The written exam is mandatory to complete and pass before one can obtain their motorcycle license. In Illinois, the exam is 15 questions long and you must correctly answer 12 out of the 15 in order to pass. The length and content will vary from test to test and state to state. The written exam tests your knowledge of the rules of the road, the necessary safety precautions for a motorcycle, and more.
Along with the written exam, you must pass a skills exam to show your application of what you have learned on the road. Once you pass both exams, you should be eligible to obtain your own motorcycle license. These steps are simply necessary to ensure that you are a safe and knowledgeable motorcycle rider!
