Do you think Venmo is not playing fair? You have rights under the law and we can help you at no cost to you.  UDAAP is an acronym representing laws that prohibit Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices in the context of trade or business.

THE BEST PART IS…

If Venmo violated the law, you may be entitled to money damages and Venmo will pay our fees and costs. You won’t owe us a dime for our services. What is Venmo?

Venmo is a mobile payment processing service established in 2009. It is a subsidiary of the major payment processor PayPal, which is headquartered in San Jose, California.

Despite Venmo’s Better Business Bureau (BBB) accreditation since 2016, the BBB advises consumers against using the service for purchases and sales:

“Do not use the Venmo app or website to transact with people you don’t know, especially if the transaction involves the purchase or sale of a good or service (e.g., items from Craigslist, Instagram, and Facebook). These transactions are potentially high risk and Venmo does not offer a protection program for any purchase or sale that you conduct by sending money through the Venmo app or website. You could lose your money without getting what you paid for, or potentially lose funds for an item you’re attempting to sell.”

Venmo Complaints

There is a pattern of complaints against Venmo for freezing users’ accounts, failure to release funds or process transactions, and the lack of a payment protection program for users. Unfortunately, these complaints are just the beginning for Venmo, and customers are left wondering what options they have regarding their consumer rights.

We Fix Complaints When Customer Service Won’t

Have you received poor service? Do you have complaints with billing? Do you want customer service at Venmo to listen?

If your complaints haven’t been heard, we can help. At Mike Agruss Law we help customers who have been mistreated by big companies and we turn your complaints into resolutions. We’ll not only file your legal demands with Venmo, we’ll negotiate with the company. If your claim isn’t resolved through these negotiations, we’ll work through the legal process that is outlined in your Venmo contract, which is typically arbitration.

Mike Agruss Law gets results — including zero balances, refunds, and other compensation.

Here’s How to Make Big Companies Listen

It can be frustrating when you rely on a service and don’t get the results you’ve paid for. Big companies make mistakes every day and not only is it their fault, but it can cost you money and time and leave you with big headaches.

Have you tried calling Venmo to address an issue, only to be told that the representative has no authority to do so? Or maybe you’ve tried talking to someone higher up in the company, only to be ignored, dismissed, or they take too long, continuing to waste your precious time. Maybe you’ve sent an email to the company which only resulted in a prefabricated response or they never follow through with what they’ve promised.

When you’re limited in your choices for service providers or you’re locked into a contract, what can you do?

Fortunately, you do have options.

Use Arbitration to Settle Your Complaint

Most companies like Venmo have an arbitration clause in their contracts to prevent being taken to court for traditional litigation. This is actually an advantage for the consumer. When you request an arbitration hearing, an independent third party (the arbitrator) with knowledge of the particular type of situation will listen to the facts from both sides and make an impartial, binding decision. Venmo will have to do a lot of work and there is no guarantee that they will have a successful outcome.

Arbitration is Fast, Inexpensive, and Private

Arbitration with Venmo is conducted through the American Arbitration Association (AAA). According to the AAA Consumer Due Process Protocol, arbitration through AAA will comply with their Statement of Principles, which includes:

  • The process is fundamentally fair – All parties are entitled to qualified, competent, impartial arbitrators who will conduct a fair hearing.
  • You get access to all relevant information – This includes reasonable costs, confidentiality, reasonable time limits, and meeting times and/or locations that are agreeable to both parties.
  • Transparency – AAA provides clear arbitration agreements and the ability for each side to hire their own representation.
  • Just process – Arbitration allows the arbitrator to award the same relief as traditional litigation in a binding decision.
  • Alternative to arbitration – Mediation and the ability to take the case to small claims court should be available in some cases.

Arbitration Gives you Control and Leverage

When Venmo is alerted that you plan to pursue arbitration, they know it will cost them money out of pocket. Not only do they run the risk of losing the case, but they will also pay for their mistake(s) and the arbitration itself. This gives you more leverage with your demands.

If Venmo doesn’t meet those demands and you have a real complaint, Mike Agruss Law can help by representing you in arbitration where you will get a fair, just, and transparent hearing.

Control and Leverage Trigger Faster Settlements

Large companies like Venmo don’t like the uncertainty and loss of control that comes with arbitration. Not only do they lose the advantage in the situation, but you’re on equal footing with them in the eyes of arbitration.

