as Amex charges!) What the heck is going on?! 4. I just tried to go online to schedule another payment. NOW, I'm LOCKED out of the account (well, I DO get IN, and then instead of loading the account overview, etc. it logs me out and I'm back to login page. UNBELIEVABLE. So now, other than sending a check, I cannot pay my bill! I HAVE EVERY BELIEVE THAT THIS ISSUE IS GOING TO HAUNT ME. And, so, I'm aiming to get ahead of it if possible. The harassment is a start but I imaging my FICO will take a hit IF in fact they do FRAUDULENTLY declare that THEY closed my account AFTER I did, specifically. Looking forward to speaking with someone about options. Thank you kindly, Lisa

Good Afternoon Sirs, My name is Jennifer and yes I have bad credit; However, one company in particular (Credit One) is absolutely absurd. They call me at least more than a dozen phone calls a day (sometimes 20 x a day). I have proof of my calls from my cell phone records. I have finally started blocking them, but they of course find a way to call from other lines. I have a list of all the blocked numbers as well. This has to be harassment. This is beyond harassment. Sometimes I feel like they are going to comig to my door. I do not have the money right now. I am a single mom with no help. Prices have went up and I just cannot afford it. I am super upset and cry everyday over this harassment. I wish my circumstances were different, but they are not. It has made me sick with all these calls. You would think I owe they thousands and thousands of dollars. I mean I can't even work at my place of business without my phone ringing constantly. It is embarrassing. I go to a school function for my son in the evening, they call me. Is there anyway to take action on this? Or lead me in the right direction? I am not going to deal with this. They have even called my mothers cell phone number and my sister who lives in Arizona. It is crazy! Kind regards, Jennifer

Hi Jennifer. Unfortunately, debt collectors will call your friends and family to try to get in contact with you. This is permitted by the law, but they do have to follow certain rules. They are also prevented from harassing you, and if they are doing so, you could be entitled to compensation. If you can send over a copy of the numbers and times you've been called by Credit One Bank to my office at 312 300 5996, I will look it over and then give you a call to discuss how to best deal with this situation. They will not stop. I'm beyond on payments, sure. I get it. But from day one, they have harassed. Ten different phone numbers per day, all day and night. Most of the time, I'm working, like right now, so I can't answer. But if I reject they call right back. If I tell them I can't talk right now, I'm busy, they call right back. I started up with a credit repair service and got on a payment plan with them, but they kept adding more interest charges and wouldn't discuss it so I closed it and throughout all of that, the phone calls didn't stop. It's been two months, about to roll over into collections JUST NOW. Fuck these guys.

Consolidation company is trying to resolve but they are asking for a lump sum of over $1000 if I had that then I wouldn't need the consolidation company, which by the way is the option I wanted to go with rather than bankruptcy which will be my next move. I closed this card because I was very unhappy with their practices. I had a credit on my account at closing and they asked me for money to send the check. I paid the fee to get my money and then nothing ever came. Instead this company starting charging me fees which ate up this credit of almost $200 and have charged me over $45 dollars a month in bogus fees when this card is closed. I receive on average up to 5 robo calls from them a day and they have intentionally reported false information to all three credit bureaus that I owe them money. It’s now up to $248 and climbing. I purchased this credit card off the Experian website to increase my credit score but instead I have been harassed and scammed and they have deliberately destroyed my credit. Experian refuses to dispute this information and if I try to dispute it they close it out within hours without proper investigation. This company has destroyed my credit which has had devastating consequences to my life. I have reported this to the CFPB and Controller of Currency. I doubt anything will be done and I’m too poor and too emotionally and physically exhausted to take them on in court. This is a horrible company and bank and I hope someday I see this company Credit One Bank properly prosecuted for criminal acts. This is more than predatory. These are criminals that are scamming and stealing money and destroying peoples lives.

I am reaching out to seek your assistance regarding an ongoing issue I am facing with Credit One. I apologize for the urgency of this matter, but it has become increasingly challenging for me to handle. Unfortunately, I fell victim to a scam, which has put me in severe financial difficulties and caused me to fall behind on all my payment obligations. Since a late payment on my credit card account, I have been relentlessly hounded by Credit One representatives. Despite my repeated requests to stop the constant phone calls, the harassment continues with multiple calls being made to me every day, starting from early mornings and extending throughout the day, including evenings and weekends. This relentless pattern of calls is causing me significant distress. To make matters worse, during one of these calls, a representative attempted to coerce me into paying the full balance owed immediately. Given the gravity of the situation, I humbly seek your expertise in resolving this matter effectively. At the age of 71, I find myself not only coping with the financial loss caused by the scam but also having to endure persistent phone calls from Credit One on a daily basis. These continuous disruptions are making my life more challenging. Although I am fully committed to repaying my debt, my current circumstances have made it extremely difficult for me to afford basic necessities. I kindly request if you can give me some guidance or assistance to navigate through this distressing situation. Thank you for your attention to my concerns. Please feel free to reach me at your convenience.

Credit One Bank is calling me 25+ times a day everyday even on weekends, for my overdue credit card payment. I have a $300 credit limit but it now almost$500 cause they keep charging me interest and a late fee every month even though I am not using the card. My husband also has a seperate account with them and they call him almost as many times as they call me. Oh and they call from like 3 or 4 different numbers and not all of them say Credit One. I have asked them to stop calling and they argue with me and try to get me to secure a payment then when I was able to pay they try to pressure me to pay more that what the minimum payment is and its more then I could afford at the time but they dent let up at all. I have documented proof of the multitude of calls from Credit One Bank. It is harassing and prevented me from making a living. I use my cell for work and they call non-stop, up to 13 times a day. They have use various numbers. This is bananas!!! I have increased anxiety and stress of how often and random their calls have become.

I have an account with Credit One Bank. I was laid off in November and have kept up with it until January. My payment isn\'t even 30 days past due yet and they are blowing my phone up. Since Friday, they have called my mobile 35 times!

Credit One keeps charging me late fees when I pay ontime or before duedate by electronic bill pay through my bank. They don\'t post my payments for over a week. Every month I have to fight them with screen shots from my bank of my payments that were paid ontime to get refunded for late fees and concerned about my credit report because of this. I believe they are holding my payments to collect interest. They also hold payments if I make more than one within a month to pay off my cc.
