Harassing phone calls at all hours of the day and night. Calling repeatedly, non-stop, back to back. Using caller ID methods so they appear to be calling from nearby towns, when in fact it’s the same company. They contact my relatives (brothers, uncles), and have even tried to use Facebook messenger to reach out to my friends from literally kindergarten/elementary school, to see if they can get info on me. It’s embarrassing, and it’s downright out of control. They’ve even gone so far as to state a dollar amount of the supposed debt to my friends + family, which is bad enough, but then they completely overstate + exaggerate the amount of the debt and have told my relatives that financial liability shift to them if the collector does not receive payment immediately. I literally can’t answer any phone calls on my phone anymore, bc it’s always them and they always disguise their identity. When I have responded or tried to address this with them via the phone, they refuse to tell me what the debt pertains to, but claim it’s in reference to a debt occurred while living in San Antonio, which is well over 9 years ago. There is surely something under the TX DTPA which should prevent them from harassing me, and releasing private info to my family and friends, who then call me in a panic without fail. Please help. Best, paige