The first step in taking on Venmo is to formally raise your complaint. Our lawyers at Mike Agruss Law can help you to do so. We will send a letter of demands to the corporate offices of Venmo, letting them know that you’re ready to begin arbitration if a satisfactory resolution is not achieved. Typically, this is 30 days, but it will depend on your specific contract with Venmo.

Approximately 50% of cases will settle before proceeding to an arbitration hearing during this time. However, if Venmo doesn’t offer a reasonable settlement within the appropriate time frame, the next step would be filing a case with AAA. Mike Agruss Law will not only put together the necessary paperwork for arbitration, but we will also help you take the next steps in the arbitration process.

UDAAP and Arbitration

UDAAP is an acronym representing laws that prohibit Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices in the context of trade or business. This includes misrepresentation, deception, false advertising, or false promises. These laws emerged following the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that was enacted in response to the 2008 financial crisis. The ultimate goal with these laws is geared towards protecting consumers involved in financial transactions, educating consumers on their rights, and allowing them access to information and resources to best inform their decisions.

UDAAP laws are regulated by two organizations: the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC expanded the initial UDAAP laws in 2004 to include unfair and deceptive acts and practices. Some standards for unfairness, in particular, include if it causes or is likely to cause substantial injury to consumers, the injury is not reasonably avoidable by consumers, and the injury is not outweighed by countervailing benefits to consumers or to competition.

Every state has UDAAP laws, which can vary widely. However, the lawyers at Mike Agruss Law understand these laws and can use them to get compensation for deceptive practices, representing consumers throughout the country in cases of arbitration at no cost to them. The company will not only pay the consumer, but they will also pay my fees as well. The consumer will never pay me a cent.

If you’re dealing with an issue with Venmo, you might try filing a complaint with the BBB or the customer service team with Venmo. Unfortunately, these avenues won’t always lead to a successful resolution for you, the customer. Instead, you may want to consider an experienced arbitration lawyer to take on your case.

Arbitration is a very useful tool for resolving disputes, and Mike Agruss Law can help. With our expert guidance, we bring the big companies to the table and provide the support needed to get your bills corrected, credit reports fixed, improper fees refunded, and more. Let us pick up the sword for you; you have nothing to lose.

How Do I File a Complaint Against Venmo?

We will use your state’s UDAAP law to file a complaint in Arbitration on your behalf at no cost to you. UDAAP laws include misrepresentation, deception, false advertising, or false promises. Under your state’s UDAAP law, you are likely entitled to money damages for your actual damages. Plus, the other side will pay our fees and costs. You will not pay us a penny.

I used venmo to send my mother money I first sent her 1 dollar to make sure it worked then I sent her $750 dollars and it would not let her withdraw the money to her bank so she sent it back to me and I tried to withdraw it and it would not let me . I called venmo and the guy said my account was frozen and only way I can get my money is to resend and have her try to withdraw it again which I did and it would not let her withdraw it so she sent it back and I tried sending it to my aunt for her and it sent it back to my Venmo and would not allow me to withdraw it so I contacted them again and they said my account is frozen to send my id and I did then for two weeks I waited and they said I violated agreements and my account is deactivated and they won't give me my 751 dollrs in my account

Hello Daniel. You're not the first person to have issues with sending money through Venmo. This has been a problem with their company for a few years and the FTC was actually involved after numerous consumer complaints that unfortunately continue to this day. Give me a call at 888 572 0176 and we can discuss your options and let's see if we can get your $751 dollars back. Thanks, Mike

I received money in my venmo account totaling 2500 for a few items I sold to family and they paid me for them. Venmo allowed someone to hack my account send my money to themselves and also get money sent to them form strangers on my venmo account. They change my info that my venmo was connected to. I immediately contacted venmo and was given a credit of 2500 dollars venmo then froze and permanently deactivated my account and said the funds In the account will be held for up to 180 days. I cannot move the money or do anything with my account. I spoke with multiple reps and I explained to them my email was hacked that was associated with my venmo account. They continuously stated that a rep had contacted me and I need to go look for the email. I explained to them I don’t have access to the email because it was hacked. Venmo told me it was nothing they could do. I just want my money back.

