Introduction

Dearborn Homes is a Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) public housing project located in the Bronzeville Neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side on State Street between 27th and 30th Streets. Dearborn Homes is one of only two housing projects that still exist on the State Street Corridor.

The project occupies 16 acres and consists of mid-rise, six-story, and nine-story buildings that originally had 800 units, which have been reduced in the early 2010’s to 660.

Transportation

Dearborn Homes is accessible via the Green and Red Lines of the Chicago Transit Authority, as well as the Metra Electric District Main Line.

Residents also have access to Lyft/Uber rideshare services. Unfortunately, this means that rideshare accidents, pedestrian accidents, motor vehicle accidents, and public transportation accidents can be common in the area.

Education

Dearborn Homes are primarily serviced by Chicago Public Schools which include:

  • John B. Drake Elementary School
  • Williams Middle Prep Academy
  • Urban Prep Charter Academy for Young Men

When sending your child off to school you assume they will remain safe, however, this isn’t always the case. School bus accidents, gym and physical education accidents, lack of supervision, playground injuries, and school district negligence are just a few examples of the types of school injury cases America’s Consumer Lawyer has experience with.
