Introduction

West Pullman is located on the far south side of Chicago and is bounded on the north by 115th Street, on the east by the former Illinois Central Railroad, on the south by the Calumet River and Riverdale, on the west by Calumet Park, Blue Island and Ashland Avenue.

Transportation

West Pullman is home to four stations on the Metra Electric District’s Blue Island branch; Racine, State Street, Stewart Ridge, and West Pullman. The area is also accessible by Busses #108, #352, #359, and #8A.

The area also has access to Lyft/Uber rideshare services and taxi services. Unfortunately, this means that rideshare accidents, pedestrian accidents, motor vehicle accidents, and public transportation accidents can be common in the area.

Demographics

West Pullman has a population of 27,982 according to the most recent U.S. Census. The median household income is $33,898 with a median age of 35 years old.

Education

West Pullman area students are primarily serviced by Chicago Public Schools, including:

  • West Pullman Elementary School
  • Higgins Community Academy Elementary School
  • John Whistler Elementary School

When sending your child off to school you assume they will remain safe, however, this isn’t always the case. School bus accidents, gym and physical education accidents, lack of supervision, daycare accidents, playground injuries, and school district negligence are just a few examples of the types of school injury cases America’s Consumer Lawyer has experience with.

Attractions

West Pullman is home to a handful of activities and attractions, which include:

  • West Pullman Park
  • Major Taylor Trail
  • Cooper Park

While most of the time spent at these West Pullman attractions will be enjoyable and uneventful, accidents can occur, including premises accidents, slip and falls, bicycle accidents, bus accidents, car accidents, drinking and driving, dog bites, and playground accidents.