I have a friend that paid me $4000 through Zelle which was connected to my Venmo account. I received the money in 3 separate payments and was trying to transfer it to my bank account. The transaction did not go through and I contacted Venmo and they asked me to submit an ID and bank statement. I did and they replied with an email that the account was frozen and my money would be held for 180 days and might be returned to me. I followed up with another request and they responded with this message: I’m very sorry, but we are unable to release these funds to you. To better understand how this can occur and how Venmo handles this type of situation, I encourage you to review the "Refunds, Reversals and Chargebacks" section of our User Agreement, which states that we may hold your funds for up to 180 days if reasonably needed to protect against the risk of liability. If the funds in your Venmo account become available to you, we will contact you within 180 days at the email address on file with your account. I'm sorry that this is likely not what you hoped to hear, but I hope it provides some additional context. At this point, I believe I've addressed all I can address regarding this matter, so I'm going to move forward with closing this case. Best, Kessia B. | Account Specialist | Venmo Looking at the account now I had not realized the payments have come through as purchase refunds which is wrong. They are payments sent by a friend. They are marked payment refunds incorrectly by Venmo.

Venmo froze my account for reaso s unknown and refuse to rectify the situation. I will lose my job tomorrow. I've not eaten in 24hrs. My employer sent me the money which was my first transaction on venmo. I immediately attempted to transfer the funds of $250 to my cash app debit card and it did not allow me to do so. This is unacceptable and completely unfair I've spoken with five different Representatives all to tell me the same thing that they have to transfer me to another team which eventually tells me the same thing they have to transfer me to another team. If you guys could immediately reach out to them maybe they will take it serious and unlock my account

Venmo is being scammed by another user that used my and theirs transaction to do the scam. Somehow now the scammer has double the money and my account is frozen in the negative. Venmo says I must pay the $200 they paid to unfreeze my account even after I showed them the proof of the person getting the money. They also agreed with me that I proved my point.

Hi Kimana. After they've agreed with you, did Venmo make any suggestions about your options? That's where the real customer service will come into effect. Have they given you any idea about unfreezing your account? If you need help with this situation, feel free to reach out to me and we can chat about your best course of action. Thanks, Mike

Had a friend send me $2900 to pay me back for rent. I immediately tried to withdraw to my bank and it said it couldn’t be approved. I then got an email asking to submit ID, which I did promptly and they said it was Successful. Then they asked for 2 bank statements which I submitted promptly, only to get an email a few days later saying my account was suspended and the $2900 I was sent “may” be able to be withdrawn after 180 days. This is criminal

Hi Joseph. Venmo claims these actions are to prevent fraud, but what they're doing is causing consumers to be stuck in a bad situation when they can't access their money, especially during these difficult economic times. Unfortunately, your story is like so many others I've heard. I would be happy to speak with you about your account with Venmo and work with you to see how we can get this remedied. Hello - my Venmo account was frozen, without warning or reason on 7/9/2022. I contacted Venmo support, submitted online Support requests, and am unable to have anyone respond to the reasons my account is frozen and unable to access my $1,090 balance. I continue to call Venmo support each week and am told that only an Account Specialist can resolve the issue, but they will not provide any additional contact info to speak to an Account Specialist. They only convey that I will "receive an email from the Account Specialist" - but I still have never received an email. I only use Venmo for family and friends - and I have not seen any suspicious transactions attempted on my account.

Venmo is holding my money and frozen my account. They said it would be fixed within 7 business days which never happened. And I have sent numerous emails and talked with numerous supervisors and got nothing done just ignored me. And said they can't do nothing. Even do it states in there policy If they can't verify my identity within the time frame of 7 business days I should be able to move my money as I please just not allowed to make venmo payments. Which I'm still mot allowed to move any money and after numerous attempts venmo has said they can't do nothing.

Hi Amber. This is a very common complaint against Venmo, they will often freeze and account with a high balance, especially a new account, to determine if there is fraud going on. Unfortunately, this process is not transparent and consumers are often left in the lurch about what is going on and when/if they will be able to access their funds. I would like to talk this over with you in more detail and I will give you a call so we can chat in a free, no-obligation consultation. Thanks, Mike

