Introduction
Englewood is located on the South Side of Chicago and is bordered by Garfield Boulevard to the north, 75th Street to the south, Racine Avenue to the west, and an irregular border that goes along the Metra Railroad Tracks to the east. On the west lies West Englewood, which is generally considered part of Englewood by most in Chicago.
Transportation
The main roadway through Englewood is Halsted Street. Both the CTA’s Red Line and Green Line provide public transportation for the area, as well as the METRA Electric District and Busses #24, #29, and #63.
Englewood residents also have access to taxi services and Divvy and Lyft/Uber rideshare services. Unfortunately, this means that rideshare accidents, pedestrian accidents, motor vehicle accidents, and public transportation accidents can be common in the area.
Demographics
Englewood has a population of 26,121 in its 3.09 square miles according to the most recent U.S. Census. The median household income for Englewood is $19,854.
Education
Englewood is primarily serviced by Chicago Public Schools including:
- Sherwood
- Dewey
- Holmes
- Woods
- Banneker
- Parker
- Yale
- Hinton
- Harvard
- Paul Robeson High School
- Hope High School
- Dyett High School

Englewood is also home to Kennedy-King College.
When sending your child off to school you assume they will remain safe, however, this isn’t always the case. School bus accidents, gym and physical education accidents, lack of supervision, playground injuries, college accidents, and school district negligence are just a few examples of the types of school injury cases America’s Consumer Lawyer has experience with.
Attractions
Englewood is home to a handful of activities and attractions, which include:
- Hamilton Park
- World’s Fair Hotel
- Honorary Bernie Mac Street
- Ryan Harris Memorial Park
While most of the time spent at these Englewood attractions will be enjoyable and uneventful, accidents can occur, including slip and falls, bicycle accidents, bus accidents, car accidents, drinking and driving, dog bites, and playground accidents.
