THIS IS MY SECOND TIME FILING THIS CASE, BECAUSE THE BBB SAID THAT THEY MAILED ME A CORRESPONDENCE ON OCTOBER 6, 2012, AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANYTHING!I got a loan to purchase a 2003 Dodge Neon back in 2005.My mother was my co-signer.We were making our payments and I still have the receipts until today. We were accused of being one month behind every time that we went into the office to make a payment, although we have receipts that say that we were current, as well as words from the clerks own mouth. My mother and I began to notice that our receipts had two payments on them for the same month, and that was fishy. We made one of our many payments back in 2007, and we were told that we were current.Surprisingly, my car was reposessed the next day for “non-payment”.I heard of other people being scammed with this company in my area, and the next thing that we knew, the SLM Financial office closed down!We contacted corporate, and spoke to the “president”, but as suspected, they didn’t do anything about it!My mom and I felt outnumbered, so we just gave up on the lawsuit that we were going to go forth with.I checked my credit report recently, and I saw that SLM Financial said that I owed $238, but this is the same payment that I made before they reposessed my car!I was so upset, so I Googled SLM Financial complaints, and amazingly there were 265 class action lawsuit members who each won $3,500 in the Wrongful Repo Class Action Lawsuit, in which the settlement was reached on December 15, 2011.I had no idea about this, so I called a lawyer in the state that it was filed. He told me that I was too late to file or even file a personal lawsuit! How is this possible, when the decision was just reached a few months ago?Do you have any advice for me?I would greatly appreciate it!Thanks, and I hope to hear from you soon!