Hi Brooke. It is certainly frustrating using Venmo of late. They've dropped the ball on customer service and consumers are getting fed up. Let's talk more about the issues you're having with Venmo and see what we can do to help. have a Venmo account and recently my tenant applied for covid rental assistance and funds were deposited into my account to cover their past due rent. I used my Venmo account to have the fudns deposited to because I have become a victim of identity theft and was the only account that hadn't had any fraudulent transactions that had to be review and reported. Fast forward to August 18th, 2022 the rental assistance government program sent a deposit of $20,000 to my venmo account. Due to the amount Venmo required the funds being verified and spoke with the originator of the funds (the pandemic rental assistance program/government agency) to confirm the funds were being sent to the correct individual, the correct account, and the reason of the funds. This was all confirmed and the deposit was available the same day. On August 19th, 2022 I contacted Venmo Customer Service through the online chat feature (which provides a complete transcript following the completion of every chat that takes place) to inquire as to the best way to transfer the funds in my Venmo account to my own Bank account. During the chat I was informed of there being a limit on the dollar amount for each transfer request submitted. The Venmo Representative stated I could submit numerous transfers for the amount of $2,999 until the total amount requested match my total balance in my Venmo account. I asked several times if this would flag my account as "unusal" or "suspicious" activity. I also asked if the representative could notate my account to further show that I had spoken with a representative who instructed me to proceed and submit the transfer requests in this manner. The representative replied stating that I would not encounter any problem at all and assured me nothing would happen. They stated if I wanted additional assurance nothing would happen to submit the transfer request as a "standard" request and not an "instant" one which I did. Not 24 hours later I was informed that my account was "restricted" due ot "suspicious" activity. I have exhausted my efforts (have contacted over 30 times thru email, online chat, and phone calls) to resolve this matter. I have provided every piece of documentation they have requested 4 separate times with every representative reviewing my documents stating they were good, in addition to many of them stating my account would be unfrozen the next day. This matter has been "escalated" on 7 seperate occasions. I have asked why my account was frozen, i have asked why it remains frozen when everything I have stated can quickly and immediately be verified if they were to review the chat transcript that took place on August 19th where I was instructed to proceed in submitting my transfer requests in a manner that apparently led to my account being frozen. Even though I have stated this and have documentation of eveything that has transpired apparently no one at venmo seems to conern themselves with wanting to help a customer that was placed in this position potentially on purpose I am starting to wonder. I have had customer service agents at Venmo hang up on me 5 times, end online chats with me 6 times and accept my online chat request then immediately close it 4 times for asking simply what was the reason my account was frozen and why it remains frozen when every single representative can clearly confirm the validity of everything I have said if they review the chat transcript that was with their own coworker. Now I have been informed that my funds will be held for 180 days and my venmo account will remain frozen indefinitely. I have reached out to the pandemic rental assistance program who would help if they could they stated but there is nothing they can really do on their end since its not like the funds were returned or anything. They also have on record that they spoke with venmo when they first sent the funds so was confused why or how it was necessary to hold the funds for 180 days when Venmo has confirmed the funds went to the correct individual and everything else. I don't have any interest to continue using Venmo ever again I just want to receive my funds they are unjustly holding without any cause and this is affecting my life drastically. I am praying you can help me in some way. Thank you for you time.

Venmo froze my account after I unsuccessfully tried to add a new payment method. They requested I send id with last four of the payment method on file and address ect. I sent those documents 4 seperate times. They kept saying they needed it again and again but nothing was corrected. I had to pay 2 months worth of rent by the 28th and because of this I am now facing eviction. I told them this and basically told me to send the documents and they’re so sorry but it could take 10 MORE. Days to fix. I am a disabled veteran. My entire monthly paycheck goes to Venmo. I have no access to my money and my electricity is in danger of being shut off. I want to scream but they have nobody I can even scream out!

Hi! This is Peter Noel. I have piles of evidence Venmo has stolen $650 from my personal bank. The bankers at US Bank are personal bankers; they have assured me the money left my account. I have wasted over 20 hours of my life trying to resolve this issue. Venmo will not even acknowledge the photographic evidence I have supplied them with regarding the missing funds. I need help. This has created a huge amount of pain in my everyday life. Again, when I reach out to Venmo they will not even mention with words the photos I have supplied them with. It is critical I get my own money. Venmo cannot just steal hundreds of dollars of people and cause them incredible amounts of stress. Please help. Thank you, Peter Noel

My friend sent me $3,000 on 1/3/23. His Venmo was hacked & Venmo locked up the $3,000 (I had already sent to my bank account). Venmo now has locked my account, trying to get the $3,000 back. We have called multiple times asking where the money is, since in my friends bank account the $3,000 is gone. For some reason, Venmo is trying to take another $3,000 from him again. On top of that, since I am locked out of my Venmo, I am unable to use the service to send money + every thing sent to me is immediately used to \"pay my debts\" to Venmo. My friend has called his bank to try & find out more but they said the $3,000 has been approved. It has been over 2 months where my account has been locked. We have contacted Venmo multiple times, yet they continuously say we cannot solve the issue over the phone.

