North Lawndale, known by most residents as Lawndale, is located on the West Side of Chicago and includes the neighborhoods of Douglas Park, K-Town, Homan Square, and Lake Meadows.

Transportation

North Lawndale is accessible by the Chicago “L” Pink Line, as well as the UP-W Train and Busses #18 and #82..

Douglas Park was named after U.S. Senator Stephen A. Douglas, though originally named South Park. The park is 173 acres with an official address of 1401 S. Sacramento Drive.

• K-Town

K-Town is a nickname for an area in North Lawndale, and West Garfield Park between Pulaski Road and Cicero Avenue in which the names of many north-south avenues begin with the letter K, including Keystone, Karlov, Kedvale, Keeler, Kenneth, Kilbourn, Kildare, Kolin, Kolmar, Komensky, Kostner, Kilpatrick, Kenton, Knox, and Keating.

• Homan Square

Once the site of the Sears Headquarters, Homan Square was redeveloped in 1988 as an owned and rental mixed-income housing area.
