Introduction
Dunning is on the Northwest side of Chicago and is home to the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center, formerly known as the Cook County Insane Asylum. In the 1980’s and 1990’s, Dunning, Belmont Heights, Belmont Terrace, Irving Woods, and Schorsch Village experienced a revival, with a residential, commercial, and institutional growth.
Transportation
Dunning residents and visitors have access to the Chicago “L” Blue Line, Busses #152 and #90, and the Milwaukee District West train.
Dunning residents also have access to Lyft/Uber rideshare services. Unfortunately, this means that rideshare accidents, pedestrian accidents, motor vehicle accidents, and public transportation accidents can be common in the area.
Demographics
Dunning and its surrounding neighborhoods have a population of 43,025 in its 3.75 square miles. The largest population within the area is of Polish descent, with one in three residents with Polish heritage, the highest rate of any ethnic group in any Chicago neighborhood according to the most recent U.S. Census.
Many of the neighborhood’s residents are city workers, including police, fire, and city workers. The median household income of Dunning is $59,737.

School bus accidents, gym and physical education accidents, lack of supervision, playground injuries, college accidents, and school district negligence are just a few examples of the types of school injury cases America’s Consumer Lawyer has experience with.
Attractions
Dunning is home to many activities and attractions, which include:
- Shabbona Park

While most of the time spent at these Dunning attractions will be enjoyable and uneventful, accidents can occur, including slip and falls, bicycle accidents, bus accidents, car accidents, drinking and driving, dog bites, and playground accidents.