Venmo is freezing my account permanently with over $600 in it. They on two separate occasions told me what I needed to do and I would be able to access the funds and which both times they did neither of which they promised to do. I have all the emails stating all of this and all of it documented and they give no resolve or explanation for anything it is caused Great frustration and quite frankly a nightmare of an experience with the other venmo user I was trying to have a transaction with. Any help would be much appreciated

Hi, My Venmo account is currently frozen with a negative balance of $811.30, along with account recovery payments of $100.20 and $2.50. The payment of $914 was made to the \"STi Garage Door Repair\" company for repairing my garage door. However, after the repair was completed and the payment was made, I discovered that the issue with my garage door had not been resolved. Despite numerous attempts to contact the company, they were unresponsive. Additionally, they failed to provide the promised contract and invoices. Further investigation revealed that the address listed on the company\'s website was fictitious, and there is no actual company located at that address. I contact local law enforcement agency and the police investigation confirmed the fraudulent nature of this transaction. I have a copy of the police report. Venmo is ignoring my explanations via email ([email protected]), even after the police report was provided, and keeps calling me demanding the payment of $811.30. I would like to pursue legal action. What are my options? Best, Igor

I was paid a payment through Venmo, it was marked as a friends and family payment and I saw the person pay me directly and knew her for years. she later on claimed it was unauthorized or fraud Venmo has been visage one the details and then her funded was revoked. Venmo not only did not inform me in any direct way except email after the fact as I did not receive the first one they sent, then froze my account after closing the case. They are demanding I cover the money that as I see it is owed by the woman who paid and they are claiming it is because I \" I caused them to have a dispute filed.\" I have told them that one I did nothing to be the direct cause of any dispute and was not aware one had been filed until my account was frozen. They refuse to give me any real evidence showing my direct action causing this \"dispute\" also referred to as an unauthorized transaction. They are now calling and sending me emails stating I owe them the money and even took a payment made to me to cover part os this 350.00 dollars I don\'t owe. I am at a loss here and have no idea what to d, I refuse to pay the rest of the money and no face a whole laundry list of issue because of it. Thank you for you consideration and time. David Bradley

Venmo froze my account with no legal grounds when I tried to link an approved debit card. I spoke to a representative on the phone and she said it was \"security reasons\", however, she told me that I tried to move the money too fast. I gave them all the identification required proving my identity and my account is still frozen and now they are telling me it is because I tried to buy bitcoin through their mobile app. Under their terms of service there is nothing that constitutes the continuance of my account being frozen, once I provided my identification proving that there are no security risks.

In mid-August, Venmo froze my account after transferring funds between my legal single member LLC and personal account. Presumably in part due to AML rules. After weeks, I received an email requesting identity documents, which I complied with. They indicated at this time that my account would be reinstated. After some days, I responded to the email and again asked about the status of my account. I received the same boilerplate email that I received in August, stating that my issue needed to be \"escalated to a separate team\" and it would be \"7-10 business days before a response.\" This puts me into October. I filed a BBB complaint, which was not responded to. I am at my wits end. $4,000 is locked up, and now I want damages.

By way of background, on 09/01/2023, my wife sent $150 to user thomastyewibk as payment for a Macbook that was for sale on Facebook. However, shortly after transferring the money we discovered that it was actually a scam, that no Macbook actually existed, and thomastyewibk was not the person we thought we were transferring money to. At this juncture, we are not even sure that thomastyewibk is a real person. Immediately upon uncovering the scam, and before thomastyewibk transferred the money out of Venmo, my wife notified Venmo telephonically. She was advised by Venmo representatives that there was nothing that could be done on Venmo\'s end, and that we should notify her bank of the fraudulent charge. Her bank then opened a fraud investigation and thankfully did not allow the charge to go through. However, it seems that Venmo, in paying the $150 out of its own pocket, has also fallen victim to the scam. At this juncture, we have placed Venmo on notice of the fraudulent charge on four occasions, including immediately after transfer of the funds, and per Venmo\'s direction, notified my wife\'s bank. For this reason I have requested that my wife\'s account be unlocked so that she can continue to conduct my regular activities. Regarding the $150, as this was a fraudulent charge that Venmo was on notice of, we have no intention of remitting that amount. My wife and I have used Venmo for a number of years and have never had a bad interaction, however I would hate for the relationship to change over some small amount of money that should not have been remitted in the first place.

