Introduction
Armour Square is on Chicago’s South Side that also includes Chinatown and the CHA Wentworth Gardens housing project. Armour Square is bordered by Bridgeport to the west and Bronzeville to the east, with Pilsen and near the South Side bordering the area to the north and Fuller Park bordering its southernmost boundary along Pershing Road.
Transportation
Armour Square is served by the Dan Ryan branch of the CTA’s Red Line which stops at Cermack-Chinatown and Sox-35th. The Metra also services Armour Square on the Rock Island Line via the 35th Street Station.
Armour Square also has access to Divvy rideshare bicycles, as well as Lyft/Uber rideshare services and taxi services. Unfortunately, this means that rideshare accidents, pedestrian accidents, motor vehicle accidents, and public transportation accidents can be common in the area.
Demographics
Armour Square has a population of 14,068 in its 0.99 square miles. The largest population within the area is of Italian and Croatian descent, however, the area has a large Asian population in Chinatown as well.
Traditionally, Armour Square has been a working-class neighborhood and the median household income is $24,336 according to the most recent U.S. Census.
Education
Armor Square is serviced by Chicago Public Schools, which include:
- Haines
- J.Ward
- Phillips Academy High School
When sending your child off to school you assume they will remain safe, however, this isn’t always the case. School bus accidents, gym and physical education accidents, lack of supervision, playground injuries, and school district negligence are just a few examples of the types of school injury cases America’s Consumer Lawyer has experience with.
Attractions
Armour Square is home to many activities and attractions, which include:
- Armour (Philip) Square Park
- Ping Tom Memorial Park
- Chinese American Museum of Chicago
- Guaranteed Rate Field
- Chicago Public Library
While most of the time spent at these Armour Square attractions will be enjoyable and uneventful, accidents can occur, including slip and falls, bicycle accidents, bus accidents, car accidents, drinking and driving, dog bites, and playground accidents.
