Neglecting to pay a bill or falling behind on payments due to an emergency can activate a collections account in your name. When this happens, the debt passes on to a debt collection agency that proceeds to contact you about repaying the amount. Housing debts are a common source of financial trouble as back rent and other accommodation bills can range from a few hundred dollars to well into the thousands.

When the debt collector becomes overzealous with recovering the debt, they can enter territory that federal law considers illegal. If a collection agency like IQ Data International contacts you, getting in touch with the consumer protection attorneys at Mike Agruss Law is the most effective way to curb abusive behavior by the debt collector.

What is IQ Data International Inc?

IQ Data International is a debt collection agency. The company offers a payment portal on its homepage where consumers can make payments via a bank account or credit card.

The firm claims to provide consumers with easy payment options while safeguarding their information. IQ Data International focuses on the multi-family housing industry and uses its technology, human resources management, and training to offer its clients the solutions they seek.

Are there Complaints Against IQ Data International?

IQ Data International has a profile on the Better Business Bureau’s website. The collections agency is not BBB accredited, and they have a 1.01 out of 5-star rating resulting from over 160 customer reviews. BBB lists IQ Data International’s address as 21222 30th Dr. SE Ste 120, Bothell, Washington, and states that the debt collector has been in business for 18 years.

Despite IQ Data International saying they approach consumers “in a fair, courteous, and understanding manner,  several consumer reviews and complaints mention rude and abusive behavior. Rather than address the complaint, the debt collector responds to most allegations with the same message they post under each claim, encouraging consumers to call their agency.

How to Know if IQ Data International is Violating Your Consumer Rights

Many consumers do not realize that debt collectors may be violating their rights because they are unaware of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and what the law provides United States citizens.

Dealing With IQ Data International

Harassing phone calls and aggressive or abusive language can be unnerving. Besides the stress and anxiety, collections accounts on your credit report can damage your credit score, whether or not you pay the debt unless it’s removed. The statute of limitations allows debt collection to persist for several years, making legal advice a necessity depending on your state.

The collection process starts with an initial communication to inform you of the debt and a debt validation letter but can quickly escalate to threats of arrest or wage garnishments. Debt collectors may also make continuous, badgering phone calls or use abusive or threatening language when contacting you.

All these actions are violations of the FDCPA, and consumers have the right to pursue legal action against them. Reach out to a consumer protection lawyer from Mike Agruss Law to put a stop to unethical methods.

You may be eligible to recover compensation when this behavior occurs and have your legal expenses covered. In addition, you can receive up to $1,000 in damages for each separate violation.

Removing a Collections Account From Your Credit File

If IQ Data International reports a collection account to the credit bureaus, the only way to remove it is to file a dispute for the item. Each of the three major credit reporting agencies provides an online process to dispute a mistake.

You will have to gather as much supporting documentation for your case as possible. Double-check the information on your credit report with your own records. After submitting your dispute, the credit bureau has 30 days to answer.

If you need help with credit repair, get in touch with a knowledgeable lawyer who has experience filing credit report disputes.

Iq data called me today regarding a lease I broke over a year ago. The lady was very aggressive. She made threats to reporting to my credit stating “I don’t care about your credit score” I’ve worked hard to get my score where it is. I gave her my bank info and they are waiting till Monday. After the call I felt it wasn’t right the way she talked to me or any of the call in general. The apartment complex never contacted me for the money. And verbally told me I didn’t owe anything. Unfortunately I don’t have proof of the conversation happening. Would like advice on what I should do.

3 months after we moved from the apartments we lived in we got a letter from Iq data saying we didn’t give a 60 day notice and we owed 6000.00. I have a copy of the 60 day notice and emails of work orders that we put in trying to get things fixed before we moved. Nothing was fixed so the apartments are charging us. I tried getting a validation letter from iq data but all they sent was a bill! The apartments never sent us a letter on why they kept our deposit they sent it to iq data! I want this off of our credit reportsASAP!!!

I have been trying to pay my debt with IQ Data International for almost a month. They keep trying to charge me more than what the apartment says I owe. The apartment complex sent in an updated balance showing I owe $508.97. I spoke to a representative named Aaron on 7/6 who confirmed he saw the updated balance. He then tried to get me to pay 588 stating there was 6% interest and I told him I would not pay that amount as I knew what the apartment complex sent over to them as the balance, as they sent me the ledger as well. I called back today to pay the 508 97 and got a representative by the name of Nat who stated now there is nothing showing that it was the 508 97 I do not want to pay that amount as someone let me borrow the money to pay the 508 97 and it may seem like a small increase, but I do not have that money. I need to know if there’s any action I can take against the? Their representatives are very rude. They lie a lot and I’m just tired this is getting to be very stressful and this is stopping me from getting an apartment and I just want to pay this bill and they are making a very hard

6.5 year debt

Hello, I am from Brainerd. I took a job I. st Cloud back in June 2022. Signed a lease at that time also with effective term July 1st 2022 for 12 months. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I had to break my lease and pay to re-list. The leasing agency kept $400 of my rekeying fee to re-list. In July I received an email stating rent was owed. I emailed them to verify. They said, “we rented your unit. Nothing is owed. Good to go.” On 12/19/22 I was informed by a debt collector that the leasing agency had turned me in for a debt related to a “termination clause.” Upon reviewing the lease, I see no termination clause. The termination clause was for $3050 (including late fees). I was never informed of this debt prior to it going to a debt collection agency and cannot find a basis for it in my lease. Also, why did they wait 6 months to collect this? Especially if I broke my lease less than one week from filing it and they found someone else to rent the apartment? I was told during my phone conversation that they could not do monthly payments, that if I didn’t pay in full I would be turned into collections and may not be able to re-rent my current apartment. Anyways, if you are unable to help, could you please point me in the direction of someone who can? Thank you so much! And Merry Christmas!