Venmo has frozen my account and provided no reason for doing so. I have spoken to them on the phone multiple times, and in support tickets multiple times. They continue to say that their special services team should have emailed me regarding why my account was frozen. They have not! They have said it could be 7 days before I even receive a reply on why my account was frozen. My account is fully verified, and I have a $400 balance that I CANNOT access. I am a mom of 5 children under 13, and this $400 is all I have until I start employment with a new company later this week, then still need to make it to my first paycheck. I was told on the phone with Venmo that I cannot use my Venmo debit card even to access my funds. Then in a support ticket later that day I was told I can use my Venmo debit card to access my funds at an ATM and to make purchases with my physical card. I asked for clarification because I had tried a purchase already and it was declined, and I was told conflicting information earlier on the phone. They CLOSED my ticket WITHOUT RESPONDING! I created another ticket and continued asking for information and clarification. In desperation, I drove 25 miles from my rural home to an ATM to try to withdraw my funds as I was told I could, and no surprise, it did NOT allow me to. My support tickets continue to be closed and go unanswered, and phone support continues to tell me there is nothing they can do and provide no explanation to why my account is frozen. I have read Venmo\'s terms and have violated none of them. My father sent me $500, and in the past had sent me $1000-$3000 multiple times, including $1500 two weeks ago, and I have never had an issue. I was able to transfer $100 out of the $500 he sent to my bank, then Venmo froze my account. No explanation, no email, no timeline for fixing the issue, no communication, no sympathy, no solutions, and their elusive \"special services team\" I was told only communicates through email, which I was not given. I have screenshots of every ticket and the conflicting information I was given, the questions I asked and where my ticket was closed without a reply, phone records of each time I called Venmo and the length of call, the physical ATM receipts showing where my Venmo Debit Card was rejected 3 times and 3 different ATM error codes for the information my bank (VENMO) kicked back to them, and every email of failed transactions and communication (or non communication) with Venmo since the account was frozen. I have been vigilant and unrelenting and have not been helped at all. I need this $400 out of my account desperately for my family to bridge the gap this week. I even asked Venmo if they could transfer my balance to my linked and verified Chase Bank account that is on file with them in my account (and has been for a while), while I wait for their team to decide why my account is frozen. (If I can supposedly use my Venmo Debit card still as they said (i cannot) then why can they not manually, on their end, transfer my funds to my already linked and verified bank account? This is ridiculous, and should be a crime to hold someone\'s funds without cause! and to not be able to speak to their special services team and have to wait for THEM to contact you through EMAIL whenever they feel like it is asinine and should be customer fraud. Please help me. Any advice or suggestions you have would be so greatly appreciated. I am in the process of submitted a complaint to the CFBP and Texas Attorney General.

I allowed a roommate to pay with Venmo (significant dollars-- $2150.00). They claim there was activity on the account causing it to be frozen-- which is a lie). They say their \"specialist\" will work on the account and will resolve it within 10 business days-- this is all fake venmo????

Long story short. I was kicked of Venmo about 8 years ago for a transaction. I was collecting money for my fraternity for a charity event and wasn\'t able to use my account with funds in it and never recovered from them my funds in that account. Now I recently sold my couches, and the people could only pay with Venmo. I deleted my old account, started a new and just to make sure my account was working I was sent 5 dollars from my girlfriend, and it came in and I was able to deposit it instantly with Venmo so, I told the guys buying couch that my Venmo is good to go. They sent me 3,000 dollars and now Venmo froze my account again and is holding my funds in the account. Only saying that my account is still frozen, and they can\'t do anything about it. I feel like this is a form of deception on their part. If, I\'m using the same phone number, my full name and social security then they allow to make another account have it work then just freeze it when I have over 3,000 dollars in funds in it and hold it with no answers. I don\'t know who else has gone through this but seems to me it has definitely happened.

