Claiming I open a credit card I never made

Good afternoon, I hope this message finds you well. I am currently in a situation involving a recent phone call from 516-316-6006. Either Cohen & Slamowitz or Selip & Stylianou (It is probably the same firm). I believe it is a legal firm reaching out to sue me for a debt. I also assume it is for Discover maybe another I am not sure. I have called to try to work with the creditors after weeks and weeks of calls at all times of the day, weekends and weekdays, to try to resolve outstanding debts. I have lost my job some time ago and was unable to make minimum payments any longer due to other bills (car, insurance, mortgage, food, supplies for my children, etc). They had basically used sales tactics to have me sign up under a repayment plan but I was adamant that I would not have the funds and to offer more time to find work and begin repayment. They explicitly said I would be sued if I couldn\'t make any arrangements for repayment. I understand I am on the hook for it, I just cant pay with no money. I am currently trying to do this with all my creditors. The CC\'s were keeping us afloat during the pandemic as I restructured my work history to find work in a new location with my family. I was very clear that I may not be able to allocate moneys to any form of offer being that I have no income. I provided them a bank account to hold or reserve the settlement offer. I was not able to meet that agreement as I stated on their recorded call and was very hesitant to do so knowing I wouldn\'t have the funds. Alas I believe I am being sued or being reached out to for prospective litigation. I don\'t know if I am supposed to speak with them or try to find counsel or assistance first. I have considered Bankruptcy. I am currently enrolled in school and working through testing programs for CBP (Customs and Border Protection) to become an agent or an officer while looking for W2 work. I have had dozens of interviews that waste time and go no wear or offers for jobs with no real hourly wage. I do not want my debts to impede any prospective progress I have made. Timing is everything I guess. I would love to have a consultation with your firm if possible. I may not be reached tonight but anytime after today is best. But if you call please, please, please leave a message. I always ask the creditors to leave a message so I know what is going on as I am busy often until the early morning and am not tied to my phone. They never leave a message and it is very discouraging considering how often they try to call; Sometimes after 9pm EST when I am putting the kids to sleep. Any guidance or advice is helpful. I could work with my wife to set aside funds for bankruptcy filing (should your firm even do that) or to retain your service in this matter. I found your firm on Google after searching for the number that called as I didn\'t recognize it. I don\'t know if you can operate in New Jersey either. Thank you in advance and I hope you and your team have a wonderful weekend. All the Best, Dave

Hi Jasmine. If you're getting calls from Cohen Slamowitz, you would need to inform them that you wish for them to cease and desist. My law firm does not represent them, instead we represent consumers like you who are dealing with frequent, annoying, unnecessary phone calls from debt collectors. We can discuss this in more detail in a free, no obligation consultation so give me a call at your earliest convenience. Thanks, Mike 888 572 0176

Hi William. You should definitely question this debt if you've never had Verizon before. You can request a debt validation letter from them to make sure the debt is legitimate or determine if there is an error. I can help you with this. Give me a call at 888-572-0176 for your free, no-obligation consultation. I look forward to speaking with you and helping you with this situation. Thanks, Mike

Hello Ali. Debt collectors are not permitted to threaten consumers and if they do so, they could owe you compensation. I will give you a call to discuss the law and your rights, plus any possible options you could have in dealing with them. Thanks, Mike
