I am currently attempting to get a job to pay off my student loan debt to Sallie Mae. They have called me multiple times, and I have told them more than once that I cannot pay because I do not have a job. Prior to becoming unemployed, I had been paying my loan bills to Sallie Mae on time. Recently, Sallie Mae took things a step further and began bothering the people I used as references for the student loan. Specifically, they have called my references multiple times even though debt collectors are prohibited from calling third parties more than once about a loan.