Venmo closed my account and money in the account ($301) will be hold for 180 days. I used Venmo twice.First time friend of mine sent me $2250 for the bike that I sold already to someone else so I immediately returned money back to him from my Venmo account. Second time I funded my Venmo account $301 from my bank account. They suspended my account after this and kept on hold $301. They send me email stating that my account is closed and all funds in the account will be hold for 180 days. They said I violated their user agreement. No any explanation how I did that. I just want my money back. They can keep account.I don’t need it anyway.

Venmo has frozen funds 4 times since Septrmber. December 8 2023 funds get frozen trying to help my brother sending on Venmos platform. They do notballow transactions outside of Venmo. It\'s not all money they take. They take your ability to fight back. They break your trust and values and refuse to help you while saying I\'m sorry. Yes you have violated our policies and we believe your are a criminal. They froze my account when I bought Litecoin. The system would not allow to send my crypto to another wallet. I had to sell the crypto to send my cash I used to buy the crypto. They suspended my account after I sold the crypto. They charged me for the purchase and the sell and then suspended all funds for 10 days while they investigated me for violations. For a $40 purchase!! Investigate me for a $40 purchase I couldn\'t believe this was happening. I never heard from an investigator or findings from my $40 purchase. Its total abuse and harassment from a financial institution. I was never notified of any complaints allegations or justifications to be investigated as a criminal. For the enormous $40 transaction which I was forced to sell. I have had conversations with many on Reddit. People are hurting and without any association I would like to inform people in conversation of your services. Would that be allowed on a social platform? I want to help anyone can. Not looking to be an affiliate or any associate. Just have you to inform anyone and everyone of options. Venmo has to be held accountable for the abuse harrassment and pain. I want to file with the Courts of Columbia myself. Just to make them answer in federal court. I have filed informal complaints with the CFPB. My situation is small. It would mean a a lot of I could give everyone an option of your services. Thanking You in Advance J. Brandon Seale

I emailed Venmo telling them that I am trying to change my password but the system keeps giving me an error. They told me that in order to fix that, I need to change my password, which I just told them I can\'t do. This back and forth happened 6 times with them clearly not reading my email, and then they froze my account with $1,100 in my balance. It has been 2 weeks and I have not been able to get any resolution despite providing them the required documentation.

I have been a Venmo customer for years without any issues until recently. Venmo has suspended my account, and cannot provide a reason as to why my account is frozen, and now suspended all of a sudden. I have over $700 in my account right now, and I have spoken with 5, or more, different customer service specialists, who all ignore me, and fail to reply to my identity verification process. I have verified my identity 3 times, to no avail. My car was impounded the day before my account was frozen, and has now been sitting in the impound lot for over 2 weeks, with a $190 freeze on my car/the balance. I have a few days left before the time frame to pick up is gone, and I am about to loose my vehicle. I feel like it\'s a fraudulent attempt to keep consumers hard earned money, and I am ready to take the next step to recover my money, and a new vehicle.

Hi, on Sunday2/4 I paid who I thought was my Friend on FB 2000 on Venmo for concert tickets. After the payment went through the verbiage was very weird and they kept pushing off sending me the tickets. All of this conversation was happening through FB Messenger. After about 30 minutes of not receiving the tickets I immediately reached out to Venmo via chat and asked them to cancel the transaction. They said they couldn’t and recommended I speak to my financial institution. They created a ticket number for me and Monday morning I called my bank and they put a stop payment on that transaction. Today I wake up to a message from Venmo saying they couldn’t process my payment so they paid them and froze my account. Now I owe them 2000 Or they will send to collections. I have a dispute in that is escalated but they said it will take 10-15 business days to let me know. I do not have a lot of confidence that they will be able to recover the funds if they wait that long. If they can’t they say I have to pay them. Is there anything that can be done legally if I don’t win my dispute? Or am I out 2000? Thanks!

