Introduction
Riverdale and its associated neighborhoods are located on the far southeast side of Chicago and extends from 115th Street south to the city boundary at 138th Street and from the Illinois Central Railroad tracks east to the Bishop Ford Freeway.
Transportation
Riverdale is accessible via Bus #352 and the METRA Electric District and Rock Island District trains.
The area also has access to Lyft/Uber rideshare services, and taxi services. Unfortunately, this means that rideshare accidents, pedestrian accidents, motor vehicle accidents, and public transportation accidents can be common in the area.
Demographics
Riverdale has a median household income of $14,846 according to the most recent U.S. Census. The population in the area is 7,090 within its 3.36 square miles. Over half of Riverdale’s area is made of a water reclamation plant, rail yards, landfills, and industrial sites.

Education
Riverdale students are primarily serviced by the City of Chicago School District, magnet schools, and private schools, including:
- Aldridge Elementary School
- Dubois Elementary School
- Carver Military Academy School

- George Washington Carver Elementary School
- Chicago International Charter
- Harriet Tubman Elementary School

When sending your child off to school you assume they will remain safe, however this isn’t always the case. Attractions
Riverdale is home to some activities and attractions, which include:
- Golden Gate Park
- Kensington Marsh
- Little Calumet Marsh
- Beaubien Woods
While most of the time spent at these Roseland attractions will be enjoyable and uneventful, accidents can occur, including premises accidents, slip and falls, bicycle accidents, bus accidents, car accidents, drinking and driving, dog bites, and playground accidents.
