Kemper Collection Agency is demanding that I pay a debt to Chase Bank, formerly Washington Mutual that they say is from 2012 of $8,648.09. They are threatening to sue. They asked me to put up a partial payment to hold off arbitration. What is the likelyhood that they will sue if I do not pay?

Hi Mark, I'm sorry to hear Delanore Kemper & Associates is giving you a hard time over this Washington Mutual debt. You should find out of the debt is within the statute of limitations. If the debt is outside the statute of limitations, then Delanore Kemper & Associates cannot sue you if you do not pay the debt. Have you received anything in writing? Also, check your credit report to see when the last activity was on the Washing Mutual account. I will call you to further discuss this on the phone. Thanks, Mike.

hi, i was recently contacted by kemper & associates about a dept, from a payroll checked that i had cashed in 2012, that had bounced. they said that i need to either pay a settlement fee or set up on payments in order to stop this from going to court. i told them that i need time to figure out my financial situation and that i would call them back. they call me back twice after only a couple of hours to see what I've come up with. when i told them that i couldn't come up with the money right now, that i would need more time, they told me that i didn't have time and that this had to be resolved today. so feeling forced i gave them my debit card number and set up a payment to be taken out on the 4th of September. they where very force full and demanding. but i dont really have the money to pay this right now. what should i do?

Susan witherspoon called from this debt collection agency about a debt from 2010. I don't even remember anything about it. I asked for the information to be mailed to me about the debt. She then told me that once she files the criminal lawsuit against me i can get the information from there. She was talking about 4 months payment. So i again said i need the debt in writting. She told me see you in court. I said ok but i still need to have a written document about the debt. I then informed her about a statute of limitations. She then told there was no statute of limitations. But the day before when she called that was angle of they where pushing the debt. It is a paydayloan that she calling about. I have checked for a license in missouri to be online payday loan and they have nothing. They are not licensed in missouri. It isn't like i am trying to not take care of my debts but back then i went through a nasty divorce and this is probley why i don't remember anything about the debr. This is the first time i have heard from them in 6 years.

I received a similar call yesterday from them regarding a credit card account with Washington Mutual/Providian/Chase that hasn't been open since 2006. I looked on my credit report and the account was settled in June of 2012. When I told "Robert" this, he told me that it must be because I had 2 cards and they just found the other one. I stated that it was not on my credit report and that I believe both cards were combined for the settlement. He asked me for proof. He is stating that I owe over $6000 when my credit limit for both cards didn't even total $2500. He called my mother and my work. I did not give him any information. He didn't even ask to verify any information. I honestly took it as a scam. The number he was calling from was 678-273-3482. I certainly can't believe an account that large would not be put on my credit report. Just wondering what do I do. And by the way....I can see people's phone number. So, I will not post mine.
