When a debt collection agency like Credit Corp Solutions uses abusive tactics against the law, contacting an attorney can help you find debt relief and peace of mind. You can stop illegal behavior and hold the offending company accountable by getting legal counsel from the consumer protection attorneys at Mike Agruss Law.

What is Credit Corp Solutions?

Credit Corp Solutions is a debt collection company focusing on receivables management. They collect on behalf of clients, including organizations in retail finance, credit cards, and personal loans.

Credit Corp Solutions purchases delinquent debts and claims to offer flexible payment plans tailored to consumers’ circumstances.

Are There Complaints Against Credit Corp Solutions?

Credit Corp Solutions has no active profile on the Better Business Bureau. The company’s former listing page states 180 W Election Rd Ste 200, Draper, Utah, as its headquarters; however, the profile displays a message that says it is currently being updated.

Credit Corp Solutions acts under the name Tasman Credit Corp in Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin while operating under Tasman Credit in New Hampshire, New York, and Connecticut. The BBB database has no record of these alternate company names.

Tasman Credit Corp has at least one pending class-action lawsuit. The case was filed by a New York resident who claims the collection agency sent her vague and misleading information regarding supposed debt, violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

How Does State and Federal Law Protect Consumers From Debt Collectors?

The FDCPA protects consumers by setting a framework within which debt collectors can operate. This federal law prohibits Credit Corp Solutions from constantly calling you throughout the day or using obscene or threatening language when speaking to you.

States have also enacted consumer protection laws regarding debt collectors.  These state laws further prohibit illegal debt collection agency behavior. The Illinois Collection Agency Act defines a licensed collection agency and affords consumers extra protections like:

  • Making it illegal for an agency to claim to be a police officer
  • Imposes fines for collectors who practice without a license
  • Making it illegal to threaten arrest or incarceration due to unpaid debt

Debt collectors cannot threaten you with violence or property repossession. The FDCPA allows you to sue debt collection agencies for up to $1,000 per violation of the act and recover associated costs and attorney fees.

How Do I Know if Credit Corp Solutions is Harassing Me?

If you owe a debt or a collection agency targets you due to an error in your credit report, you don’t have to accept abusive behavior from the debt collector. Many consumers are unaware of the legal framework prohibiting debt collection agencies from engaging in abusive and misleading tactics.

Understanding consumer protection laws can help you protect yourself if Credit Corp Solutions crosses the line into illegal practices when attempting to collect a debt.

Feeling uncomfortable with a debt collector’s behavior may signify that the collector is violating your federally protected rights. Feeling shame, anxiety, and fear are common reactions to debt collection agency overreach.

Debt collectors can often cause embarrassment by contacting your friends and family about a debt you owe. This practice is illegal as debt collectors can only speak to your acquaintances to find your contact information.

What Should I Do if Credit Corp Solutions Contacts Me?

Even if the collection agency representative provokes you through offensive language and threats, do your best to remain calm. Tell the representative that you no longer want to receive contact from them, that you are seeking legal counsel and end the call.

As soon as possible, reach out to an experienced debt collection attorney. You can notify Credit Corp Solutions through a cease and desist letter to stop contacting you. Any communication the company initiates with you after receiving your letter counts as harassment.

You can also notify the Federal Trade Commission about Credit Corp Solution’s illegal behavior through their website. Alternatively, you can contact your state Attorney General’s office to file a complaint.

Credit Corp solutions keeps ignoring a disputed student loan I never borrowed or have ever acknowledged because it does not belong to me. They have ignored this disputed fraudulent debt that belongs to some one else by the name of Karen Barrett. They sent me a pre legal notice asking for payment in trying to pin a debt I never borrowed or applied for, and I am requesting urgent legal advice to stop this harassment.