I received $3600 from a user through Venmo over a friends/family payment. The user bought some computer parts from me and picked them up locally. I detailed text conversations and records with the user describing the items, him paying for them, and him picking them up. A few weeks later he files a credit card chargeback for the full $3600. The dispute case was closed not in my favor, and Venmo wants to take $3600 from me or send me to collections. They have already taken $400 out of my account (I had these funds sitting in my account). I have been selling with Paypal annd Venmo for almost 10 years. I told them if they didn\'t return these funds I would seek litigation, so here I am. My ideal outcome is for the $400 to be returned to me and my so called \"debt\" to them be removed, because it\'s completely insane. Is this something you can help with? Email is the best way to reach me. Thanks so much. Maximillion Blumetti

Venmo was my designated claim distribution partner for when I received my crypto assets in the Celsius crypto bankruptcy, and now Venmo isn\'t allowing me to transfer my crypto off the platform. I am not sure if this step is too extreme on my side, but every day that passes, I lose the opportunity to use my crypto to trade and make further income.

After calling what I thought was Etsy customer service, there were a ton of Venmo, PayPal, and CashApp transactions placed in my name, to my children. The problem is that it LOOKS like these were legitimate transactions, but I didn\'t authorize any of them, nor did my kids receive any money. Now Venmo has frozen my account, saying they \"covered\" the transactions because I didn\'t have the money, and now I have to pay them back. Over $9k. Total amount of money stolen by scammers is close to $14k. I\'m an only parent of a college student and soon-to-be college student. This can ruin my credit and deplete all of my savings. I cannot afford for that to happen.

I had my federal income tax deposited into venmo. When it deposited into my account, venmo froze my account for \"suspicious activity\", and requested additional documentation. I sent all requested documents, they supposedly unfoze the account, but when I attempted to move those funds, the froze my account again. They requested documentation again, which I provided. They then permanently deactivated my account and stated they\'re going hold my funds for up to 180 for \"loss prevention\". I\'m a single mom that depends on those funds to keep us afloat.

My customer had me set a venmo account to receive payment for cleaning services in June of 2023 and paid me $650 through the App. I followed all the instructions and linked to my Wells Fargo account. For reasons never explained Venmo says \"Your Account Has Been Suspended\" and will not allow me to take my $650 out. I have made numerous phone calls and have sent numerous emails. I have asked them to release it in any possible, by check, bank transfer or let me transfer it back to my customer, but they refuse. Their emails say the situation has been escalated but they never follow up and have never given me an explanation. I am a US Citizen with pristine records and am in good standing with Wells Fargo which I had linked to Venmo. Can you get me my $650 or more?

Hello my name is Amber Lynn lovins Currie I just recently opened account with venmo and all morning long I have been trying to transfer a simple $10 first I tried my cash app debit card and it wouldn\'t go through although venmo let me link it to my venmo account so then I try sending it to my time checking account and for some reason venmo would not allow it to go through so then I tried linking my chime debit card to my venmo account to try to put it through that way, and venmo would not allow me at all to link my debit card from chime to my venmo account. I spent literally all morning talking to I think five different supposed agents which I believe were actually AI and kept getting the runaround I had the transcripts that I can send to you if needed of each conversation. I then got very frustrated and upset and asked to speak to a supervisor immediately and was told that I was not going to be able to speak to a supervisor at all that I had to wait for an email that was the only way I could communicate with one. So then I asked for a phone number to supervisor and was given just the in general phone number for venmo, so I called it and no matter what option I picked it would not allow me to speak to a live person at all. So then I decided I was just going to send the $10 to my husband\'s memo account and then we can send it through to his debit card and when I tried to do that I got a message saying that my account was now suspended and Frozen due to unusual account activity. When all morning long I have been trying to work with somebody about helping me transfer this measly $10 to one of my other account\'s. And now is being told that I\'m going to have to wait 7 to 10 business days to get this matter resolved when I didn\'t do anything wrong this is ever since I opened this account been a major headache venmo is horrible I believe they are scammers. Just the fact that I was not able to speak to a live person at all to resolve this is very sketchy, all I want to do was get my $10 out of my account and be done with them but they\'re making it impossible and causing me a lot of stress on top of stress I\'m already going through and dealing with at this very moment having to deal with this and not getting anything resolved, has made my stress level is my blood pressure go up immensely. I would like to sue them for the stress unnecessarily that they\'re causing me the time that I have wasted trying to resolve this when I have a lot of very important things I am trying to do in a business I\'m trying to get started I don\'t have time for this nonsense and they\'re supposed to be a professional company financial company at that. So if you could help me with this matter I would more than greatly appreciate it, take care and God bless and thank you for your time. Amber Currie
